Thanks for input. Was checking Daiwas site it's only $12 per reel for annual maitnence which isn't bad at all seeing as how it covers return shipping. How extensive it is idk. Didn't go JDM on these So I ordered 2 of these, the 2000 and 2500. Really looking forward to it. idk if I'll fully convert but leaning to switching to Daiwa. Definitely switching for a couple applications. Figured why not start by doing the easy part, 2 spinning reels.

Any of you guys throwing this for Drop shot or finesse applications. Played with a 4000 the other day feels like a nice reel. Unfortunately no one local has the 2000 or 2500. So I whacked my buddies motor the other day on a cast and broke the tail off my RC French Pearl. Went to DSG where I normally get them and they didn't have any, that's odd... So yesterday went to Cabelas and they only had one and my luck it was French Pearl. I get home strip the Owner rings and Mustad hooks off the old one and pull out the new one.. Totally different animal. No longer translucent, now a cream color, not white. Rattle is much more of a deeper tone and somewhat louder. Only thing the same is the garbage O Rings and hooks. Actually I think these are worse O rings than the previous ones they used.

Any of you guys have these and could post a pic for base of comparison?? Also trying to figure out if the Gold color matches Daiwas Gold color. Beating a dead horse at this point but for those who may come across this thread with similar interests. The Knobs do indeed fit the stock handles, they are sold individually, not as pairs, the ones pictured in my original post if ordered seperately are the S model (S for Small). The full handle assembly comes with knobs and bearings but the handle is virtually identical to the JDM stock handle.

Going the Shimano route I would also highly recommend the Scorpion 1000/1001XT basically like a 50 sized curado and in the same ball park price range. Also I would definitely go down in line 12-15lb range is where I throw jigs. 20lb, ehh idk maybe in some serious zebra mussel infested waters.

It's like $150 something for that handle!?! Ahhhhhhh is there any way to find out if just those knobs would fit on the oem handle? They have 3 different sizes listed on there.

Charters use Battles because they're vertically fishing. They're not surf casting. Penn pre China was my go to saltwater reel for years if I had the luxury of getting a Vaan Staal pre China I would have. The bail closing issue is a known problem. I own Shimanos, Quantums, Daiwas, Fin-Nor, and have owned several other brands. This has nothing to do with Shimano vs penn. OP wanted honest Battle experience so I provided it. Claiming I'm sponsored by anyone then doing nothing but defending your brand of choice and bashing said brands is just as funny as a dozen posts complaining on a forum about people complaining on forums, it's absolutely hilarious BTW. Just Man up and admit the brand Penn dropped the ball on faulty products and had a chance to address the issue with the re-release and didn't.

havibg a hard time tracking down this handle and knobs. No luck at hedgehog or eBay. idk where else to check. Edit*update* they were in hedgehog all along. Had I known I had to hit a button to convert website to English I would have been able to navigate site from the beginning. Lol
