  1. Beetle spins snag up a lot more often than spinnerbaits with fixed arms. They are among the worse lures for getting hung up. They also catch tons of fish. If you want one weedless you will have to create your own . http://www.fishingmonthly.com.au/img/uploads/86781141ad27ea2e27f157008448c953_ThornBushBash_6.jpg
  2. I can remember a snake , turtle, and a mouse in different bass I've caught .
  3. Buzzbaits,
  4. Nice. I will never catch a 10 lb bass .
  5. It has a lip like the Manns Deep baits only much sharper. I bay have to try and sand a Manns lip down .
  6. Google Gapen Ugly Bug and see if that is what you are looking for .
  7. Not anybody can go catch a fish in the middle of winter. Good job .
  8. Youre a real fisherman. You have a good time when you dont catch anything .
  9. That is why there are giant catfish in Missouri . ...and congrats on a new record. I should be seeing your name in the Conservationist soon. I think I caught a record White Sucker out of the Salt river. I had no idea and released it.
  10. I dont mind retying , I dont do it enough. But I'm using mono. Some cranks use to come with snaps . I never had any problem with them .
  11. When every bass fisherman out there can find the same great looking structure , its hard to locate bass. In the lakes I frequent , the large arches on points , humps and flats are usually channel cats or huge shad. But the bass are there , because at night in the summer they will hit buzzbaits shallow on these spots . So you just have to put in the time and work hard , its not always easy .
  12. A healthy bass population will produce an astronomical number of fry . This ensures survival of the species from predators natural disasters...

I have a couple of old ones but dont use them much. They are fish catchers but are a little larger and dive deeper than the old Big Jims I use.
  14. you could always use a whole punch and a plastic butter lid. Save the disc and put it over the hook after the eel is on. Thats how I keep trailer hooks on.
  15. Good question. I always had a hard time removing the things. Maybe they are making them different than the ones I use to use .
  16. Leatherman Wave or Charge they have Pliers , knife , screwdrivers , saw and a "diamond" file for sharpening hooks. I even sharpened the eyeglass screwdriver to a point , to break the paint out of jighead eyes. Keep an eye out for clearance sales and stockpile jig heads , hooks , weights... Those spring hook keepers are valuable as are DOA pinch weights. I can make my own swim bait hook on the water with these .
  17. On a hot sunny day in the summer I like to go to the deep standing timber and retrieve it as noisily as I can.We call it chugging . I have an old bigger Pop R that works well. This is a numbers game not a big fish catcher. 50 to 100 fish days are common.
  18. I think post spawn fish are more vulnerable than spawning fish , which I find difficult to catch. My best days have been running points after the spawn .
  19. Dont know which will catch more fish but nothing is funner than buzzbaits .
  20. I used it to peg a Texas rigged weight in place .
  21. I'd love to have crankbaits that remained perfectly balanced , straight up and down but tailed left or right.
  22. ...and if its real windy and your trying to make precise cast , then take the skirt off. No color .
  23. Those little x-raps with the dressed trebels are one of my favorite lures for little fish below the slot. Dont know if the feather helps or not but when they become crankbait shy its time to pull out the x-rap. My best jerkbait day last year I accidentally left a yellow bobber stop on my line. What the heck, I slid it about six inches in front of the X-rap it looked like the little lure was chasing a small something. Dont know if that actually helped get more bites or not just know I caught a lot of fish .
