  1. I have one pointer that's missing both eyes and it seems to produce more bites than one I have of the same color with eyes haha.
  2. ^X2 I can't even get them to lay down in my tackle box haha.
  3. Yep... Haven't gone to sycamore much this year, but I heard it has been pretty good haha. Eastman produces the most fish for me, so that's why I go there more often. And I do pretty well there regardless if I'm on a boat or not haha.
  4. Most of the time I fish Eastman and Hensley and sometimes I fish along the San Joaquin river. Thanks. I will have to look into that as well haha.
  5. Yeah, I paired up my aldebaran with my nrx 893, and it is amazing haha. Although I'm still gonna save up for some upgrades for the reel and see if that can make it even better haha. Me neither, although I would like to try some megabass jdm rods. May even pick up a Destroyer X7 if I can get the cash for it haha. I have heard many positive reviews on dobyns, especially about the DX. I might really have to get one haha.
  6. Really? Have you fished a NRX? And how it compares to the DX? I can fish both, but have pretty much got rid of all my righties for lefties... I purchase them anywhere the price is good haha, but most of the time its either here or tackletour. You just have to check frequently haha.
  7. Hmm, to be honest I haven't really decided what I will use it for, but for now I'm going to say weightless plastics and dropshot. So most of the time my lure weight shouldn't be over 1/4oz. And yes, after looking at it over a few times, it does look like a pretty amazing rod that would match the sol very well haha. Just curious but how does the sensitivity of the champion extremes compare to the nrx? Well, I've never fished a dobyns so I'm just not really sure if I want to spend that much on it haha. Not to mention I just bought an aldebaran, and have already ordered tons of stuff from all the labor day sales haha. But if I do I will let you know haha.
  8. Actually with the labor day sales... I can get a champion extreme for a pretty good price... I might really pick one up haha.
  9. I was hoping not to spend over 250 since I just made another purchase last week haha. I got it off a member from tackletour. I have a 715 in the recon line and absolutely love it... I really wouldn't mind pairing it with a recon at the moment...Looks like I'll have to look at the dobyns line up too... Thanks guys.
  10. Okay guys... I just purchased sol and have been looking for a rod to pair it with. Well I want something that matches the reel so I was considering a carrot stix, but decided not to with all the negative reviews I've been seeing. And that's when I stumbled upon the Lamiglas Excel micro. So what I want to know is, have any of you guys used this line of rods? How are they? Should I get the ML or M? I'm also open to any other suggestions.
  11. As far as reels go I haven't used anything besides Shimanos and Daiwas. IMO a curado e or chronarch e will be more than enough, no need to get a core if you really don't have to. I don't personally own a core but have used it a few times and for the price a curado or chronarch can't be beat. For rods, I just received my first NRX two or so weeks ago. The sensitivity is amazing and the rod itself just feels really nice in my hands. Although... It is heavier than my phenix recon2 (the sensitivity on the recon2 is pretty amazing too), which is a little less than half the retail price of a nrx. So my personal opinion would be to look at other rod options too. And if you really want a nrx I'd say get a rep sample. It is a lot better than paying the full price for a nrx, and they are still covered by the wild card.
  12. They don't have to be floating baits. You can pretty much use anything. Just experiment and see what works best for you.
  13. For sinkers I personally use the round ones more often, no specific brand. My two top producers are a 4.5" roboworm and a 3" bento minnow. Although it seems like I've been having a lot more luck fishing the bento minnow as a jerkbait, nose hooked...
  14. I use it from the shore all the time, and it seems to work pretty well for me. Although I try to make the leader(from the hook to sinker) a bit longer that way the lure will suspend and not drag against the bottom.
  15. Putting the prices aside, would it be a better choice to get a sustain fg or ci4+? I've been debating if I should wait till I can get a ci4+ or just go ahead and purchase a sustain fg.... How do they compare to each other?
  16. pearl white zoom fluke...
  17. Yeah I've noticed the same thing with the loss fish. This may be me over thinking it, but I think its because of the swivel part of the hook. I think that when the fish inhales the lure and you set the hook the normal dropshot way, the swivel actually hits the top of the bass mouth and cause the lure to come out of the bass mouth or it is barely hooked and the bass spits it. Now if you set the hook the traditional way the, as soon as the swivel hits the top of the fishes mouth the hook will also drive into the top of the mouth, since the fish will have less time to react when the notice the little swivel hitting them. Just my thought though... I could be completely wrong haha.
  18. Thanks guys. Guess I'll be picking up a 893.
  19. I probably would never spend 500+ for a single rod haha. I plan to get a rep sample which will hopefully be a little nicer on my wallet haha. Transportation shouldn't be an issue since the rod should fit in my car. Thanks for all the input guys. I'm really leaning towards the 893.
  20. I made a post quite a while back about getting a new combo, well I finally got the funds for it, but know I'm not sure which one to get. For sure I am going to get a NRX. I'm just not sure which one. I'm debating on the 893, 854, and 853. I plan to use it for senkos, weighless flukes, and 1/4-3/8oz jigs. I fish primarily from the bank. I'm leaning towards the 893 or 853. I know they have the same specs and all except the length. Does the extra 4" make much of a difference? I don't want the rod to be to long since I fish from the bank. Oh yeah I'm 5'7" if that matters...
  21. Thanks. The lake I caught it in holds some big sunfish for sure. This one was about average sized compared to the red ear sunfishes that I usually catch there. I caught my pb red ear there which was around 17", unfortunately I didn't bring a scale that day.
  22. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it is a hybrid between and bluegill and a red ear sunfish.
  23. I don't even know how he managed to get half of the lizard and the 4/0 ewg hook into his mouth. Nevertheless it put up a good fight haha.
  24. I use 10# yo zuri for casting and 6# invizx for spinnning. I never really found the need to go any heavier, although I mostly fish reservoirs that do not have much weeds.
  25. I use the smaller ones when dropshotting and both the bass and crappie seem to like it. Its probably my go to drop shot lure. I've used the bigger one as a soft jerk bait by nose hooking it, and have caught a few nice ones on that as well.
