  1. I came close to picking one up last year, but through online research - this site mainly - I didn't, and am so happy I didn't. It's a shame that a company will put out such an inferior product. I'm sure it's a big reason why Boyd Duckett left them to create his own wonderful fishing rods.
  2. Today, at Cabelas I picked up a Duckett Micro Magic 7'3" MH/F rod to pair with the Daiwa Zillion I got back during the reel trade in at BPS. I also got rod socks for my rods, and a pair of Reel Grips to try out.
  3. I use 10# Yozuri hybrid on a baitcaster for both types of lures with absolutely no issues going through vegetation.
  4. If anyone is interested the site Wide Open Spaces has some for $50 + shipping.
  5. I got both. Spooled two baitcaster with 14# trilene and headed down to a river on a 40 degree afternoon. The KVD outperformed. They both work, but since cost is about the same the KVD is the choice for me. The RM did come in handy when detailing my car. Tires, dash, and trim.
  6. After reading this last night I put a 3600 on the top rack of the dishwasher this morning before I left for work. I came home and it was fine. Lemon fresh, but fine nonetheless.
  7. I started out with that same reel last year. It's a workhorse, and a good choice. Good luck!
  8. I have a St. Croix Premier with mine. You can find them for under $100 on ebay. Great combo.
  9. Spinnerbait with the biggest Colorado blade you can get, chatterbaits (any color), and if the water is glass smooth a buzzbait.
  10. I use fingernail clippers, and they work just fine.
  11. I also use kinesio tape on my wrist and shoulder if I know I'm going for and all day fishing trip.
  12. I fished the Ohio river using a 1/2oz chatterbait in blue/black and did quite well last summer. Otherwise, you've got a good start. Spinnerbaits are something else to consider. There are good ones for $3 and $4 by Booyah & Strike King. Tight lines.
  13. I don't think it's crazy at all to throw a frog. I was fishing this weekend end, and saw a monster bullfrog in the water and I'm in Ohio.
  14. I got crawfish this weekend. I was surprised to find it at my local DSG.
  15. Here in Ohio we got to the mid 60's, and I took advantage of the day to just get a feel for the new baitcaster I picked. Got a nasty birds nest on the first cast, but d**n it if I didn't have a smile on my face while fixing it. I didn't catch anything, but I got a lot of things figured out. I also realized the new way I organized my tackle bag will not work well. Use these first early days as a chance to shake off the rust, and enjoy being out there! Tight lines!
  16. The Lew's Speed Spool is a fine baitcaster for $100,and IMHO is your best bet as a starter.
  17. Carolina rig. I avoid it like the plague.
  18. Gander mountain has a larger pack for their house brand.
  19. A sub sandwich, beef jerky, sunflower seeds, Gatorade, and my camelback filled with water.
  20. I grabbed a daiwa zillion for $170!
  21. The 100SHLA model was discounted to $199,and then I got $30 off for the reel trade in.
  22. I'd have to say the best is the Daiwa Zillion I got this weekend at Bass Pro Shops for $170.
