  1. Besides the drop shot I used it on a Mojo Rig with some success. The Magnum worked better on the Mojo vs the regular.
  2. I use a 7' but Santa gifted me two 7'6" rods which I intend to try this year.
  3. Tried it and hated it. It is a pretty simple process actually if you have a mold and a pyrex measuring cup. Sort your plastics into like colors (Black/blue fleck for example) cut it into chunks and put into the pyrex cup. Microwave in 1 minute increments until it's the consistency of a crepe batter. Pour into the mold. Remove the plastics and toss into cold water. The smell is pretty strong and I wouldn't use your home microwave. Lastly the stuff is extremely hot so do protect your arms, hands and face just in case you splash. I guess if you end up with the same quality plastic you would technically save money over time. It doesn't come out exactly the same IMO and the hassle is not worth the $2-$5 bucks I spend on average when I need a new pack.
  4. For Pike I prefer Spinnerbaits and Lipless Cranks. Seems like the faster the better most times.
  5. Have you tried bio-silk. Not sure if it's rubber but it seems to be stronger.
  6. I use VMC Half-Moon jig heads when I can fish an exposed hook with little issues. I have also used them on a mojo rig with some success through the grass.
  7. I went to a fishing expo this past weekend. Nothing get's the blood pumping for fishing more than demo's in that portable tank at the show. Of course it is what it is and winter was still there waiting for me when i walked outside. So far I have kept busy with building jigs and reorganizing my tackle. I am SLOWLY doing that stuff in hopes that by the time I am done spring will be here.
  8. I can't wait for the Major League lesson from this show. As dominant as KVD was I wonder if they will have him talk about more than one subject. LOL.
  9. Had the same thing happen to me 3 times. I also get an URL error when trying to logout.
  10. If you plan to drop shot and fish weightless plastics like a senko then I would go with a medium with a med/fast tip. Decent balance for both applications. I'm partial to Rapsody rods but that is because they are local to me. Good luck.
  11. http://www.newenglandfishingexpo.com/ A few friends and i will be there on Saturday. This seems like a better agenda than last year. The weather looks like it's behaving too unlike last year.
  12. In the latest episode of The Bass Pros Rick Clunn gave two tips which seemed very simple yet for some reason left me a bit confused. Tip #1 - Finding fish without GPS. He refers to Seasonal Patterns and then goes on to say that he breaks up the water into 4 zones. Zone 1 the bottom of the lake all the way to zone 4 which is the top of the lake. For each connecting creek channel he does the same. Zone 4 towards the mouth of the creek and Zone 1 towards the end. Did anyone get this tip and how he applies it to Seasonal Pattern information? I have my theories but I am curious what you thought? Tip #2 - At any time of the day you can determine the depth you should focus your efforts on by dropping a lure in the water and seeing how deep it goes before it disappears. Multiply that by 3 and 4 to determine the ideal range for the bass to be in and the max depth you should focus your efforts on. He uses a white lipless crankbait and it goes down about 4 feet. Multiples by 3 (12) and by 4 (16). So the deepest he would fish that day is 15/16 feet and he would concentrate his efforts in that 12-16 foot range. This one is pretty clear in concept. Has anyone else used a "rule of thumb" like this? How helpful has it been for you?
  13. The only noise that bothers me is the chirping sound from a fishfinder is on and I am not catching anything.
  14. If it doesn't get warmer around here I might violate the rules on the bottom left. LOL
  15. This one is tough. Especially so because I don't have a boat. If I knew of a watering hole 5-6 hour away I would most likely take the trek for the chance to get a lure wet.
  16. Another vote for PowerPro. Tried others and always end up right back.
  17. Pretty intense ... pumped me up. Now I want to go throw something.
  18. Very funny ... reminded me of the Radio Shack 80's ad during the Superbowl.
  19. It's going to be very difficult for Manning and the Broncos to repeat the season they had last year. With that said it's hard to count them out in any way next season. Let's just hope Payton has enough in him to make another run. This was quite the demoralizing loss for them. Eli's face was priceless when they panned to him.
  20. No difference for me. Same I use for any bass. Technique specific ... not species specific.
  21. When you begin buying stuff and then realize that you not only have it already but have three of each of them! Guilty!!!
  22. I really didn't like what he did at the end there.
