  1. Yeah I saw em. looking to see if any one can compare it to SX1 more or less
  2. IMO the Xtasys hold their own against all the rods mentioned in this thread. Personally the few NRXs I’ve fondled were ridiculously tip heavy and poorly balanced especially for a rod at that price range. I have one buddy who swears by the Steez rods and another who swears by the Exprides and Conquests. I haven’t tried a Steez rod in a long long time, Daiwa has always impressed me tho. might find it beneficial to get a custom built. There’s a lot of good blanks available. And a big thing for me is reel seats. You can get what you find most comfortable without being stuck with what a manufacturer is slapping on given rod. Hit up @Delaware Valley Tackle And pick his brain. He knows his stuff.
  3. Sup all, Any of you guys using Cortland? I’ve been pretty die hard with Sunline SX1, and use Sufix 832 in a pinch. Primarily 20lb on Spinning reels. Pretty interested in feedback if any one has any. I really like the SX1 it’s always been durable and holds leader knot very well. flipping and frogging FX2 50-60lb day in day out. Just looking for spinning reel feedback. thanks in advance!
  4. In need of a co-angler to link for all 5 Northeast BFL tournaments. Hit me up!
  5. I’m really really digging these!
  6. New Blank Material, SeaGuides XO guides, cork. Bunch of new lengths and powers. The $179 price tag on the test ones is wrong, disregard that. I have 4 on their way to me. ?
  7. Gonna have a couple Dobyns rods coming your way for some guide replacements!!! Anyone in need of rod repairs Mike re wrapped a guide for me this past summer, looks just as good as factory!
  8. If you go Champ XP 704 but if it’s gonna be a lot of heavy top water id suggest a Sierra 705 instead. Stronger rod for those bigger baits and more of a moderate taper than the DC.
  9. All of the LT reels I own not including the 2 SS Tats I needed to add washers to. There should be some in the box. FYI The Fuego you have to pull this little rubber o ring thing off to pull the other parts off to put the washer down.
  10. That 705CB is one hell of a squarebill rod. Good for poppers too.
  11. I line it up then squeeze it on with tweezers.
  12. Hey guys, any one that has the latest models of these in 2500 and 3000, can you tell me if knobs are riveted or screwed onto the handles? Thanks in advance!
  13. I throw 15lb FC for chatters. I love my DC 734C plus it’s a crazy versatile rod. Like the stiffer rod with the FC. That 73, 5 or 6 glass rod guys like from my experience use braid.
  14. I have no idea man. Try it out! Heres a example what i meant about the different locking nut both of these are Sierras
  15. Looks fine to me. Snug it up and go catch some giants!!! The latest rendition of the Fuji seats the locking nut is a hair taller than previous gens. I have some Sierras from when they launched and 1 purchased a month ago. I instantly noticed the nut is different. It’s a Fuji thing not Dobyns. Plus that’s arguably the most widely used reel seat on the market. Tight Lines!
  16. Don’t quote me on which Lews model, I think it’s the Carbon Fire Fiber, idk, it was a Dicks exclusive made by Penn or something... any how that foot doesn’t fit on several style reel seats, the part of the foot the extends down towards the butt was like 3in long and the part that extends towards the tip was much shorter and smaller. So the bottom part doesn’t fit and the top part is too small and sits loose. A guy in my club had bought like 4 of them and the only reel seat that they fit in was a PAC bay minima. Very strange. Daiwa Shimano and Abu I have never seen or heard of any issues with the spinning reels fitment... good luck!
  17. Glad to hear we found the culprit! If there’s anymore concerns I highly advise giving their shop a call in the am. They are great people to deal with!
  18. Try switching the reels around. And see if same thing happens on the other rod. Some reels I’ve seen in the past the foot is oversized from model to model in the same brand.
  19. You can’t go by those power ratings anymore from when the brand started. Example DC 3 MH F DC 4 H F DC 5 MH XF DC 6 H XF FR 3 MH FR 4 H FR 5 Mag H DC CB 4 M DC CB 5 MH It can get confusing. Lol
  20. I throw a lot of weightless stuff on the MH models. Great for wacky rigged senkos. The Sierra 683 is nice too, blank is a bit more sensitive and better guides. I heard academy has em on sale right now ridiculously cheap in store only tho
  21. There’s no “standard” on powers and actions for rod manufacturers, across all the different brands. With that being said the lure weight ratings for each rod is spot on. Across the different dobyns lines Fury to Sierra to champ etc due to the different blanks some may seem to have a faster taper than others. Which fury are you thinking about and for what technique? I have several maybe I can help steer you in the right direction.
  22. Dobyns have been great for me for close to a decade now. Throughout all the lines the balance is incredible and all the rods are built on the spline. With the exception of the swimbait rods none of the rods have fore grips or exposed threads unlike some of the lines St Croix offers. I’ll give ya quick rundown to get you started if your interested in checking some out. The Colt and the Fury lines are the entry levels. Fury you get cork, and a wider selection of powers and actions. The Sierra formerly the Savvy Series steps you up to Fuji guides and a better blank. More of a moderate taper to all the rods. A lot of multi species guys like this line. The Champion was recently revamped as the XP line. Should be MP line cause it’s the Meat n Potatoes of the brand. LOL You get a better blank, rod options including full length cork handle and a plethora of powers and actions as well as glass rods. Also there’s a huge selection of CB ‘crankbait’ rods. The Extreme also recently revamped to the HP line. Really steps up in the blank department. All the techniques you really need great sensitivity for are in this line, finesse and bottom contact. Xtasy is the tippy top shelf lineup. The only rods in the line up I haven’t had the chance to fish yet. They step up to a superior blank and torzite guides. Its been a long time since I’ve fished with a St Croix but I do know they’ve made a lot of changes in recent years, to a few of their lines. I’m sure others will chime in with info for ya. But to speak from experience the Dobyns warranty system is fantastic, customer service is great to deal with, and they’re always available to help people select rods. I know a couple guys up here have called in and asked for recommendations on specific techniques and got pointed in the right direction. Anyone new to Dobyns I recommend the Champion 734C it’s a lot of people’s favorite “do everything” rod.
  23. I’m fishing the Northeast division. But yeah you basically get with a boater he calls and registers and gives them your name and flw # then you do the same. That’s how I linked last year with people. Theyre customer service is great and in some instances the tournament directors can help get you a link last min.
  24. Smfh thanks for heads up I totally screwed up. Northeast!
