  1. [move]BOING[/move] straight wood!
  2. I have the Navionics Hot Maps Pro 2006. On select lakes it has contours @ 1' which is nice. I was quite disappointed that on the two lakes I have used them on the 1' contours did not stretch into all the coves mostly just the main lake . I don't know much about the Lowrance product. Hope this helps a little. I know your postion, its hard to find out exactly what you are getting!
  3. I agree Thomas. My buddy has refused delivery on 2 skeeter I-class boats becasue of cracks in the gel coat around the back of the boat. The dang thing had never been in the water! I don't think it was stuctural but you buying an 07 the thing better be mint for what they are charging!
  4. I think used especially in the last 5 year range is the accountants choice. You save a lot of money, you'll loose almost $10,000.00 when you pull a new boat off the lot.
  5. I am with most here, my tip is DOWN. When that fish makes the move for the jump I literally pull his head back down and crank. You can see it happen. His/her tail usually lands on the oppisite side of the head. Kind of like a cartwheel.
  6. Matt fly, I didn't know if putting the link up would violate a rule on here: Here is the link: http://www.falconrods.com/news/article_2007_01_31_4948.php It is kind of a everyone has a chance tournament with a bunch of draws for the participants. They have some lame requirements like you have to fish using a Falcon rod and you have to use the sponsors baits if fishing plastics, cranks, jigs etc. nothing else. I have a buddy who has a place there and fishes it some so I thought I would give it a whirl, I was going to be there anyway. Looks like a good time.
  7. anybody going to fish this tournament?
  8. looks like you got her figured out! Welcome
  9. I am a sick-o. My wife was making fun of me the other day because I was watching the BANJO MINNOW INFO-MERCIAL ;D. I need help!
  10. Hey bass pro, man that lake looks tasty (are you sure you were on Fork, I barely see one boat in any of those pics ;D) and the diggs look even better!! Sorry about the mis hap with your daughter! the good news is that it was a false alarm, the bad news is it pulled you off the lake and probably drove like a bat out of hell on the way home! But like you said the good news is you live only 45 minutes from FORK!!! Dude that is awesome! Head back down there and jump in with some other guys! I have a feeling you will be getting to know Fork a little better over the next 12 months! Great to hear everything turned out ok (except you being home early). Hydrilla Cart, that was pretty good!!!!
  11. I agree with what Matt Fly said 100%. The largest decesion to me would be size. Are you sure you want to go that small? It will limit where and when you can fish. If you only fish one place, no big deal, but if you are going to other lakes, etc to fish you will want a larger boat than 17'. For instance, if you were at the Fork with some of the guys on here, yesterday you would have wanted a bigger boat. Anyway you slice it, getting a new bass boat is one of my favorite things! Also, if you are going to buy locally I would wait for things to warm up so you can have a better selection. Good luck and happy releasing!
  12. WELCOME TO THE SITE, GLAD YOU SIGNED UP!
  13. NO GREEN ON ST. PATRICKS DAY? ;D Great fish!
  14. For Bass I would consider some of the Mexico lake lodges like Guerrero or ElSalto? Fairly affordable, will come with guide, lodging, food, etc and a great chance at a 10+. Nice present!
  15. Fell in love and wanted a family. Being a fly fishing guide I could not provide for them in the manner I do now.
  16. In my other life I was a fly fishing trout guide and owned a couple shops in Colorado. We used and sold the pontoon style boats for use on rivers all the time. The pontoon is not bad if there is a little currentl and you keep the boat pointed down stream. They are easier to get in and out of + they get your butt up out of the water which A. keeps you more comfortable and B. it puts you higher for better hook sets and better vision in the water. The round tubes are definitly more affordable, I don't know about being more puncture resistant - my guess that would depend on the type of exterior your pontoon has. I have been thinking about a way to rig a way to stand up on the pontoon so you can pitch and see better when you are not moving. Also, most pontoons have a way to mount a trolling motor for lakes (or a big cooler ) if you so choose. One more + for pontoon would be they are easier/faster to row or kick around on lakes and rivers than a round tube. Good luck, but if it were me i would go PONTOON!
  17. Good luck guys! I will have to wait for the reports to come rolling in! It's been a blast monitoring your jibber on here. I tried to make it and jump in w/TX Bass pro but I have to fly out for work on Monday :'( Oh well the world will continue to turn. anyhow, a big sincere: [move] GOOD LUCK YOU GUYS [/move]
