  1. I was in your shoes, and went with a 6'6" length rod. It's easier to use in areas from shore that are covered over by growth. Just something to consider.
  2. I'm waiting for the type r to come out.
  3. Like spinner baits, there are many ways to fish them. Slow retrieves on the bottom, fast retrieves up top, yo-yo through the water column, etc. When I first started bass fishing the chatterbait was my confidence bait. I personally don't use a plastic trailer anymore, and haven't noticed a difference in the effectiveness of the thing. #1 recommendation is to sharpen the hook. They suck right out of the package.
  4. I love this time of year! It seems like the fish are throwing themselves at the opportunity to bite my hook! How are you all doing?
  5. I did, and that's why I'm doubting the size. It's a beautiful fish, that goes without saying. Just having trouble with you saying it being 7lbs. 4 to 5lbs okay, but not 7.
  6. Nice fish, but maybe leave a reference in the photo like the "7lber" next to your rod. Just saying.
  7. Like with the Culprit worms I use the black senko with the blue tip. That color combination seems to work best in the waters I fish. When I joined the bass club I'm currently in last year I saw that all the other guys use that, too.
  8. I had the touchscreen rapala scale you're looking at. I had two go bad on me this spring because of rain. I just use a non digital scale I picked up at a time flea market.
  9. I use the black with blue tail in the 7.5".
  10. I t-rig mine and use them for pitching into cover.
  11. Yesterday, I did okay with the RI beaver in the color they call corn dog. It's a brown w/chartreuse tips. Overall, darker colors work best for me. Black, brown, green, purple.
  12. I've tried nearly every brand of spinnerbait, and I swear by War Eagle spinnerbaits. I typically stick with 3/8oz or 1/2oz. Occasionally I will go with a 3/4oz when fishing water 20' and over. My preferred blade configuration is a single Colorado blade so I can slow roll along the bottom. Color is ALWAYS black/blue. Blade color: gold. Double willow bladed spinnerbaits are what I use when I need to burn it back, or through grass/weeds. Color isn't that important to me here for the skirt, but it always have gold/silver blades. I'll use an Indiana blade for those "in between" moments. As far as a trailer hook: no. As far as a plastic trailer/grub: no. Tried both, and they did nothing for me. I also started using a technique I learned about from an old KVD video where he explained to pause during the retrieve, and bass will usually hit it during the fall. Spinnerbaits are my search baits. Once I get a fish or two in a spot on a spinnerbait I'll grab my t-rig setup and trying mopping up the rest. Oh, and I always keep my rod pointed down at the water. Keeping it up at a 12 o'clock position seems like it would make it harder to get a good hook set. Just my thoughts.
  13. Try the xcite baits craws. Good price, and nice action.
  14. I also like the missile baits dbomb.
  15. I love the 10# Yo-Zuri hybrid, and use it with no problems on a baitcaster.
  16. This is the most civilized I've seen a thread like this go!
  17. I have a veritas and revo s, and while it's a good combo I would spend my money differently if I had to go back and do it again. For the same price range you can put together a St. Croix major bass/lew's tournament speed spool, and have a nicer setup in my opinion. My 7' MH/F veritas is now my frogging rod because of how stiff it feels. I'm not at all saying the veritas sucks, but again for the same amount of money I really think you have better options. Good luck in your search.
  18. I've never used the super slick. I'm comparing the 832 against regular PP. To me, and my ears, the PP is quieter. Why is this such an issue for you? It's my unbiased opinion whether you agree or not.
  19. But it may void the warranty. What if it breaks 6" from the tip? Then he's got a $150 tomato stake for the garden.
  20. On the Veritas rod I had it spooled to I thought it was noisier.
  21. Duckett has a 20 year warranty. Talk to them, and see what options they give you, too.
