  1. Looks like the answer is no . I cant imagine doing such a complex modification .
  2. I use to catch quite a few on a five inch grub fished as a top water . I used a worm hook and 1/8 ounce weight . I t-rigged them with the hook ran all the way through ,exposed much of the time .Its subtle and the strikes were viscous .
  3. I also use a trailer hook almost 100 per cent of the time . Cant remember the last time I havent used one .
  4. I've notice on my depth finder that the majority of the fish have been much shallower than the thermocline this year. I can only assume there is a comfort zone there . Maybe more 02 . I still expect the fish to go deeper every time out . Last week the thermoclne was at seventeen and the fish were congregated at ten foot .
  5. I use buzzbaits and dont set the hook on sound , I wait untilI can feel them . Sometimes carp get spooked by the buzzbait and they make a big commotion .
  6. I have caught a lot of bass from bank .Its mostly location . I fished , sloughs , ponds ,rivers , bays and Irrigation ditches can be real good . The thing these places have in common is little fishing pressure .
  7. When Larry Nixon speaks I listen .
  8. Often surfacing bass are hard to catch and even harder to resist . If I cant get them to hit I try to ignore them and concentrate on nearby cover or structure . In your case weeds . I would double down on weightless texas rigged plastics .
  9. In a shoot-out or a grind-out one big fish might win it . Probably the same amount of skill to win either one .
  10. I had a plan before starting . A 200 acre lake , fishing from a jon boat with electric motor only . I dont have the luxury of motoring around so I go to the nearest spot then on to the next ... and fish in between spots . 1: fish main lake point - resulted in 2 bass 8 foot deep on worm 2 : fish main lake flat - zero 3 : fish sunken brush pile in creek - zero 4 : fish stumps in creek with a slight channel running through- Bingo several bass caught at six foot on worm and crankbait { between spots 4 and 5 I catch several bass from laydowns with a worm } 5 : Fish sunken brush pile main lake - zero 6 : Fish main lake lay downs - zero So , main lake water was eliminated , and I concentrated fishing cover in the creeks .
  11. Buzzbait is my sundown lure .there is always one tied on windy or calm . A chugger " big loud popper " is good too .
  12. . Theres a good video here where Glenn demonstrates how to set the hook. He explains to take most of the slack out but not all of it , then set the hook .
  13. Top secret lure , Jelly Worms . Forgotten by most anglers , still raking them in for me and the top secret color , blue .
  14. Yesterday I only had two fish in the first two hours . I figured something out caught seven 15 inch keepers and about thirty total. Spent about 10 hours fishing and only left because it was getting late .
  15. Same here .
  16. My favorite is chucking a buzzbait . What I do the most are T-rig worms .
  17. Those taps could be a a six inch fish or a 6 lber . Its hard to explain but I weigh my line without putting pressure on the fish . If it feels heavy I let em have it .That way I'm not setting the hook in thick brush when nothing is on it . Some days little ones are nipping at it and some days almost all the taps are in a basses mouth .
  18. I run into the same thing up here in Missouri . Im catching most of my fish in shoreline brush like it was May . Cant explain it but as long as I'm catching them I'm happy .
  19. I need to add Rapala Fat Rap to the Boom list . Bass were close mouth on cranks today but the Fat Rap seduced a few... ...and add the Red Eye Shad to the bust list . One of my favorite but they just havent got it done this year.
  20. I think the top 51 anglers weighed in 153 limits in three days . Thats unreal .
  21. Caught about thirty today with seven over 15 inches . Nothing huge . This was the best one caught on an 8 inch jelly Worm .
  22. You can fish plastic worms everywhere . !/2 ounce seems like to much weight to me in vegetation unless you were punching , which it doesnt sound like you were .Fairly mossed over I would go weightless or a light weight . If the vegetation is at the surface twitch it on the top and pause in any openings . A Senko type worm works well for this because they are easy to cast weightless . As far as bouncing on the bottom , yes , you just dont need a half ounce weight .
  23. I had a period of about two years where every big bass I hooked came off . I was trying to horse them in like the pros do . Now unless i have to pressure them out of heavy cover , I let them tire themselves out . Since I been landing most of my big fish .The only decent one I can recall losing in the last several years came at night on a plastic worm . I dont think I got the hook penetration on that one .
  24. I did the same thing a few tourneys back.
