I was given a bunch of lures last year. Three I cant ID. I just dont know new lures that well. The middle one haw Ireland written on the lip.

My boat was an 85 or 86 and bought new .

Sounds like a street lizard .

I did a search and see DOA makes one .

I'd like to have some 1/8th ounce jig heads for small crappie sized lures like grubs and shads. They need to have a short shank with a wide gap . Jigs designed to catch bass not panfish. Any suggestions ?

You need to read a lot about 2 time BASS angler of the year Guido Hibdon. He could explain how to do it. He said when he got a bite on light line in heavy cover , he would easily pull the bass in the open , then set the hook . I never tried it.

You get to enjoy all four seasons for sure.

When I first started bass fishing , I changed lures a lot. It was exciting and I wanted to know each ones strengths.Some colors have just worked well for me and I stick with them. I have tried Sexy Shad but it hasnt caught a lot , yet. . I would say it was by trial and error. If I had a Deep Wee R in Sexy Shad then It would probably be successful lol.

I have a few old chartreuse ones somewhere. I would think the new ones are the same . I bought 6 of the deep chartreuse Flat A's to use on the Mississippi but havent fished the big river for a number of years .

I use a diamond file on a Leatherman . It sharpens hooks great. I've been looking at the sharpened hooks through a jeweler's loupe and noticed that a lot of them had a false point , a weak spot caused by the file going from the point out. This false point will bend on the first hooked fish. So I am trying to do a more careful job and only sharpen from the point in , no back and forth motion.

My new ride. I've been boatless for a year. My wife wanted a pontoon boat , something that she could enjoy. After much searching , I found this 22 foot Lowe semi v deck boat . Put an 80 lb thrust elec. motor on it and a couple of new depthfinders and we are both tickled. Only got to fish out of it once this fall. It was a very windy day and the boat fished much better than I thought it would. Never mind the messy garage. I had to move things out of the way to get the boat to fit. and my other two rides

This^^ I had a ProCraft that served me well. One day I noticed it was not floating level. One of the compartments was leaking and the wood stringer on that side was rotted away. Serious structure damage. Look at the bottom of this photo. No stringer. At the far left part of it is visible.

Are you bank fishing these ponds ? I have never used Lipless cranks bank fishing. They catch fish but I would be hung up constantly.

Last year I was tearing the bass up on a chartreuse spinnerbait on an early spring week day. Two days later I went back to the lake on the weekend and the bite had died. The lake was full of boats and everyone I saw was throwing chartreuse spinnerbaits . I switched to a squarebill and was back on fish. I think bass get accustomed to spinnerbaits because they are so good everyone throws them. When the bite slows down I either switch baits or go with smaller blades and less visible skirts .

Little beetle spins made for crappie are terrible for bass because the jig heads are too small , they skip out of the mouth. There is not enough gap between the eye and the point . I lost a lot of fish on them too. The big Bass Buster Beetle that Virgil Ward used a lot is not being made anymore. I just make my own.
