  1. Of course I did. If you can't tell the difference then the choice is obvious for you. IMO there is a difference in durability and stretch at lighter lb test.
  2. Not all FC's are made the same. Give it a try for yourself.
  3. Sniper between these two. I prefer Seaguar over both.
  4. Have you guys seen this ... Holy cow! http://www.in-fisherman.com/2014/02/28/world-record-sunfish/
  5. Thanks for the input. Looks like I have some more exploring to do.
  6. No such thing as a "wrong handed" reel. If it works for you it is right.
  7. Not taking the cast means you stop fishing. Um ... yeah I would take it and the next one, and the next one ...
  8. I just bought my 1st round reel ... I was extremely curious about them and decided to invest in an Abu Ambassadeur. Can't wait to try it.
  9. I was in the same boat a few years ago. Don't worry there is plenty of time to catch up. 2 full years in and I blame this site for helping me learn fast. I have a 6 year old who is quickly becoming my fishing buddy. I am so happy about that.

  11. I have use the rodent and baby rodents (Strike King). Have had marginal success with both but nothing to brag about. I have more success with their Game Hawg or Zoom Brush Hogs.
  12. Another vote for the Strike King 5xd for that depth. If you are trying to clip the grass you mentioned in your post? If so then my answer would change based on the height of that grass. You want a CB which you can get down there and clip that grass with. So knowing the depth in which that grass peaks is your ideal depth. Good luck.
  13. I have two 3 piece rods which I carry on with me. Reels also go with me on the plane. Hooks have always been a problem with me carrying on so I check my tackle in with my bag.
  14. When I began my research this winter I was obsessed with the Predator. I was convinced that this was the boat I was going to buy. As impulsive as I am I held back and decided to dig on with my research. When I got to see the Predator alongside the Ride 115x there were a few things for me which steered me in the Ride's direction. (no pun) 1 - Seat. Both seats were comfortable. The rides seemed more comfortable for me. 2 - Size. The predator is a beast! I generally fish alone and was looking for something a bit more manageable to put on my car when going fishing. I could see myself battling this monster trying to get it on/off my car. The ride was more compact and lighter overall. 3 - Customizability - This is truly a personal preference but the track system and center console made for extremely easy customization without any serious drilling etc. The predator has these areas where you can put stuff including a track if you want but I like the fact that it's there already when I buy the Ride. 4 - Colors - That Dusk color is sick. I saw it in person on another Wilderness System kayak and fell in love with it. When it appeals to your eye it's hard to move away from it. 5 - Did I mention the center console. I love the fact that the transducer is right below the boat, in the water and placed in a manner which optimizes it effectiveness. You need to rig it onto the Predator to come close. Hope this helps.
  15. Ike, KVD and Aaron Martens.
  16. Between those two ... for Flippin and Pitchin go with the ProMax! The higher gear ratio will allow you to bring in that much more line when you get bit on a jig or weighted t-rig setup. I have both and love them as well. Bought two Orra's and an ambassadeur. Abu has been good to me. By the way I also own a BPS Pro Qualifier and if you were torn to pick between the two I would have to go with BPS qualifier as well. Got mine on sale.
  17. You know its bad when you go shopping for tackle, go to put it away and find that you already bought it. LOL
  18. I have a few "other" LCB's but generally stick to the 1/2oz Red Eye Shad. I don't have 36. Somewhere in the 20's and counting. So many cool colors
  19. Up where I am the jerk, jerk pause approach didn't seem to get them to bite. When I slowly reeled them with a weighted hook I got a ton of bites.
  20. Agree on the best one around. There are two others I go to if time permits and boredom has the best of me. That is the New England Expo and the BassPro Spring Classic event in Mass.
  21. Wandered over to the "Black Bass France" website and found this video. Really fun to watch ... Had to share.
  22. I will be there Sunday. Should be a great show. I was there last year and enjoyed it a ton!
  23. Pickerel seem to bite on just about anything. I have caught them on frogs, swimbaits, spinnerbaits, LCB, CB's etc. All while targeting bass. One lure which seemed to kill them one day was the Havoc Subwoofer fished as a topwater bait. They hated that thing! I went through 2 packs one day targeting them because I wasn't getting bit by bass from the bank.
  24. 15lb Braid with a 6-10lb leader if necessary. Gives you a lot of flexibility depending on what you are trying to do with the combo. For wacky I generally throw an 8lb leader.
  25. Your setup should be just fine. Very similar to mine. My single go-to combination is as follows 6'6" MH Spinning rod AbuGarcia Orra S30 with 10lb PowerPro Braid I carry 8-10lb FC to add a leader if I feel it's necessary. It's what I started on and always carry it with me now.
