  1. I was just wondering if anyone from Georgia or Alabama ever goes out on Walter F. George Reservoir/ Lake Eufuala? I am looking for some local guys to hook up with. Its a great lake with plenty of good fishing. I hope I am not the only one from the area on the forum.
  2. One of my weaknesses is that I don't get out of my comfort zone enough. I am comfortable with soft plastics so I use them 85% percent of the time. I've just started seriously targeting bass in september of this year. I have caught maybe 10 bass, all on soft plastics. I always thow a spinner or crank bait a few times when I'm out, but when they don't get bit I always resort back to my soft plastics rather quickly. I think next time I go out Ill leave the soft stuff at home. Another weakness of mine is finding fish in deep water. I don't have a fish finder yet. I usually either beat the bank or fish off a jon boat w/ trolling motor at my favorite pond.I can locate the fish along the shoreline and shallow structure fairly easily using sight and sound. When I move out to the deep water where the owner says the lunkers are I always feel like I'm casting blindly into the abyss. I spend more time wondering if there are fish there than I do auctually fishing. Have any of you guys tried that hummin bird portable fishing buddy? Im thinking about getting it.
  3. It is my favorite too. Do you watch Gettin Schooled with JP Derose? I like that show too but he isn't as entertaining as Dave. I kind of like Kayak Bassin too.
  4. I like Facts of Fishing with Dave Mercer. He is a funny guy. I'd love to get out the water with him.
  5. Where I live you can pretty well fish all year round, but I have a new illness. It is called "Stuck at home with the babies while the wife works on the weekends fever". I get out when I can but it isn't nearly enough. I fish vicariously through you guys. lol
  6. The Gulp! I was talking about is a spray on scent called gulp alive. I've never it before but it was 5 bucks at dicks so i figured I would give it a try.
  7. I was wondering if you guys could give me the run down on how to present flukes and trickworms? and have you guys ever tried Gulp! Alive ? What do you think of it?
  8. Which Lew's reel do you have and how much are you wanting for it? I have never owned a Lew's, but my bass fishing guru swears by them. lol.
  9. Awesome story. That's one heck of a fish.
  10. Beautiful fish. I think based on looks alone the peacocks are my favorite. I haven't had a chance to fish for them yet though. Very nice fish. Keep it up.
  11. I wasn't able to get to the water while in Tuscaloosa. I was just wanting to kill some time , stay outta trouble and maybe catch something worth showing you guys. Im heading back to my necks of the woods now to plan an outting. Thanks for the replies guys. I like to hear what you guys think.
  12. that's what im thinkin too. its atleast a chance to fish away from my home lake. my fish of the year so far was a dink so it wouldn't take much to be the catch of the year. lol
  13. Im going out of town for 3 days and 3 nights next week to work. I'm not sure where I'll be staying yet but I will be in Tuscaloosa, AL. I know I will be working ten hour days. My question for you guy is : Would you bring some gear and try to squeeze in some fishing if you were me? I will be RIDING in a company vehicle. So I will have to use public transportation or walk to get to the water if there is any available. Any fishing I did would have to be after dark since I work from 6:30 am to 5 pm. My co-workers don't think its a good idea but they don't fish. I think bringing my little 4'6" ultra light and some light tackle is an awesome idea. What do you guys think?
  14. I would like to purchase my first rod and reel specifically for bass fishing but I don't know where to start. I have about$ 150 to spend. I live in a small town so Dick's is probably gonna be my best bet. Should I buy the rod and reel combo or should i pair somthing up myself? If so what would you suggest? What name brands should I look for and which should I avoid? Should I buy a spinning reel or baitcaster? Can I buy one rig to spin and crank with or do i need two different rigs? Thanks in advance for your help.
  15. Thank you guys.
  16. Hi my name is Caylub. I am from the Lake Eufuala area. I am new to bass fishing , as green as the fish I am seeking you might say. I am looking forward to learning from your posts, taking my new found knowledge out on to the lake, and making some like minded friends.
