  1. You can wacky rig a sluggo too...
  2. Bandit 100 (2-4 foot diver) or Bandit footloose (0-1 foot diver). Both are amazing producers for their cost. I still catch more fish on a bandit than I do on a similar LC bait. Another great topwater is just about any Bagley with a square lip. They are more expensive though. I hate the Mann's Minus series baits, they break on me very easily. I have not had a single one hold up to even light casts against a dock or rip-rap. Plus they look and feel cheap. Mann's does have a new 'premium series' baby minus bait to compete with the more expensive lures, but I haven't tried them yet, and probably won't based on my experience with the other ones. I also do not like Bomber lures that much. Bandits in the same or similar colors outfish them every time. I lost a green and white bandit that was producing all along the shoreline on an underwater snag. I put a nearly identical Bomber green and white bait on and caught nothing. I still have some bombers, but they kind of just sit in my box and do nothing.
  3. I would agree for the most part, but BPS has some new premium cranks that are packaged with a very similar look to Lucky Craft packaging, and they are located right next to the Lucky craft lures. The cranks look like knock-offs of the Rick Clunn shad bait, and they work very well. I use them in the potomac on smallmouth, and they crush them. They look like LCs and are half the price...
  4. I read the link, and George Welcome's awesome post... Is George just texas rigging it? George, are you using a bullet weight, spiltshot, or nail weight?
  5. I couldn't pull the trigger on a soft bait costing that much. I'll buy lucky crafts and megabass cranks all day, but 16 bucks for a hollow bodied frog was too much for even me. I don't even want to pay $6-7 for a Spro Bronzeye...
  6. Swimbaits can get up there, I've seen them for 80, 90, or 100 bucks. Crazy! Antique lures on Ebay sometimes go for a lot, I saw some Bagley BB1 grubtails go for around $90 each, one went for over 200 a couple of weeks ago.
  7. That is the Megabass Type X Frog lure, and it is not only a beautiful lure with brilliant colors (many more than the ones in your pic) but it really works. I have one of every color except cracked sand and viper red. (I will have those soon) The lure is a top water crank. You can twitch it like a rapala or fish it subsurface like a wake bait. The lure will also sort of 'dance' backward once you twitch it. You can pull it forward a little, and it will back up a few inches. I nail them with this frog come top water time... BTW, you can find them at better prices than 22 bucks. I've gotten them for as low as 8 bucks by being patient and shopping around. There are also knock-offs on ebay, and I have those too, but they are not any good.
  8. Cool, those Carolina skiffs look very nice...
  9. Ditto, Ditto, Ditto, etc. Sunfish bite the legs off of mine. I've only caught a handful of bass on them, and other creature baits really produce better. The Sabertail Bug and the Baby Brush hog outfish the nories bug every time.
  10. I have wanted a boat for years, and for the last couple of years have only been looking at Bass Boats. This summer though, I've been thinking a lot about buying something that I can get the most use out of, like a fish/ski combo like Nitro or Stratus offers or an inshore rig - like a Mako. I don't want to ski, but I do want a bigger boat for family use or to use on the Chesapeake Bay to catch crabs, but also one that I can also take out bass fishing. Any recommendations or thoughts on this? Anybody use anything other than a bass boat?
  11. Helicopter lures are junk, Gulp is garbage, And, Chatterbaits suck.
  12. Cool, that is it exactly Raul. Thanks everyone!
  13. I had a friend give me some tackle that she found in her garage from her ex... Weights, line, hooks, etc. I got one pack of Mustad hooks that I can't figure out what they would be for. They are double hooks, like a treble with one hook cut off. I have seen this done to create a weedless crankbait, but these are made out of one piece and the shank is not welded. What do I use these for? The markings on the package are: Fresh Water Ref 7826 Size 6
  14. Bagley Killer B2 or Bagley Fat Cat if you can find them.
  15. I'm in VA fishing the upper Potomac and use only two cranks all day long. The water is too fast IMO for tubes, so I use only crankbaits and inline spinners. First crank is a Rapala suspending glass shad, the color is black with tiny gold dots. The second is the BPS premium line of cranks (the packaging looks like Lucky Craft, but it is the BPS knock off...), color is splatter-back. Both rake the fish in, and both are $6 or a little less. BTW the spinner I use is the Mepps Black Fury #3 or #4 w/red dots.
  16. In that first pic, you could have told me you went to FL and caught a snook, and I'd have believed you. That 1st smallie really looks snook-ish.
  17. Line: Yo Zuri Hybrid - Kinked up and slipped off the reel, was very brittle. Reel: Okuma Helix Spinning reel - Usually Okuma is pretty good, and maybe I got a plain old defective reel, but mine flat out sucks. The bail won't close when you start reeling, it only half-closes. Many times the drag won't engage and the bail flips open. Lures: Berkley Frenzy Cranks, Matzuo America Cranks, both cheaply made wastes of plastic and metal.
  18. Looks like a weedless inline spinner that is missing the skirt. I use similar inline spinners and inline buzzbaits, and they work very well.

  20. I still use the Mepps Fury #3 and #4 a ton, the one with the red dots, the yellow never did it for me. I just found a Fury with white dots on the blade and can't wait to try it out at the river.
  21. I like the DT series, but don't love it. I get more on deep diving Bagleys and Bandit 300s. I think Bagley has a better wobble, and the Bandits make some noise.
  22. http://www.megabait.net/ I just checked out the site. Megabait was sold and the company that bought them is keeping the Charlie and some Jigs from the Megabait line. So Charlie lovers will still be able to get them. Mine will probably go on Ebay sooner or later...
  23. I don't want a giveaway, but cool idea. Thanks!
  24. And have some extra deodorant at your desk so you can freshen up and not chase your coworkers away...
