  1. My wife receives countless catalogs in the mail, especially now. This time of the year I spend some time with her as she's going through them. She always comments about some of the items she likes in the catalogs. The majority of my presents for her are already on order and it was pretty simple, and I know she will like what I get.
  2. Granted, Glenn and this site has done a lot of good sorta part of the Thousand Points of Light George Bush Sr once spoke about - referring to community service and youth. But did UPS just decide to get on board with CAST out of the goodness of their own heart or did somebody we all know grease the wheels? LBH, you deserve the kudos man live with it!
  3. Sorry guys, but I gotta back out of the Cabelas trip. Got back from the surgeon this morning. Seems I sorta shattered my left knee 3 months ago, and torn the meniscus, and have really made things worse by waiting until now to have it checked. Surgeon said its really bad, but if I stay completely off it with crutches for 6 weeks, it might heal enough where I won't have to get it replaced. But I will still have to have the meniscus operation in mid January if I don't get the knee replaced. Man... what next!!!!! >
  4. You might also want to check out the www.teambass-usa.com circuit. Marcia Rubin (Reelady) and Mike Iaconelli fished as a team in one of their tournaments last month here in PA. I know they have tournaments in CT and MA/RI. And some proceeds go to help children.
  5. If I don't get a chance to go to the Cabelas double super secret sale at the end of this month, I may join you guys in January. Is the Bait Monkey making a special appearance?
  6. I fished Promised Land lake many moons ago, but haven't been there in over 20 years. It had some really nice sized bass, good weeds, points, and they really hit well on topwater, especially in early morning or twilight. I only ever fished it in a boat, so I couldn't comment on bank fishing. If you get a chance to fish it I would recommend it. I stopped fishing it and switched to Tobyhanna Lake, because it was closer to my wife's family vacation spot at Lake Jammie.
  7. I think you're from the Philly area, so the water temperatures should be getting dangerously cold. I would advise against fishing in a "blowup boat," especially the way the winds kick up this time of year. I would suggest to fish from the bank where you can cast to some deeper water near dropoffs, and use live minnows, as it may be your best shot this time of the year from shore. I just took my boat to get winterized this morning. If you're willing to come up to Beltzville for some smallmouth or Mauch Chunk for largemouth in the spring (about 1.5 hours north of you), shoot me a message sometime.

Muddy we live in the cyber times you can listen any time through the internet streams: http://www.wwoz.org/ontheair/streaminfo http://www.wfmu.org/audiostream.shtml
  9. This spring I tuned a spinnerbait in the swimming pool before I went fishing. Went out and couldn't buy a bite on the spinnerbait. Added some scent and started catching fish. Don't know if the chlorine had anything to do with it, but just in case, now whenever I try a lure out in the pool I always add scent to it afterwards.

Muddy, . Go with Penn State! Joe Paterno is best known for football, but is also an outstanding role model, mentor and leader, humanitarian and philanthropist. How many colleges do you know have their library named after a football coach. But bottom line muddy is... JoePa is also a Brooklyn native enough said ehhh.
  11. You look at that picture of Redlinerobert with Paris Hilton snuggled up close and think... If I were that girls parent..."

Woke up to 8 inches of snow this morning. Of course the snow was too wet and heavy for the snowblower. The few parts of my body that didn't hurt before - do now! :-[

Yeah... good one Muddy! Oscar Wilde was right... "The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it."
  15. If you have more fishing rods than your wife has shoes! If 90% of the shirts you wear have a picture of a bass on them! If the engine on your boat is larger than the one in your vehicle! If getting lucky relates to you catching bass! If you have more than 365 posts to your name at BassResource.com and you've been a member less than a year!
  16. Until I got my most recent boat, I had always used cable TM steering. This one has a electronic TM steering. I personally like the cable better Faster response and less prone to problems.

I didn't know he was lost.
  18. There are those that interpret our Constitution and Amendments for what they say, and those who interpret them for what they could say. The second amendment is truly one of these instances. When it comes to the second amendment, I think we should read the Founding Fathers (the men who created the documents that guaranteed freedom for all of us) thoughts on the Second Amendment before we start interpreting it. http://www.madisonbrigade.com/library_ff.htm
  19. I understand your frustration. The cost of prescription health plans has gone through the roof. To get anything over a very basic plan, you are often looking at a cost to a company of over $100 per person per month. And what other countries do is often illegal or at best blackmail. And if we think we should do what they do, then there will soon be no pharmaceutical companies left in existence and no drugs! And when was the last time you've heard of Canada, or France, or the UK developed a new type of drug? Also, drug companies can't get any protection from crazy lawsuits. So, here is what I tell people to do. Print out the list of the Wal-Mart $4.00 drugs from their website. When you go to your doctor tell them to prescribe something off the list, at the listed strength (very important, because only certain strengths are at the $4.00 price, even though the drug is the same). http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=546834 It has saved many people I talk to tons of money. I myself save over $500 alone per year by doing this.
  20. I kinda feel the same way as some of the concerns expressed If I'm gonna sell a company's product, why do I have to buy it? And I also understand that companies don't want to give product away with no guarantees of enough sales to at least cover costs. But it doesn't make sense to me when companies see these concerns and trepidation's, they often don't adapt to the situation, or come up with something innovative (not to say this company doesn't do it). If it were my company, and I decided to go the angler direct sales route, that I would be advertising something like After the tenth sale generated by you, our company will reimburse you for your initial purchase of the product. Sorta gives additional incentive to sell the units. Sounds like a winwin situation? I hope Stayncharge does well in their business endeavor. It's not easy for a small business to succeed these days.
  21. Shovel snow almost every morning, because the winds blow the snow from the snowmaking machines at the ski resort on top of the mountain down to my place (and I'm on the other sidegeeez!). >

Muddy, Here are two sites I view when trying to get (as best I can) non-partisan views of things: POLITICS: http://www.smartvoter.org/ (a section of League of Women Voters: non-partisan reporting, but they do try to influence policy through advocacy) TAXES: http://www.taxfoundation.org/

Muddy, you are correct, we don't seem to get real reporting were we make our own decisions based upon the facts. We seem to get opinions in the guise of reporting. Steven Brill (founder of the American lawyer magazine as well as cable's COURT TV) put it best when he said, "When it comes to arrogance, power and lack of accountability, journalists are probably the only people on the planet who make lawyers look good." I guess it is our responsibility to determine facts from friction in the reporting, and figure out what's the truth. And yes, I agree with you that we are in for inflation and a recession, maybe a really bad one. I think we might see the DOW drop 25% before its over. If I were advising people, I'd tell them to save, and move some stocks into short-term treasuries. It's going to get a lot worse, before it gets better.
