  1. It's been tough indeed! All I got today that's worth sharing are two 13" bass, so I guess my total is 26" so far :-)
  2. i was using booyah baby boo jig, with a rage tail baby craw trailer. i got skunked bad man! i swam it, twitched it, and everything in between, and all i got was on 7-8 inch bass :-( I guess it's true what they say that arrogance comes before the fall... i was like "oh yea i'm gonna show those guys, i got the jigs to pull the large ones, oh yea", well turns out I don't know what the heck i'm doing :-(
  3. LOL, what brand/model jig and trailer is that? I got some Booyah and KVD, and to be honest am not super impressed with quality...
  4. Thank you for your service to our great country Sir! And welcome to S.FL.!!! I read about this take-a-vet-fishing program, and perhaps I can show you some spots in Coral Springs that usually produce nice bass :-) Don't feel bad man, I've fished for 3 hours yesterday and 2 today, and all I got yesterday was a 7-8 inch baby bass, and absolutely NOTHING today. I tried jigs, 12 inch worms, lizards, and baby brush hogs. N!O!T!H!I!N!G! But I do find comfort in knowing that FL summer is the hardest time to fish for bass, or so I've been told and I believe it :-) Perhaps Juan_LMB and you and me should get together, I know this pond in front of this church that was loaded with bass last I fished there few weeks ago. Most were small, around 1-2lbs, but still fun to catch :-) Hit me up guys, I'll be going tomorrow around 6pm, if you're interested PM me your cell numbers or emails, and we'll coordinate! Martin
  5. So I went out today for 2.5 hours with a jig and some trailers (never fished a setup like that) and all I got was 1 7" bass :-( I don't think I was doing anything wrong. I let it sink, twitched it, hopped it, and swam it too. Nothing except that one fish when I was about to head back home. Lame... So do I need a pic if the fish was 7 inches? You guys believe me it was that long right? ok good, so I'm at 7 inches now...
  6. The larger canals are still good too. A deep one near me is hiding some large bass, but they're hanging out in deep water. Gonna hit that spot today and will try to win me a tournament :-)
  7. That's the plan! You sir, will eat your words soon
  8. Hmmm, sooo, aaaaa, you stand by your product and guarantee a 10lbs bass this weekend or my money back :-) LOL J/K!!! I can't find the one I got on your website, it's a craw, but the body is about half the length of the ones you have listed on the site, did I get an older model or something?
  9. I had much better hookup rations with Booyah Pod Crasher JUNIOR. The KVD frogs were very hard for me to set the hook on...
  10. What do you guys think about it having two rattles on each larger jig, over kill or a good attention getter?!?
  11. Hi Gang! So since I discovered that all the big fish are hiding deep and want a slow presentation here in S.FL. now, I decided to get some jigs and trailers after reading the massive pinned thread on jibs in this section. So I bought: 1) Booyah Boo Jigs in 4 different colors (Black/red, black/blue, brownish mix, and greenish mix) 1/2oz with 5/0 hooks. 2) Booyah Baby Boo Jigs in 3 similar different colors, not sure the weight but 5/16oz i think. 3) Strike King Rage Tail Chunk in 4 different colors (dark blue, dark green, redish, and brownish) I'll be fishing on a 6'8" MH/F Compre rod and Curado reel. There were a lot of options available at the store, but since I love the booyah frogs, I figured I'll get their jigs and I read in the epic jig thread that rage tails are good too, so... noob does as noob does... I'm clueless, NEVER fished this bait and technique before. So do you guys think it's a good starting setup for jigging? I also have other craw fish tails at home that I got long ago and never used since I realized they're for jigs after I bought them :-) Also, the booyah jigs have a head that is flat on one side so it looks like the hook will be sticking up at an angle and so will the tail. I understand it makes a defensive position of craw fish presentation which may be better. Your thoughts? Comments? Thanks! Martin
  12. Alright, i'm ready and it's on! Just dropped $70 at bass pro on jigs and rage tail craws, will hit my honey hole this weekend, twice, going deep and slow :-)
  13. Thanks! With my brother coming to visit, and the next 3 weekends I've got no plans for, I think I'll be able to put a fight this time around, I hope :-)
  14. Are you trying to say that arrogance comes before the fall? LOL! I don't have a boat, fstr385 does, and I'm hoping to solicit his help this month... and LgMouthGambler's too :-)
  15. OK, I'll give you guys a tip for this hot weather... drop it deep and work it slow :-) I pulled a bass that was pushing 10 pounds on a slow bottom hopping lizard :-) I switched up my technique last time I fished few days ago and it resulted in a lot of 5+lbs fish. So, fstr385, it's on! Ohhhh it's on baby!!! BTW, fstr385, when we gonna drop your little boat in the canal near my house? It will be a guaranteed 1st and 2nd place for us LOL :-D And what about that Lake O trip with my brother we've been planning???
  16. Nice, so you have a boy and a girl now! Perfect setup man! She who mush be obeyed and me pulled the same deal, 5-yo boy and 3-yo girl :-) Congratulations!!! You will be wrapped around her finger before you know it, trust me :-P
  17. You know the drill! Free for all FL fisherman, bank and boat alike. Top 5 total length wins! GO!
  18. t-rigged with 1/8oz bullet. i would cast across the canal and let it drop to the bottom (this canal has vertical walls) and soon i would feel like some whacked my rod with a big stick. other times i would feel slack or slight tension and see the line run off to the side. yea, that 7lbs LMG pulled on Thursday ain't got nothing on my monster bass from yesterday!
  19. I had my phone camera, no tape, but a rod for reference. And since I wasn't taking pics that day expecting only to catch small ones, and then this monster and the gut hook and the gills bleeding, I just decided not to. And yea, it was amazing! I'll be trying that place again in few days with some jigs :-)
  20. not too cold, but too far north i think, they haven't invaded that area... yet :-)
  21. I'm telling you guys, if I had been taking pics yesterday and had my measuring tape I would have won this tournament!!! I figured out where the bass are hiding in my honey hole canal near my house!!! That's right, i started fishing yesterday with a lizard and was casting along the banks and only catching small fry. Then as I cast across the canal and bring the bait in, a mosquito bit me, and I stopped my retrieve midway through the canal to deal with the little blood sucker. 10 seconds later I see my line run off to the side! Set the hook, and bam! I land a 5 pounder!!! I then realized they're hiding in deeper water and want a slow moving bottom bait. Over the next hour, I pulled 5-6 fish that were HUGE! The last one was pushing 10 lbs I believe! What happened was he got gut hooked, and during the hook removal surgery I also jabbed him in the gills! He was bleeding and out of the water for 2-3 minutes, and I wanted to return him back as soon as possible and in the heat of the moment decided not to take a pic and risk killing him. I'm telling you he was so large, that as I was finally removing the hook (after cutting the line and running the hook through rather than out) my left hand was holding it's jaw, and my left hand was inside it's mouth about an inch past my wrist! That thing was SOOOOO HUGE!!!!!!! I have never seen bass this big in my life; it was bigger than the 7 pounder I watched my friend pull out few days ago!!! I really wish I had a pic and could share it, but I decided that it wasn't worth killing him. Plus now I know where they are (the big ones) and how to get to them! It was great, I would let my lizard drop off to the bottom and then hop it slowly across the canal, and every few casts I would hook a monster. I swear there wasn't a single one under 5lbs! I'm so pumped now, I went out during lunch to walmart and picked up some 1/2oz and 1/4oz jigs, and will use them with crawfish and other trailers that I already have and see if I can pull this monster in again!
  22. yea, they can really mess up a frog, but i still enjoy catching them. they fight like crazy, and the strikes are just awesome... when you see it come after your frog! oh the thrill!
  23. Booooo! Booooo! Where's the "Not Like This" button when you need one!?! Boooo! Boooo! LOL J/K! They're not that bad! Great catching, gotta really sneak up on them, and good eating too, what's there not to like :-)
  24. yea, smallies, you know, a SMALL LMB :-P
  25. +1 on the snakeheads in Coral Springs, they're in every canal I hit including one right in my back yard. The only problem is that they're spawning now, almost every one I see is accompanied by another adult and a billion babies. You really have to tick them off to get them to bite when they're guarding young. Now having said that, I did catch a large one a week ago that was either a single parent or failed to secure a mate. I may be going tomorrow in the evening around 6pm. I'll let you know if/where I'll be.
