Extra spools?
Several years ago I simplified my fishing but limiting the nipumber if different weighted lines I use. For me it really worked well. i use exclusively fluro, except for Carolina rig. I do use braid and fluro leader on a couple of spinning rods. i use 12# test on all of my baitcasters, except 10# on my cranking rods. On my spinning rods I use 8# test and if Im fishing a very clear lake I tie on a 6# leader. I’ve never had an issue landing a fish. This method allows me to focus on which rod action etc I want to use and not on my line. In essence the reeves are now interchangeable with my rods. I also save money because I can buy my line in bulk and not have to worry about wasting line on a filler spool, or having to invest in several different large spool lines of different weight. Just a thought I’m sharing

Vehicle Organization? Mandatory Gear?
I have a 2016 Chevy 1500 club cab. 1. Plastic box with jack and lug nut wrench for my boat, wheel chucks, boat light adapter, and hitch slide with ball. 2. I have another small plastic box that has cleaner and wax to clean my boat when I get off of the water. WHEN I FISH A TOIURNAMENT I TAKE: 1. When I fish a tournament I early or late in the season I put a duffle bag with heavy cloths and gloves, etc. I also put in a pair of chest waders, because you never know what the lake level may be like, or if the ramp has a courtesy dock. I’ve had to use them a few times to launch or load my boat. 2. I also have put together a box with bags of bait and bait colors I typically don’t use. I’ve gone to this box several times after pre-fishing with success. 3. I also take a box with extra fishing line and spooler

GOOD AGM DEEP CYCLE BATTERY
Thank you. That’s what I thought. The Odessey battery has identical specs, but is $50.00 more. That’s why I’m getting the duel purpose battery for cranking and boat electronics. Thank you

GOOD AGM DEEP CYCLE BATTERY
Thanks. I have a lot of electronics on my boat and I’m always concerned of running out of main battery power during a fishing tournament.

BPT / MLF Format Rules Needs To Change !!
I guess some people just don’t like change. With the MLF you still have to catch fish. How many of us weekend angles would love to catch 60+ bass in a da? The approach for these tournament fishermen is distinctly different than the traditional five bass weigh-in, but you have to admit, the MLF was successful enough to buy the FLW tour, and the Bassmaster’s cut the number of elite anglers competing and had to put in a lot of incentive money. So, the MFL must be doing something’s right...

Dropshot/finesse spinning setup
I I agree, but I’d give thought to upgrading to a Dobyns Champion XP DC 682SF it’s a little more money, but Ilove this rod for a wide range of finesse applications.

Where and when to dropshot?
My approach to dropshotting may be different. For me, I use it once I find fish. It’s definitely not a search bait technique. You can sit in 60 feet of water and jig in 30-40 foot trees for suspended bass (this is a popular summer pattern at Tablerock lake). You cal also use it for shallow fish casting it up shallow and working it back, but here again the key marking fish or have confidence that fish are in the area.

Anyone use both L-R handed casting reels ?
I find being able to cast right and left happened an advantage to getting my bait where I want. If you are positioning your boat, especially if there’s a wind your left side may be facing the front of your boat and if you’re only right handed you’re actually fighting your left side. The best example I can give is if you’re fishing boat docks.

Line recommendations
YZH is good like, but frankly I use Yozuri topknot fluro. It’s a great line and you can get it now T Tacklewarehouse for $8.49.

- What braided line to use for hand tying jigs?

BOSS jigs and skirts, opinions?
I make all of my own jigs. I use their skirt material and powder paint. Great products.

Spinning Cast Distance
I would respectfully disagree. The action is defined by where the the tip of the rod actually bends. The after the action the greater rod load, or “whip” from the rod tip and you should expect a longer cast. Matter of fact, G-Loomis use to advertise longe and more accurate casts with an extra fast action

Spinning Cast Distance
Thank yes the line on the reel is an issue, but I think the main problem is the rod. You need to be using a Med/light rod. An extra-fast action will maximize distance, but you should also do well with a fast action.

Johnny Morris Platinum Baitcasting reel vs. Shimano SLX?
Here again, bearings make a reel. The SLX is a 4 bearing reel compared to a 10 bearing reel with the Johnny Morris. Just saying....

Johnny Morris Platinum Baitcasting reel vs. Shimano SLX?
I have several Johnny Morris platinums as well as Shimano curandos. The Johnny Morris is a great reel, but I change the bearings to Bica orange seal bearings after a while. Please understand you don’t have to change the bearings, but IMO for $40 more and an initial investment of $150 you have a reel that performs like a $300 reel. i would suggest the Jonney Morris, or you can get a Lew’s tournament MB online for $120. I love the reel and it would be my choice.

Bass sight distance is four times the human. So, if you drops white spinner bait into the water measure the distance down you can see it, then multiply that by four will equal the distance a bass can see your bait.

Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris Platinum Signature Casting Rod
Check them out. See what weight range the medium action takes. If it matches what you’re fishing, I would purchase the Medium action. I would also suggest bend the tip and check out the action to see if it’s not too stiff. I think the vast majority of their actions are fast.

ISO someone to pour custom plastics
I can do both. What colors?

Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris Platinum Signature Casting Rod
I own several Johnny Morris platinum reels. They are great, but I change out their bearings with orange seal boca bearings and it’s easy to do. The only down side is that they are a little heavier than say the shimano, Lews, or Diana. I personally do not care for their rods. IMHO they a little stiff for their action.

Line choice
Alright, I’ll stick my neck out. I use 12lb fluro on basically all of my baitcasters with the exception of 10lb fluro on my crankbait rods. My resoning is based on the fact that I fish pretty clear water, but more importantly, the max drag on most my reels is 14 lb. if my max drag is 14lb, theoretically I would not need a line with a lb. test weight greater than that. Honestly, I’ve done this for decades and have never had an issue, but you have to use a high quality line and a good knot. have you ever had a snag and cussed your line because you had to work so hard to break it off? its almost like you have braid on.... LOL

St. Croix Legend Xtreme or G loomis GLX
I have both also and I would agree you would not go wrong with either. IMHO, I think the Legend has a little more backbone, and for that reason if I were to choose between the two, I’d lean toward the GLX, nut again it’s depending on what type of bait you’re going to fish with it.
