  1. I checked out some of these on ebay. I will give them a look. What store are you using in Japan? All my JDM has been second hand so far. Yeah that's what I have heard. Big bass California guys are cosigning the reel. That's why I put it in the list.
  2. How long have you had these...assuming you have one. What is the long term durability?
  3. Trying to save some $$$$$$. Citica 200g5 on ebay is >100. Orra is 70 and the tatula is the same as shimano. Saw one for 90. Hmmm mmmm. Don't want to drop chedda on old tech. Tatula.....
  4. I am about to buy a reel for deep cranking (max ~12'). My choices are an Orra Winch, Tatula 100p and an Okuma Citrix. I ONLY own Shimano so these reels all feel like a risk to me. Tactical bassin raves about the Abu so I'm leaning. But I want to hear your experiences with these reels please.
  5. that blue is GORGEOUS!
  6. I am going to custom paint an older Reel i have. Once i paint it, the branding and logos will be gone. I am looking for something that will let me transfer graphics / logos back to the reel. I have seen some ideas but don't know where to find them. 1. I bought a rod years ago at a show. they had a foil adhesive transfer deal that allowed them to put my name on the blank in Gold metalic. I wrot my name, they rubbed it on the blank and boom. 2. I have a JDM shimano reel that had what looked like a security sticker on it. When i tried to remove it, the silver lettering transferred to the reel as the sticker peeled away. SLICK! and perfect for what i need but i don't know that the heck that is. 3. Custom vinyl lettering that is small like the word CURADO or CITICA on the new Shimano reels but writing I specify. Would also be spot on to get it in a brushed aluminum finish. ANY help would be welcome. My google searching is not very productive
  7. I fish all of these bodies of water...just not in winter. Chick lake warms quick because of the depth and black silt mud. Pickerel and ring perch are abundant and like colder water. I would try suspending jerk baits near breaks. Spinnerbait is a king on that lake. Tidal rivers are a different game. Be on the water at high tide and fish outgoing. I tournament fished all the tidal rivers fir years. Mattoponi, Pamunkey, James, App and nottoway. If the tide is not moving out or at least moving. You can put it on the trailer and go home. Tidal fish aren't as lethargic as lake fish since their environment is always moving. But the feeding mood...I'm hit or miss on that one. Crank baits fished slow and slow rolling Spinnerbait/swimbait should produce something.
  8. I didn't even know about till one day a guy walking down the road spoke to me while i was in my boat. He said "you ever fished this side?" Im sitting in my boat wondering what he was talking about. It isn't spoken about much. I wonder if it is tied in with a culvert pipe or something. When i get my side scan transducer fixed I am gonna find out.
  9. Let the yak go and slide! 550 cord will get you back up. LOL I'm willing to work with you on this endeavor! Only thing is that I have encountered...lets say a lot of "ignorance" in that county. I have been real uncomfortable with some situations with the residents. And that is so sad. You know about the private side?!
  10. Anyone live near Emporia Va.? I was wondering about a lake called Slagles Lake off of Rt617 and Rt614.
  11. Dude, those pads back there are MONEY! I got into them once and shad were in them! 5.5 on a spinnerbait! LOVE it. Have you noticed the hunt club property in the millpond? A bunch of canoes, etc in the woods. If i could find the hunt club i was considering offering them $ for yearly access. Hunt clubs are all about money to pay the paper company for land use. It could work. Went Sunday...lake is way down
  12. No one stopped! Vests kill switches and know the rules of the water! You have to lend assistance! WOW!!!!!!!!!
  13. Google maps! Look at the sat image/photo. You will be able to make out detail and taper of those points. Also look for brush lines or stump rows in the images to get more info on bottom contour. Now you have 3 maps The points with the creek channels the others spoke of are money. Assuming you have grass in this natural lake look at the island on the left of your map. One side is a steep drop and the other sides are shallow with maybe a saddle. Post spawn I would hit that hard with spinnerbait cranks and topwater.
  14. What is the difference in the Citica I series reels vs the previous models? 200iHG vs. 200HG
  15. Yes i will. I haven't taken it out yet but will share my thoughts. Just holding it, i am wondering how it is so cheap...and what i am missing at this price point. I really want to know who made it for them.
  16. Woooooo.... I have never paddled past the second bridge. Only Jon Boated that far. you are right, it is a ways. I have seen every corner of that lake except the extreme beginning of the millpond. I have even gone up the creek under I-64. I have done pretty well here and consider it my home lake ( i lived in sandston for years). The lake has DEFINITE seasonal patterns but will surprise you. I can't give up my locations but here is some info. -when you go out from the launch, that first arm or two on the side is really poor fishing, skip it. I have found this to be the case year after year for all species (crappie, bass, pickerel and bowfin). I met the wardens thier last year by chance. I told them everywhere they shock up fish and where they didn't i was spot on. Those creeks are the WORST for electrofishing survey sampling also. -The lake has a tremendous shad population, I believe Gizzard. When they are spawning in the spring, keep a topwater on. I have literally seen 3-4lb bass running the shad up on dry dirt like a saltwater blitz just past the first bridge. IT WAS ON LIKE POPCORN THAT DAY! -With the shad population the lake can fish textbook just like Kerr at times. When the wind blows hard, grab the white spinnerbait and stay in the wind if it is May or later. When it is hot, there are large populations of fish suspended in open water. I haven't tried it yet (cuz i broke my Humminbird) but it sets up for A-rig fishing perfectly. Crank baits are BEAST on that lake at the right time. but you gotta figure that out for yourself ;). If you make way past the second bridge up to the right, the character of the lake changes completely. You start seeing Cypress and the water is a lot deeper on average. By the launch there are huge expanses of water that are <3' at full pool. The millpond area also has boat docks as houses are close to the water. I have two Citation Largemouth and 1 Citation chain pick from that lake. Average spring time fish is 2.5-5lbs for me. That is a hell of an average! Some things to consider.... The lake got choked out with grass a few years back. It was growing to the surface in 17'! I stopped going in the warmer months because my son couldn't contend with that obstacle. They stocked carp HEAVY so I am not sure what the loss of habitat has done to the fish or how much habitat has been lost. Tournament fishing has gotten very heavy at that lake in the last few years also. Baits that work consistently for me: Spinnerbaits Poppers Prop Baits Plastic worms in varying sizes/ rigging methods CRANKBAIT Small swimbaits ( I am a finesse type of guy!) DM me if you guys want to or get me on IG: @aliloffkilter since you are in my neck of the woods!
  17. Here is my current fleet and second in command. Just sold an old yak...to pay the bait monkey.
  18. 8" in my yard....-1-0 degrees last night. No fishing...no exploring new locations...and gotta drive to work in the black ice tonight. ugggggggg
  19. 1. JUST TO FISH MORE. Life has really beaten me down the last two years...im gonna push back. 2. Get my social media up and running (not a plug, hope that is not a violation) 3. Run a few Kayak fishing tournaments 4. Start a small non profit for fishing/outdoors 4. Finesse less (probably gonna require rehab) 4a. big fish baits and offshore stuff...(A rig, +6" swimbaits, deep crank +10') 5. Get another Va State citation 6. 20" smallie from one of these dang rivers! 7. Finish my boat builds 8. ReBuild the rod/reel arsenal 9. push the kayak limits...swamp paddling and hope i don't get lost, chesapeake bay bridge tunnel here i come! Small list...
  20. All good ideas...some is textbook and should be solid. I will try most of these...but the plastics are a killer in my area bc of the sunfish (river bream). Freakin' piranhas! They shred any plastic i throw. A hula grub will be a Ned rig in 5 casts. I will give all of these a serious go, i know the big girls are there but not hitting on the top. I will have to figure out the senko drift
  21. Yep do this now. But no option when that bite shuts off. What do you do? Just let it tumble in the current?
  22. Here is a picture of my smallmouth river...James River in Richmond VA. I don't catch fish on plastics/bottom baits. I also don't have one over 2.25lbs. HELP!
  23. Impressive...only embarrassing to people who can't catch fish.
  24. Pt1. Bass fishermen don't buy what we need! We buy to be prepared if "this" scenario happens. 1 time in our lives we were not prepared...so we buy what we didn't have "that one time" for when it happens again. But it never happens again. Lmbo! Pt2 Bait monkey attack! Anyone know who made these for Dicks/Field&Stream?
