  1. Then I would try lo n slow's advice . Might even go down to 2.0 .
  2. This vintage Rogers Big Jim is the most successful crankbait I ever used. Sadly I lost this one in a tree but was lucky enough to have an identical one . I picked the two up at an antique store . They dont have a lot action , no rattle but they "hunt" . One day the bass were taking it so deeply that I was spending more time unhooking fish than fishing . I switched to another brand and caught more bass because they were caught on the back hook and easily removed .
  3. I'm surprised today was cancelled . The weather doesnt appear severe .
  4. I have a 6'6'' Shimano Compere med light. I had such a large percentage of bass come off using it that it no longer gets used .
  5. Cool . I'm going to watch these .
  6. I only caught two bass skipping baits .I inserted a Johnson Silver Minnow inside a tube and caught them under docks at Table Rock . It was pretty cool . I kept the weed guard on the lure . Just bent it down .
  7. Watch Scott Martins videos on You-Tube when he is pre-fishing for tournaments .
  8. I LOL . I love a pitchers duel and despise home run derbies .
  9. I would like to see a tough tourney where limits are rare and the anglers have to grind it out . These shootouts are like watching an action movie. Heck guys are catching limits thirty minutes after take off .
  10. In weed lines for example you will find cuts and juts and the bass may prefer one over the other . Cuts maybe a little deeper , juts might be a little shallower or the bottom composition may have changed . Its hard to know what bass prefer on a given day without trying it all . Do I pitch inches apart , feet apart , yards apart or further just depends on what I find that day . I will not pass by isolated cover be it weeds , wood , whatever without giving it a thorough effort .
  11. Johnson Silver Minnow skips like a rock .
  12. I use the Trilene almost exclusively . Palomar is great too , the Trilene is just what I'm use to and I always get a nice strong , neat knot .
  13. I use the smaller 3.0 to 4.0 hooks on larger worms too . I dont know if I get more bites but I feel I get more hookups . Your wife fights bass like shes done it before . I see some of the younger pros dancing back and forth and waving their rod around like an orchestra conductor .
  14. Do it however you want too . Sometimes I move the boat a long distance to get from spot to spot and other times I will fish it all .
  15. I have one hanging in a tree . Had several buzzbaits that the blade wore out on . As far as a bait that " always hooks up " Never seen one .
  16. No clue either but a Buzzbait is a buzzbait . Some of my best ones have been generic no name baits .
  17. I have one 6XD in Sexy Shad which has caught fish . Deep diving crankbaits I like to use chartreuse based patterns like Fire Tiger and white based patterns like the Sexy Shad simply because I have success with them in stained water .
  18. Worse than the backlash are the fifty coils that sometimes come off a spinning reel .
  19. Soft spoken guys like Guido Hibdon or Rick Clunn would make for an enjoyable day . Those pros who hoot and holler like a chimpanzee when they land a nice bass get on my nerves . Thy act like its their first decent bass .
  20. I was canoeing solo down a river when a storm blew up . I paddled to the hilly side of the river and squeezed up tight against a boulder and watched trees get blown over across the river .
  21. Your using some light equipment which is OK. Trying a thinner wire 1/0 hook might make a difference .
  22. First . for Champlain . I was last in this group for the second time , so no one will copy off me . KVD Wiggins Reese Jordan Clunn
  23. How deep ? I have different favorites for different depths .
