I only have the IROD Casting Series, but I can tell you the AIR is a d**n good rod. Lighter than my DX by far and pretty sensitive.

Depends. They usually have the select "doorbuster" items (they are usually really good too). But they also do stuff like Rod Riot and give you so much off certain items.

I have a DX with a Team Lew's Pro and it is by far my best set up. The reel will cast a mile and works outstanding. I would go with a Dobyn's over almost anything. If your kid steps on your Dobyns, send it back with $60 and a new one is on its way.

Now could it be you are just a better fisherman? A rod does not make the fish jump in the boat, it simply gives you an advantage. I have two veritas and they are good, but definitely not on the same level as any of my other rods. I have a Villain that blows it away (as it should), but it falls very very short of a DX or Irod Air.

I agree with what you said. All that can be broken down into a higher quality rod, equals better sensitivity.

Honestly, it will be tough to encompass blue gill fishing with Catfishing. If you are set on using one rod to rule them all, then get an Ugly Stick with a spinning reel. Baitcasters can do everything too, but why spend the money if you are going to try and do everything with it. Baitcasters need heavier line to really shine (at least that is my experience). I would also not use a nice Bass rod to haul in Carp or Catfish on purpose, but that is just me. First choice would be an ugly stick combo. (durable, cheap, and would be great for moving baits and heavy fishing for cats and carp) Second Choice would be a H2O Mettle from Academy (29 bucks right now and that is a steal). Pair that with a cheaper rod that you are comfortable with and you are set. Now if you want to talk exclusive to Bass fishing, then we will get into some better stuff.

Ok so I guess I will chime in. Sensitivity is affected by many factors, but none more important than the rod. I have several different brands of rods and NOTHING comes close to fishing as nice as my DX. I have an Irod Air that is second best, but in terms of actually feeling the bottom and the fish, the DX blows everything away. I use the same line on all my contact rods, so it is not just the line.

I have the Pflueger Supreme MG. It has a messed up worm gear and is unusable. Anyone have any luck finding parts for these things?

If you watch academy, you can get PP or 832 line for 14 bucks or less. That is the best way to go. Seaguar will go on sale occasionally too.
