  1. Being the rod is 6'8" and i would assume pretty stiff, how would casting be? Would casting distance be hindered, because it won't load up good? Or?
  2. You own the model i'm looking at right? It's not too stout or like a broomstick in your opinion?
  3. It wasn't directed to you, i understand. Didn't think about that considering I'm 16. I've realized that posting a topic with more of a specific title on for say brand specific, doesn't get me a good majority of responses. I've been def. leaning towards the xfast action as well.
  4. Alright, I'm not getting some very good responses/none at all on my other post. This one is a little more general sounding. Alright so I'm looking at a worm and jig rod. It may not be the best rod, but I'm getting a great deal on it. My question is what would be better an xfast action or fast action to use this for jigs and plastics (mostly texas rigs.) I will use it all year round and in the summer in pretty deep water 15ft+. The rod is a Shimano Clarus 6'8" med heavy xfast or fast action. Which one should i get, which will give me the best sensitivity, best visible tip detection, be the best for these applications, and not be overkill that i set the hook way too hard lol. Thanks, Zach
  5. Also what lb. test should i buy. I was leaning towards 15lb. fluoro, so i can jig as well. Seaguar abrazx or invisx?
  6. Alright, so i've been looking around at a worm/jig rod. I have came across a great deal on a Clarus casting rod. The rod is a 6'8" med heavy xfast tip. I was wondering for using this with texas rigs/other plastics and jigs. Should i stick with the xfast action or should i get the same one in fast action. Would it be bad to have an xfast, because you might not be able to see the tip move, or would the rod being stiff be good for sensitivity. Also i was wondering about the sensitivity of these rods, and what you could compare it to? Thanks, Zach
  7. Yea I'm pretty much sold on the ***, thanks everyone!
  8. Alright thanks! I'll have to see if my Gander Mtn. has one. I get hands on there and buy it online haha. I've done that with reels
  9. Also would you say the *** in 7'1" med heavy, fast, casting rod be good for plastics and jigs, possibly even spinnerbaits?
  10. Pretty much every rod I've been looking at seems to be pretty good. I just need to start narrowing it down. Though I'm probably not going to go for the Veritas anymore
  11. Sensitivity wise, how would you say they seem to be.
  12. What is your take on the power rating? Do you think they are too soft as well? I haven't really taken the time to really "look" at them. I'm talking about the BuCoo
  13. I've felt them before, hate the new model.. lol
  14. I've read some nice reviews on them. Which model/length do you have. How light is the rod, and is it tip heavy?
  15. I'm going to have check out the ***, I've been looking at Tackle Warehouse, which is where i buy most of my tackle, rods, etc. I didn't even realize the price of the ***, because I haven't checked it in a while. It is definitely a contender now that I see the price. Also those of you that said about Falcon being made in USA, Lamiglas is also made in the US. The only reason i was shying away from Falcon, were the ones that I felt seemed not their power rating, and not stiff enough for what I want.
  16. I forgot to mention, no tip heavy also. I know Abu's tend to be, but I'm a fan of the Veritas
  17. Hey, so I've been looking around at rods around the $100-$130ish price range. I'm looking for a med. heavy rod with a fast or x-fast tip for texas rigs, many different plastics, some jigging, and even maybe some spinnerbaits. I have chosen a few companies, not necessarily the rod yet, on which one I'm debating on buying. I would like to get a rod and stick with the company, and buy more from the company, so I don't have a multitude of "colors" on my boat "lol." The rods/companies I have been looking at will be listed below. Please give me your opinions on the best choice, or maybe even on ones I don't have listed. My biggest factor is sensitivity, lightweight, and durability, sensitivity/lightweight being the most. All Casting Rods - Abu Garcia Veritas 6'9" med-heavy, x-fast (my original choice, mostly for worms/jigs) - Falcon BuCoo 6'10" med-heavy, fast - Halo Twilite 7' med-heavy, fast - Lamiglas Excel 7' med-heavy, fast (I'm leaning towards this company/rod, except the guides seem to have problems, also the rods are orange, but not a big deal for me) Thanks, Zach
  18. I'll add it in a bit, I'll just tell you through here, I'm in Southwestern PA
  19. Thanks for the info! The only reason I didn't state about the winter, is because you can't really fish in the winter up here on boats, to my understanding, on my reservoir. I've been reading and taking notes for a good while now, and i have a good feel for what Im going up against. Thanks, Zach
  20. Hello, alright I have a "problem." I'm new to bass fishing off of a boat. Since we have just purchased one, and have not been able to get out on the water yet. My question, is that I have been looking around at videos, articles, and what not. Telling me where to fish through prespawn through fall. A lot of these that I have heard, tell you to go in like the back creeks/break offs from the main lake, like during prespawn and whatnot. Where do I go if the lake is manmade? There are like little "inlets" on the lake, but I'm not grasping the concept. In prespawn you look for like the dropoff to the spawn flats, i think. Of course in spawn you look for flats and what not. Summer is more deepwater structure and whatnot. So what should I do? Where should i fish in-- -Prespawn -Spawn -Post -Summer -Fall I would greatly appreciate the help! Thanks, Zach
  21. Hello, so I've came across a structure map of this lake. I won't try to hide anything since the map is open to the public. I was wondering if any of you could help me on where to fish on this map, without actually seeing the lake. I would like to know if you could give me, what you would think are good prespawn, spawn, postspawn, summer, and fall spots. I'm a little new to the game, being 15, we have finally got a boat "haha." The lake is 899 acres, so it is quite large. I'm not to sure about where to go, but if you look at the map, if you go up to the right of the launch, its mostly "deepwater" structure, will that be good in the summer? I am trusting this forum and the people on it to be good genuine help, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks, Zach Link-----http://fishandboat.com/water/habitat/mgmt_plans/lake/quemahoning.pdf ^Also ignore the statement that says, "proposed structure" I'm pretty sure they put it in If it would be easier to respond with help, my email is fe3tper2nd@aol.com
  22. minnows/shiners/shad as well, it mostly has everything and also there are many different species in some parts there are trout (mostly brown), carp, catfish, some walleye, etc.. The map makes sense to me im just asking what structure i should fish around what times of year, u can see all this on the map
  23. the lake is 899 acres, water clarity is clear, not too much vegetation (that i know of). Its mostly warmwater/coolwater transition it's mostly pike and both lmb and smb, panfish (bluegill, etc) most likely some frogs around shore and crawfish. Not too sure of the water temp im in the northeastern part of US, but the map that i have shows the structure that was put in the lake, its not a road map. I was asking what structures on this map are the best around the times of year. it also shows depth.
