  1. I have a pack of Mann's Hardnose Paddletails. I can honestly say that so far, they have performed just as well as the expensive hollow body paddletails for me... Still nothing on the paddletails for me. Just as bad as the chatterbait...
  2. Haven't even seen them... Got Pics?
  3. OK, I have Shadaliscious in 3 colors, Magic Minnows in several colors (Yum MM and regular MM), and the Mann's hardnose swimbait. I have rigged them with 5/0 Gammy EWG hooks, some shank weight hooks that I use for Zoom Flukes, with a straight shank owners, and even with a big fat jighead... I have tried them on 14lb mono, and on 8 lb mono. I've burned them, I've crawled them, I've varied retrieves, I've done everything I could think of with these #@#$% things, and I can't get a single bite on them... They look pretty coming thru the water, but I don't even get any followers. I have to be doing something wrong. I have wasted about 8 hours collectively on these super expensive hollow bodied pieces of junk! Should I stick with them or throw them on ebay and go back to the Live magic shads by Lake Fork (They work great...)?
  4. I guess those surf casting spinning rigs are considered light tackle?
  5. I second that.
  6. I don't know the specifics, but I would try lighter line, slowing down, and then slowing down some more. If you are used to spinnerbaits and traps, then you might be fishing too fast. Pitch that worm into thick muck and sticks, and grass that you would never dream of tossing a ratt'l trap into...
  7. LOL. Too True. I just bought some Swimming Senkos because of this.
  8. I was thinking of starting a topic with a very similar title... I discovered a new cool lure that I think will catch on. Have you all heard about the senko?
  9. That's good to know, because I wanted to buy some of the others. Even so, though, the durability of the Magic Shad is not so great. Especially the pre-rigged kind you get at walmart, that jighead ruins the bait. I get a little more mileage out of using a shank weighted hook, but not much more... That said the bait is fantastic, I have only once used a live magic shad and been skunked. I catch fish, very aggressive fish, on this bait. Love it.
  10. I like the weighted jerkbait hooks too. Just enough weight to make it run right...
  11. I haven't seen this brand in years, I used to see them at K-Mart... A quick internet search only shows me a bunch of old ebay listings and a couple of online stores... It doesn't look good for Casey's Competitor bait company...
  12. I have a lot of bags of ribbits, and only ever got two or three beads. I always wonder if it might be some guy at the store taking all the beads for his own bag...
  13. Never saw it either. Probably desiccant like you said.
  14. Meaning they vomit into you. Ugh... :-[
  15. I just posted in the SE Section... I pulled a Lonestar Tick out of my armpit about an hour ago... It was sore, so I walked to the bathroom at work and pulled the little sucker right out... Wrapped him up in a paper towel... This is the 6th or 7th tick I've had this year already... This sucks!
  16. I just plucked it out. Got the whole thing. I'm not a patient man when something is in me & sucking my blood...I gotta get it out right away.
  17. I primarily bank fish, I've already had about 6-7 ticks already this year, it's been an infestation. They've been all over both on my dogs and me. I use OFF that I bought this year and it has deet in it, but it seems to not be working as well... Just a few minutes ago, I felt a soreness in my armpit and went to the bathroom. Sure enough, I pulled out a tick, one I've never seen before. I looked it up on google, it's a 'Lone Star Tick'... It looks like a slightly smaller brown tick with a single whitish dot on its back... It sometimes carries an infection similar to Lyme Disease though not as bad, and sometimes even carries Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever... YIKES! Anyhow...is anyone else seeing a big jump in ticks where you fish? What are you all using to keep the #%$#$@ing bloodsuckers away?
  18. I used to keep one, don't anymore. I just integrated it into my normal tackle so that no matter the conditions, I'll always have a Mepps black fury #3 and #4 with red dots, Powerworms in Tequila Sunrise, a green and white tandem willow spinnerbait, Slug-go in Arkansas Shiner, and a few Bandit 100s and 200s.
  19. I think this is closest... They saw what people were willing to pay for Basstrix after they got hot, and price gouged accordingly. Before basstrix won tournaments they were less than half of what they charge now.
  20. I think a cold front in summer is easier to deal with than one in the spring or fall. Generally, more persistence is needed, working cover tighter and slower, with finesse style baits, and lighter line than normal will probably help. Yesterday I left Mclean VA at 4:30 and it was 100 degrees. I got home in Winchester at 6:00 and the temps were in the high 70s after it had stormed. I caught four (2 dinks, a two than went 2-3 pounds) letting a small sizmic toad sink at my local pond. All four of them were within 2 feet from steep shoreline banks. Got a lot of followers on other stuff.
  21. Smallmouth fight harder, but largemouth have the size thing going for them. I fish the rivers/streams near me almost as often as ponds/lakes... I love catching both of the 'mouths. It is a win win situation to me. Can't lose fishing for either one. If you held a gun to my head... I'll pick largemouth.
  22. He's some guy in Europe with an amazing/insane lure collection.
