  1. That albino blue is cool . I caught this flathead on a crappie sized jig and grub . Not fishing for any speices in particular , just trying to get bites .
  2. I would go with a six inch worm . Mid size balances well with my gear and I'm just comfortable with it . . I wouldnt be skimpy on weight and am not a follower of using as light a weight possible . A 3/16th , 1/4 or 5/16 ounce weight on a skinny six inch worm and you can cover a lot of water .
  3. There is less gap in an ewg than a standard hook . I only use EWG's on fat baits . As long as the " gape "is twice the thickness of the bait I will use it . I define and may very well be be wrong , gape is the distance from point to shank and gap the distance from eye to point . I feel I get better hookups with a standard hook when using a skinny bait like a Jelly Worm .
  4. They ought to tank test them and then package them as left or right runners . Then convince bass fisherman that they need both .
  5. Those who say they fish for one or two bites are just making an excuse for not being able to catch fish . just kidding , just kidding .
  6. LOL , yep . Snag it in the middle and it might wiggle back and forth like a fighting fish . Thats always a nice rug pull .
  7. I use the small and the large . I use the smaller one the most , if I can get away with casting it .
  8. If I was stranded I would go with a Bic lighter with a hook .
  9. Everybody or team but one didnt win . Better luck next time . Next tourney a huge stringer may be caught shallow . Tournaments are usually won or lost pre-fishing .
  10. I'm going to remember this tip .Good idea .
  11. Yum Swurm T-rigged weightless with a heavy hook . With a little finesse it will go through it . You need a big hook to help in casting and also too reel a big bass stuck in several lbs of goo . I fish it in slimy moss whenever I encounter it . I.m not refering to milfoil , hydrilla , fox grass...I'm talking slime or as bluebasser aptly puts it "Gorilla Snot" .
  12. Rip rap banks , wing dams and creeks . My favorite carnk bait for the big river is the Bomber Flat A in chartreuse . Small heavy spinnerbaits work well in the current . Good luck.
  13. Fishing below lock and dams I go for bites not bass . Cheap jig heads with grubs , Rocket Shads and other small heavy casting lures are the ticket . I target current breaks, let the lures sink and try not to get snagged to often . I catch lots of different species and its a lot of fun .
  14. I have some mojo weights but never have used them .They have been sitting in my tackle box for twenty to thirty years . I dont know why any soft plastic bait would not work.
  15. I do both . Id rather catch 50 bass with two big ones thrown in than just two big ones . With numbers comes size .
  16. As long as the gape is twice the size of the thickness of the bait it will work .Bigger hooks are ok but I dont go much bigger . I dont even know what size I'm using half the time , I just measure them up then tie it on .
  17. I use everything and just dont seem much difference . I caught a nice bass the other night using a purple jelly worm as a trailer . It looks like the jig and eel that the old timers remember .
  18. Hes not having trouble with the nose sliding down .
  19. The shallow bass should stay active longer , perhaps all day . But if you have a good deep spot , dont forget about it .
  20. ...or fishing line in a brushpile , left behind by crappie anglers .
  21. Most fishermen do not allow t sinking lures to sink . Spinnerbaits , rattle traps... work real well in deep water . I use the two lures mentioned out on deep points often . You will lose a few lures to snags though . You might want to go with inexpensive ones or lures out of clearance bins . But any lure that sinks is more versatile than the way most use them .
  22. I set the hook on a barge rope , I believe , below a dam . I fougtt and fought that rope . Just when I thought I was winning the battle the current would take it back down stream .This went on for a long time .
  23. Lee Sisson balsa wood crankbait . I bought several of them . i made acast with one and removed it. Had the worse action I ever seen . I hope the others are better or that was a waste of thirty dollars . I have some new in box if someone wants to trade .
  24. Grabbing a fishing pole and gear , jumping on my bike and going to the Mississippi river . I'm glad we didnt hunt pokemon in those days . I had fish and I wanted to "catch em all ".
  25. . The Crankin Rap both shallow and deep divers have quickly become a favorite the past two years .
