You could try a jig or a big Texas or Carolina rig on the same point that will normally weed out the little ones and if you aren't catching fish on that try a Yum money minnow on a swimbait hook or a bigger square bill like a 2.0 or 2.5 Tight lines Andrew

What state are you located in most states have a junior BASS nation league where you only fish against people under 18

If you want to try a quality fluoro that doesn't break the bank try seaguar red label it's cheap and does what I want of it. another decent one I found is trilene 100%. That's just my .02 cents Tight lines Andrew

I like using circle hooks in 2/0 I've had good luck and normally don't gut hook fish. If I need to add weight I use the storm suspend strips

Lew's tournament mg get all the factory lube out of it and clean and lube it well and then your casting 1/4 baits with ease

I have a veritas and four Mojos either way your getting a good rod the veritas does have a stiffer action compared to the mojo but for about the same price your getting great rods and great customer service that pure fishing and St croix offers good luck Tight lines Andrew
