  1. Muddy, really great idea you've got there! If we can get shirts over to any military BR members serving in the middle-east who want them, I don't care if I never see a dime from the extras I had made up.
  2. #1 Black #2 Watermelon w/red flake #3 Green Pumpkin
  3. Man I take a few days off from BR and all heck breaks loose. Muddy, hope you recharge your batteries and get back on here soon. Many of your posts bring a much needed smile and chuckle on those tough days. I guess my only advice is that you've sometimes got to take the good with the bad. As with so much in life, too often we tend to discount all the good times, and focus on the few negative experiences. If not for this forum, we would never have gotten the chance to fish together. I really enjoyed our evening trip to Mauch Chunk. Truth be told, it's not often I find someone I like fishing with. Usually a partner's fishing style and personality make it more of a chore than a fun experience. The hours flew by, and more than anything, I'd call the trip a blast from the past. With all the new hot lures, I've gotten away from the pure pleasure of catching them on topwater with those old time lures (it's been decades since I've seen a Jitterstick). Over the weekend, I went through the deepest darkest bowels of my fishing tackle and got together some of my old topwater lures for our next trip Jitterbugs, Torpedos, Crazy Crawlers, Dalton Specials, Zara Spooks and one of my old favorites the Bass Oreno (If it ain't fifty, it ain't nifty!). I'm looking forward to our next evening outing and enjoying those topwater explosions on lures made during a time when things were much less complicated.
  4. Whewwww forgot the Muddy/Avid factor when I came up with the topic. my mistake! The instrument had something that was hooked to the waist, and held almost like you would hold a guitar but just a little more vertical. When he let my daughter try it out, he said the instrument was tapped, rather than strummed. He was playing popular, folk, blues, and classical songs during the evening. My daughter chose Edelweiss as the song he played at our table. From their website: As they approach the fretboard from opposite sides, your fingers line up parallel to the frets and a powerful new musical language emerges - bass lines, lead melodies, chords, and rhythm, simultaneously, and in any combination you desire.
  5. This might be a long shot, but does anyone play, or is familiar with The Stick. Personally, I'm one degree short of being tone deaf. But I have a 10 year old daughter who is extremely bright, creative, and talented. For the last 6 months she has wanted to learn to play an instrument, but has been agonizing (yes a 10 year old agonizing and it's scary sometimes) about what instrument to pick. The other week we went on a family vacation. At dinner one evening there was a musician serenading tables with an instrument called The Stick. I've never seen one before, but the music that comes out of this thing was absolutely amazing. He let my daughter try it out, and now she has decided this is the instrument she wants to learn. I swear it almost sounds like you hear guitar, bass, keyboards and drums out of this thing. The way he described it was, that it's a cross between a guitar and a piano. I've checked out their website. The demo they have doesn't do the instrument justice, but the links section that connects to Stick players shows what this thing can do. My main question and concern is Is it hard to learn to play this instrument? (Another one will be if I can even find someone to instruct her, but they do also sell instructional books. If anybody knows anything about this instrument, and can give me advise, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Joe www.stick.com

Yup... remember them and still use them (I prefer the #2 & #3 plain Agilas with gold blade). They are my most productive lure right before the spawn, for those red-eyed smallmouth on Beltzville Lake in the western Poconos.

Camera accessory found, PC working so-so, exorcism performed on shirt. Muddy asked awhile ago for me to post a picture of the Mook shirt. Couldn't find a decent model willing to work for lures had to settle on me.
  8. I'm not in on the giveaway, but I can attest to the effectiveness of the MegaStrike Fish Attractant. Those of you that get it in the giveaway better hide that tube, or it will be stolen by your fishing partners! I speak from experience.
  9. Hmmmm.. What year is it? Sad to admit, but some of my rods have line on them from several years ago. Most rods get spooled at the beginning of the season then some get respooled when we transition from spring into summer and I want a heavier pound test, some when too much line has been lost off the reel, any time the line breaks when I feel it shouldn't, any time too much memory is in it, when my wife is driving me nutz, or as in most cases whenever I feel like it. Jerry McKinnis asked me that very same question in one of his seminars... he got the same answer as above from me. Actually it was just the type of answer he was looking for, and proceeded to talk about the importance of changing line on a regular basis something like line is the most important element between two jerks on either end.

  11. Muddy (THE HUMAN COLOR-C-LECTOR and MASTER OF ANTIQUE TOPWATER LURE NIGHT FISHING) told me he was going to post on the board the 2 PM's I sent him yesterday morning. I got to fish with him last night and learned a few new spots (after I showed up a half an hour late, after sitting for 30 minutes in a massive traffic jam caused by an accident hopefully the last effect of the cursed Mook shirts). Even if we wouldn't have caught any bass, his humor and stories would have made the trip worth while. And the guy presented me with a really nice casting rod. Last evening I kept checking my Color-C-Lector as the light was changing, and I would let him know what the key color was. The guy would say I just put that color on SPOOKY! When I get home this evening (after stopping at a Catholic church to get some holy water to sprinkle on the 2 cursed Mook shirts I kept), I'm confident my digital camera and new computer will start to work again and I will post pictures of the Mook shirts. . Wish me luck!

Happy Birthday Russ. My young wife also turns 40 30+change in 6 days. She's taking it rather hard. You might be too young, but I remember (as one of the last of the Hippies) the old phrase Never trust anyone over thirty. How things have changed Now its Never trust anyone under thirty.

Muddy, Penns Peak in Jim Thorpe, PA is having: Blues on the Mountain Featuring The Campbell Brothers & Shemekia Copeland on October 13th. Tickets are only $20 in advance if you're interested. And on November 17th, they're having Joe Bonamassa and Sam Bush, and tickets are $22 in advance. Pat Benatar is there this Thursday, and with everything going on, I forgot to get tickets for my wife's birthday (I'm in the dog house once again).
  14. Bobby, My son-in-law and I have a rule on our boat what's mine is yours and what's yours is mine" except it seems for his dang tube of MegaStrike Fish Attractant. Every time I ask him to throw it up to me he can't seem to find it, yet I'll glance back a couple of minutes later and there he is smearing it all over his plastic stick bait. Yeah, I know, I should just go out and get some for myself but now it's a matter of principle. And it's now funny watching him go through all the tackle bags at the start of every fishing trip trying to find it. Gee, I don't know where it could be wink, wink. Good stuff you got there. It's become know on the boat as THE SHMUTZ

A man driving outside of Baltimore, Maryland was southbound on Interstate 95 in the far right hand lane traveling at 55 mph, minding his own business. He noticed in his rear view mirror that a Maryland State Trooper was right behind him. A mile later nothing changed, except now he's driving at 65 mph, the maximum limit. Several miles further along, the Trooper's right on his bumper and the man increases his speed to 75 mph. The Trooper activates his lights and siren and the man reluctantly pulls onto the shoulder. After the Trooper demands the man's driver's license and registration, he sez, "Mr. {Smith}, I cannot for the life of me figure out why, when you knew I was behind you for quite some time, you sped up knowing that you could be cited for speeding. What in the world caused you to do that ? The man looked relieved, stared the Trooper directly in the eye and softly spoke, "Trooper, three months ago, my wife ran off with a Maryland State Trooper. I thought you were him, bringing her back."

  17. Sounds like THE JIG IS UP!
  18. Just an idea. A fishing friend of mine also has a grandson with ADD, along with some other problems. He likes to take his grandson fishing, but always seemed to have to cut the day short. He ended up getting him a Remote Controlled Boat to take along on the trips, and the kid has a blast when fishing runs it course. One added benefit to the RC Boat is when they fish docks that have some clearance. He places his lure on the back of the boat, opens up the bail, and tells his grandson where to get the boat under the docks. When the RC boat is pretty far under the docks he gives the lure a tug, and it falls into the water much farther underneath the dock than he can ever get to by casting.
  19. Bread lightly buttered with sliced fresh (non-cooked) Hungarian Wax hot peppers a real eye opener and tastes great too.
  20. Something hit me as being odd in that statement posted above: So, am I the only person who sees the price I pay for GYCB Senkos go up almost every year? What am I missing here?
  21. Question: You're trapped in a room with a tiger, a rattlesnake, and a Yankees fan. You have a gun with two bullets. What should you do? Answer: Shoot the Yankees Fan.......Twice!
  22. When it comes to any stick baits, solid black is my top producer, followed by watermelon/red flake, green pumpkin, black w/blue flake, and pumpkinseed. Other colors that also work well for me are watermelon w/black flake, smoke, white, and purple. But solid black is the best in my opinion, and *** just happens to have the best prices on stick baits with salt.

I think George W is right, sounds like an ant swarm (happens when a new Queen leaves the colony). And since you are becoming an amateur meteorologist, you can combine the two areas of intrest, and become a SWARM CHASER.
  24. Surfer pretty much hit the nail on the head with his description and problems with the Cuda 168. I have both the 250 and 168 on my boat, although not the portable ones. Man it is aggravating having to hit the "Clear" button all the time when the unit gets messed up in shallow water and starts showing wrong info. The Cuda 250 was on the boat when I got it, and I picked up the 168 this spring at Walmart when they marked it down to $15.
