  1. The bass at the other end could care less how much your setup cost.
  2. I like simple. I think I am going to test the waters with this setup and see. Thanks
  3. Learned something big time here. The line diameter comments makes a ton of sense here.
  4. I just did a little writeup on my 115x purchase and why I bought it ... if it will help you it's here. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/131930-bit-the-bullet-on-a-new-ride/ I just can't wait to run around the lake in it. If spring does not come soon I am going to run that thing in the ice. LOL
  5. Couldn't help it ... This reminded me of this
  6. LOL ... I am an organizing and prep freak as well ... that is why I find that too much can sometimes be too much if you know what I mean. FWIW I am reorganizing my tackle now and planned to do a little writeup on what I keep with me and how I adjust certain things based on the tournament. I think with proper research and preparation you can travel with a more compact system and still be prepared for pretty much any condition. Funny because as I write this I recall my 1st bag was small (4 3600's). This current one is 4 3700's in size. Maybe by my 4-5 year I will be buying one of these too.
  7. That is one huge bag. As a fellow co-angler I can definitely appreciate wanting to be prepared for anything. I found that when I had too much to choose from it became overwhelming to try and manage in the midst of a tournament. My bag holds 4 3700's worth of tackle and it has not failed me yet.
  8. Seahawks did it and they won a Superbowl shortly thereafter. Guess this is the trend now. A new uniform, new coach = superbowl. It didn't work out to well for the Dolphins ... maybe because their new uniform looked too much like their old. LOL I guess we will see.
  9. Very, very sick of winter ... spent more money on fishing than I care to imagine but some high hopes for this year ... a few new setups to try out and a new Ride 115x on it's way for when the ice does decide to disappear.
  10. I use the uni-to-uni knot
  11. I have been toying with the idea of building my own rod just to add another hobby which revolved around fishing. Stlbob - you got it right ... DVT is one of the sponsors. http://www.delawarevalleytackle.com/
  12. Zoom shakey and mag. shakey worm. Caught me my PB Smallmouth. 5.89lbs
  13. Mine doesn't fish ... she has other interests. But she supports my "need" to go fishing. Even with 4 kids I get out a lot more than most single guys! I am trying to convert some of my kids towards the dark side. Little by little the two younger ones are showing an interest. Let's see if it sticks. LOL
  14. Then I am a big softy too! Howell made it easy to get that way. I'm a huge fan now too!!
  15. As I understand it it's a braid first. I would treat it like any other braid.
  16. This is an awesome pic. Reminded me of a Capt. Shane video I watched a while back .... http://youtu.be/wtvFnIszgLI?t=5m50s
  17. If it's small enough that you HAVE to take a pic it's a dink. LOL (check out my avitar). IMO ... I tend to refer to marginal keepers or less as dinks.
  18. Finesse swimbait, jig and a senko handy from the banks once the ice thaws.
  19. My Gander Mountain actually had the DT-6's fully stocked. I bought one just because it was there. Sad but true ... LOL
  20. I followed along online during the tournament and watched all 3 shows yesterday. I enjoy the show but couldn't agree more about showcasing the other anglers/catches and more about what they are doing. With all those go-pro's this should have been much easier than in the past. Too much talk for talking sake. It's pretty obvious to me they tailor the 5 hours to ensure they tell the story of the winner. You wouldn't get that in any other sport. Maybe it just needs a little more Sheli Sanders.
  21. I learned very quickly that you can only control one thing in fishing and that is what you are doing and your attitude. Focus on that and let everything else fall into place. That doesn't mean necessarily ignoring what is going on around you. If you happen to observer a fellow competitor/co-angler catching on something then just take it into consideration and logically choose if you want to go there. Doubt will always creep in when your plans don't come to fruition. This is the mental side of the sport which makes it so d**n challenging sometimes.
  22. My top 3 colors Clear water - sexy ghost minnow Stained - green gizzard or sexy shad Very stained - chartreuse black back I also mix in my yellow perch and bluegill patterns quite often. As someone else mentioned start with forage in your area. Good luck
  23. Missed it by that much.
  24. You weren't the only one. I was getting grossed out opening the thread. Lol
