The only answer to the OP's question is YES. Baitcasters are easy to use and are much better for Bass fishing OVERALL than anything else. That said..Use what you like.

I seriously need a shimano spinning reel. They are by far the best I have ever used.

The point to take away from this was you were unimpressed with a shimano reel regardless of what model. I have lew's, Shimano, Abu, and some cheaper reels. I love all of them about the same(about...the...same). That said Shimano needs to step their game back up! The Core is a beast and I simply loved it when I fished my friends. The Chronarch is awesome but the fact of the matter is Shimano has taken the cheaper path in recent models to keep reels around a set price. This is not the way to go!

I have thrown both the E and G series curado. Worlds different and anyone who claims otherwise is just being silly. My h2o mettle is more solid than the G. With that being said, Shimano has a pretty hardcore fanbase (see this site and many others) who would buy their reels whatever the cost. Why not leave the elite reels alone and keep the quality high? Manufacture other reels to fill the gaps in the price market. The chronarch is still a great reel, and the higher you go the better you get. I am sure there are tons of people (like me) who would not mind paying an extra 100 bucks to get a better quality Curado or Chronarch.

Where and how did you get a PQ for that cheap. That is the best deal going I promise!

Really? Mine never backlashes. I have some Gen3 Revos that I hated initially but after I dialed them in (all reels are different) they work great. Never had much trouble with my Lew's though.

I have a supertuned Curado E, a Chronarch E, and some Team Lew's....GO WITH THE TEAM LEW's Gold. Blows away my other reels. I know this is preference but it is tough to beat by any of my better reels.

Shimano spinning reels are awesome. I will give them that. Not a fan of the Lew's spinning reels.

I have had a ton of success just flipping into cover. Most bigger fish (3+lbs) have been caught in cover for me.

I hope my lew's reels last a long time. Will they??? Not sure. Just like people buying a truck, we all have our favorites, but if you take care of it, it will last as long as you need it to.

**** where is that at? I am not a Daiwa guy but that rod would be awesome for punching, A-rigs, flipping or heavy swimbaits.

I like my Chronarch over the BB1.

Ranking my reels that I have currently- 1. Team Lew's Speed Spool (red)- Thing is a beast on my Dobyns DX. Casts smooth and flips even smoother. 2. Team Lew's Pro- Do not know why but it is a tad behind my other but still a dream to cast. 3. Shimano Curado 50E Supertuned- It switch this between my spinnerbait and cranking rods. Thing is awesome. 4. Abu Garcia STX gen 3 Revo- Just got this one but it is NICE! 5. Shimano Chronarch 200E- This thing is a slower speed so it limits my usage to the colder months. Thing is built solid and is probably the most reliable. 6. Lew's BB1- Topwater and this thing will cast a mile. Great for what it does. 7. h2o Mettle- Used for frogs with 65lb braid. You can not backlash this thing. I can throw frogs a mile on this right out of the box for 29.99. Best value for newer fishermen. 8. BP PQ- Literally have these on a shelf as backups due to having mulitples of some of the reels above. Good reel but can not get it to cast as good as the mettle with my braid on it. May need to be cleaned out a bit.

I will give you that. The Revos drag is obscenely high compared to the Shimano and Lew's counterparts.

1/4-3/8 oz jigs will be your best bet. I fish the stones and the duck often. Caught some smallies, LM, Spots and Redeye all off the same jig in the duck.

I have the Gen 3 Revo STX and it is a nice reel, but is no way as good to me as a Lew's TP or Team Lew's reel. I guess it is all opinion and nothing more.

I have had zero problem with my lew's and backlashing. In fact, I rarely backlash unless it is my fault. I use curados, chronarchs, both team lews, and revos.

Everyone has their favorites. I love any of the big three (abu, shimano, lews). I do not have any of the Big D's because I can not afford the higher ends.

I have two Team Lew's, Two Shimano's(Chronarch 200E, Curado 50E), and three Revos Gen 3. All have their strengths and weaknesses. I pitch with my lews, use my revos for misc, and use my shimanos for spinners and cranks. Love them all. Never bought into the whole brand specific fad. I use what is on sale that is of good quality. That is about the only way I can keep up ha ha.

Most fun you will have is throwing a buzzbait. It drives bedding fish crazy. Caught 3 3lbers in ten minutes on Friday using this method.

I bought two STX's and one Winch Gen 3 and they are awesome. Put them on the same level or slightly behind my shimano's and a little behind my Team Lew's. Pretty good to me thus far. VERY easy to dial in.

I have been fishing for about a year myself. The number one thing that has helped me is getting more familiar with jigs and plastics. A t-rigged beaver or craw flipped into cover is my favorite way to fish. Fish will always be related to cover (at least that is what I found). Even in the hottest months and coldest, they will always be in and around down brush and trees.

How much money you wanting to spend? I got my Dobyn's Extreme for $275.00, my Irod Air for $150.00, and my veritas for $99.00. All are awesome. Extreme is more for t rigged baits, the Irod Air is Heavy Xfast and is the lightest rod I have ever felt, and the Veritas is 7'10" used for flipping the big stuff. I love them all and can feel almost everything on them.
