  1. I also use a poor mans ned rig .
  2. One of these days I'll try a wacky rig .?
  3. Rescued a Chug Bug last night , dangling from a tree . Whoever lost this lure didnt even try to get it back .
  4. Is the weed growth reaching the surface and matting up ?
  5. I went late yesterday afternoon and last night til 3 in the morning . The temperature was great . The fishing was fair . Didnt get on numbers like I have been during the day but managed 21 . Toads work at night too . These hot summer days , I use to love them , now they are torture .
  6. I only use braid for frogs and toads . 50 lb . I have the drag set as tight as it will go . I dont want any slippage .
  7. What do you have to trade and what are you looking for ?
  8. I wear full brim hat , sometimes even a straw hat . But I'm not going long pants and sleeves . I slather the sunscreen on all exposed areas and where short sleeves and shorts . I try to avoid 85 degree plus weather . I was a firefighter for 27 years and got overheated too many times .
  9. I dont know why blues popularity has declined . It once was an extremely popular color . Most people now only use it in conjunction with black not on its own . Fine with me . I'm presenting an effective color to bass that havent been exposed much to it .
  10. Kirksville has a hospital and two nearby lakes Hazel creek and Thousand Hills . Macon has a hospital and two nearby lakes Thomas Hill and Long Branch ..
  11. A buddy and I fished together a lot . We both used plastic worms . His color was blue mine was purple .We both caught bass. The color made no difference . A couple of years ago I found a great buy on 8 inch Manns blueberry Jelly worms and bought 200 . I've been using them a bunch and catching a lot . Are bass mistaking them for bluegill,? thats a lot of speculation . I think it just looks alive .
  12. I have used the Cordell Gay Blade in summer with success but its not a lure I use a lot . Little George lures and jigging spoons too .
  13. I dont recall ever gut hooking a fish with a Texas rig but I dont recall lots of stuff . It happens rarely anyway .
  14. If I'm in heavy brush and feel a tap, at times I will weigh the line momentarily too see if there is something on there but not play tug of war . Setting hooks in brush are not free with a two dollar tungsten weight , 1 dollar hook and fifty cent worm . Plus scaring the fish in the brush with a phantom hookset . They will usually hit again if not spooked . Thats one of the nice things about worms .
  15. I super glue soft swimbaits to buzzers .
  16. Another way to fish this type of brush and I do it often is cast past it , then quickly reel in to where you want it to drop .
  17. I know what you mean . I was watching a scott Martin video and he took a long time to set the hook . I waste no time .
  18. super glue
  19. I accept it and live with it .?
  20. Thats a problem I use to have . All my fish this year have come on four categories . Spinnerbait , toad , worm and crankbait .
  21. When I'm fishing deep flats I do so quickly usually with a crankbait . As soon as I hook a bass , I toss a marker buoy . I'll continue to throw a crank as long as I catch more fish , then I pick up a worm rod , Sometimes the worm is the way to go . Last week I found a school on a point and caught one with a crankbait but subsequent cast resulted in nothing . I caught a couple with the worm . I think the crankbait scattered the school .Those fish are getting a lot of pressure now . Next time I'll start out with the worm .
  22. Twain reminds me a lot of Truman , bet they would work well here .
  23. Slowing down equals fast action a lot of times . Cousin and I limited out in 12 cast once . Two six fish, 15 inch limits . On Texas rigged Lizards .
  24. I fish an electric motor lake a lot . I fish my way from spot to spot . I'm only going to slow down when I get to a place that calls for it, otherwise I'm covering water as efficiently as I know how , with lots of parallel casting
