  1. My favorite snack while fishing is beef jerky, and I take the small desiccant packet in there and put it into my trays. I also have the silica packets that will be included with many household items like electronics, clothing, and so on. These can be bought for really cheap on ebay.
  2. On my dropshot rod my entire hand is forward of the reels post. On my tube rod the reels post is usually between my middle and ring finger.
  3. Check out the Daiwa AIRD. Tackle Tour just about blew a load over this reel.
  4. The regular price they sell the rest of the GYCB items are still very competitive even with any sale pricing out there, so it can still be a good deal if you have $50 of stuff to order because the shipping will be free. I took advantage of the offer and go several other GYCB products, too.
  5. I also have a dedicated drop shot rod ready at all times. The dropshot weights in my opinion are a no brainer as they make for very quick and easy adjustments to the leader length, and also to change the size of the weight - if conditions require it. Also, should your weight get snagged in some rock - or something - then it is a lot easier to have the line break off at the weight then to do so much farther up. I use 10# braid with a 6# FC line as the leader.
  6. I had a chance to use mine today, and I really like the SV spool! I was casting a 5" senko unweighted t-rigged on a Mustad 4/0 EWG hook. The reel is mounted on a 6'8" Crucial MH/F. Line is 10# Silver Thread fluorocarbon. It was really windy today and had no issues casting, even into the wind. I had my brakes set on 5 for all but the last few casts when I took them down to 0. It was pretty easy to control @ 5 with little to no need to use my thumb. At 0 I had a slight overrun, but I also think that the wind helped out, too. I'm really happy with this reel, and for the price they can be ordered for right now I will be considering at least 1 more of these. I'm even more excited to see any possible variations Daiwa releases per their typical doing.
  7. I am so happy I got to clear out 3 DSG's of their Crucials when this was going on!!!!
  8. Spinning: Pfleuger Trion reel on a BPS Graphite Series rod. This it was about $80 in total. Casting: Lew's Tournament on a 1st generation Veritas rod. I think it was about $200 in total.
  9. If it's the very tip you can buy replacements at Walmart. Do it yourself.
  10. Layering is the best option. A base layer of some sort of active wear like Under Armor is good followed by your normal clothing, and then the final layer being a Gore-Tex weather suit. This is how I stay warm on long runs on Lake Erie in the early spring and late fall.
  11. Try emailing Seagaur. Maybe they have a larger spool available for "dealers" like tackle shops.
  12. What type of line do you have on the reel?
  13. To the OP the suggestion of mono to start with is a sound one for all the reasons stated by others.
  14. That's a sizeable investment for something you might not like doing/using.
  15. I fish them more like a spinnerbait.
  16. Yes they do, and very comfortably. I am very happy with my purchase.
  17. Zoom finesse worm, t-rigged in Junebug color.
  18. I just picked up the Cocoon Style Line MX in the Ink color frames. The lenses on mine are the Green Mirror. Oddly, the website shows that the Green Mirror is only available in the black frames though. So far they are really comfortable.
  19. Have you used the GL2 rods to be able to say it's "a bad line of rods"? I own one and like it. It's overpriced, but definitely not a bad line of rods.
  20. Not yet, but I will in a few days.
  21. I got mine a few days ago, but haven't used it yet. I'll check if the spool fits in older Alphas models. My gut feeling is that it will. My first impression is that it will be a great little reel.
  22. I use two craws. Rage Tail and PTL Craw d'oeuvre.
  23. Nice! As I look out my office window I am overcome with excitement for the new season!
  24. My EMS tracking showed my reel in Chicago customs on the 16th, but then today it showed it was released. It was actually delivered today. You'll be okay.
