  1. Best purchase you can make. It's one of those things where once you get it you wonder how you went without it Tight lines Andrew
  2. Guides are guides I have st croix rages with micros on them I have LTBs with modified micros( I think ) I have Mojos with normal guides on them they all do the same thing and that's keep the line close to the rod blank. Sure micros have it closer but it truly doesn't matter at least to me, you shouldn't pick a rod based on what type of guides it has but by how that rod feels in your hand . Just my .02 Tight lines Andrew
  3. St croix mojo bass spinnerbaits rod 7" mh/f the do everything u need it to rod it's a beast and you should like it a lot
  4. Yes sorry I thought I had posted that yes the mojo bass one.
  5. It depends entirely on what I'm doing and water clarity I use braid on all outfits with the exception of my cranking rod. For slow moving baits I use a fluoro leader. For reaction baits I will generally direct tie unless the water is extremely clear or the fish are spooky Tight lines Andrew
  6. If you can deal with the length the St Croix swimbait rod will be an excellent choice I frog, flip and pitch A-rig and other various techniques that need a long rod and heavy action. You can get it brand new for about a 130 probably cheaper on the TW Black Friday sale Tight lines Andrew
  7. Thanks for all the input guys I will probably just throw the 6 inch versions of said lures Virginia aint much of a big swimbait place anyway
  8. So I have a mojo bass swimbait rod with a Lew's super duty that I use for my A-rig fishing. I want to start getting into chucking swimbaits and noticed that just about any 8 inch lure such as a hudd or a BBZ-1 aren't within the 1-4 oz lure ratings on the rod. From other owners of this rod that use them for swimbaits do u think that this rod would be able to handle lures such as the ones I mentioned above? Thanks in advance Tight lines Andrew
  9. Get two St Croix mojo bass spinnerbait rods 7" MHF that way you can have one rod with a t-rig or jig tied on and the other with a spinnerbait
  10. 6"10 MLXF St Croix Rage spinning rod 10# Power Pro and 8# trilene 100% fluoro leader
  11. Thanks for the advice I'm hoping that the conditions will be good for spinnerbaits because that's my favorite thing to throw any specific color of trap that seems to work better than most? Thanks for the replies Andrew
  12. I'm fishing in a junior bass tournament on the 29th out of Aquia Creek and was wondering what the bass are doing this time of year on it. This will be my first time fishing this river so I really dipont know what to expect. I would like to have somewhat of a game plan going into practice on Saturday if anyone can give me any advice on this river it would be greatly appreciated thanks. Tight lines Andrew
  13. I fish jigs on my St croix mojo bass 7 foot mh fast when im pitching into cover I will use my LTB 6"6 mh fast jig rod for flipping docks and throwing anything else I feel like throwing on it technique specifics are just words on the handle for what its recomended for.
  14. Get some KVD line and lure i don't personally use it but everyone raves about it on here so I wouldn't hesitate to get some. For knots I use either the Trilene knot or the palomar. Most knots will work with fluorocarbon just make sure the wet the knot really good before you cinch it down or you could burn the fluoro and compromise the strength of your knot. With casting it can be a little more challenging to handle than mono but you will get the hang of it after a few casts good luck tight lines Andrew
  15. I read an article written by Jonathan Vandam that talks about doing this when bass are deep as it allows you to get to the desired depth and stay in the strike zone much longer and its not as boring as trolling as your casting and retrieving with my trolling motor on high i can empty my spool in about 20 seconds tight lines Andrew
  16. If your willing to spend $400 on a rod look at the ST Croix legend extreme they have a 6'10 M x-fast tip that will be able to throw an 1/8th ounce jig no problem not to mention the sensitivity on all St Croix rods are amazing. My Legend tournament is so sensitive that its like i can feel a bass look at my bait. With your price range you really cant go wrong with any of the upper end rods. Good Luck and Tight lines Andrew
  17. Time for a fun thread if you were fishing in the bassmaster classic what song would you come onto stage to mine would be Redneck yacht club by Craig Morgan
  18. If you have a fly rod throw something tiny like a nymph if not get your favorite topwater and tie a 5 or 6 inch leader from one of the hooks and tie the nymph on it you can catch bass and blue gill with it fly fisher man have used this technique forever for bream and bass Tight lines Andrew
  19. If they had an action that I wanted in a certain length that my company didn't offer for about the same price I would probably get the rod
  20. I like my St Croix's but wouldn't hesitate to jump on a rod in an action I was looking for from a different company if the price is right. All rods are designed to catch fish it's really just a confidence thing Tight lines Andrew
  21. Pro qualifier definitely I have four and the won't quit the dual breaking system is great and they handle light baits pretty well you won't be disappointed Tight lines Andrew
  22. I just replaced the cord on mine and am using 550 paracord and really like it
