Hey guys, it's been a while, several months actually. I've been on the road since june with my job and I've been very busy. I havent had very much time to fish. I actually sold my bass boat back in august. Just one of those things where i needed some money and it was sitting in the yard not doing anything. I'm hoping to buy an aluminum boat this spring and get back on em. But right now it looks like I'm gonna be on the road for a while. I've been lurking a little, but really I've just been to busy during the day and too tired in the afternoon to even get on here. I've missed reading a lot yalls posts and seeing pictures of your catches. I'm hoping I have a lot more time on here. Teal

Rod for wake baits is gonna depend on the size/weight of the wake bait and the cover that you are throwing it in.

I've been in that area working for a few weeks, I'm all ears too. I'd be happy if someone can just point me in the right direction. I've been working and staying from Woodstock on up to Winchester...any public lakes or ponds would help

Dog days? What's that? Lol work is in full swing, haven't wet a hook since post spawn. Typically I'm still pitching jigs and topwaters, just on deeper docks and locating deeper or cooler spots with cover

Winston is very young, I don't expect anything different. We forget that these aare children... Not gonna change my opinion on the kid based on his actions when he was 18, and he wasn't really doing anything that most kids don't do all the time. Poor taste by the guy who let this story out

I just got the Dx703 a month a go and I love it as an all purpose plastic rod. I've tossed a few light jigs on it 1/8-1/4 and it is pretty darn good. The 704dx is my go to jig rod now.

Those two rods are not the same or even close. The Ducket rod is a heavy power rod, the 764 is really like a mh. Powells 725 is more comparable . They make a 775 which is a beast.

Whats Yalls thoughts on the call at home plate in the pirates/reds game last night? I DO NOT LIKE THIS NEW RULE. I didn't like the call either, I though the catcher gave as much of a lane as he could and still make the catch for the force out.

Got a great gift today from a very unexpected person. The young guy that I fish with... Wow. Some of you guys have followed the posts I've made about a young man from my church that I've been mentoring and fishing with. He just turned 16 and lives with his mother. He doesnt know his dad. I've gotten him some lawn jobs and a job as a life guard for the summer. Today he calls wanting to come by, I told him. Sure....and he gets out of his Tacoma with a brand new fishing rod. I hollerd "Dang, boy...you cant mess with money". He brought it tp me and I looked at it and said " you got your self a nice one, I've been eyeballing those for a while for a topwater rod". He smiled real big and said, "its yours, Happy Fathers Day". Wow!! I thought my heart stopped. I told him that he shouldn't have done that, that a hundred some odd dollars is a lot of money and that he should save his money. He smiled real big again and said that I should have spent more time with my son and my wife but I didn't, that I chose to help him, keep him on the right path, teach him about life, church, service ans fishing. He had tears in his eyes and said that up until now he only knew what tv dads were like, not real ones and that he was happy to be my friend. At this point, I'm crying.. I told him, take the rod back and he can use some of the money to take me out to dinner... He smiled one last time and said " nah, ill take the reel thats I got you that's in the truck back .., keep the rod " The little rascal had saved up and got me a rod ans a reel and a card. New to my arsenal is a Fenwick Small mouth rod, and a Daiwa Tatula reel. I'm a happy dude.

This, but to modify it a bit for safety reasons, just set it hard at a slight angle toward one of your shoulders. Wear sunglasses at all times.

Me, perspnally i would go with the 703. I typically am 1 power behind everyone else on most my casting gear. I do this for castability, control, and for counter balance the braid. Unless you plan on using it in xtreme cover 703 will be fine. I wouldn't go over 1/2...really I don't think I go much over 3/8 The DX 704 is my jig rod. Excellent rod. A lot guys use the 705, or 745. I'm fine with the 4 Power.

Powell 725. It doesn't meet your specs to the letter, but it is a beast of a rod ans can be had for 150. Love this rod for big topwaters, frogs, lunker plunkers, and jigs too. One of Powell's Strongest rods. One of my fav rods If not, go for the Dobyns Champ

C rig. My little fishing buddy has been using the 10" on a pumpkin Ed Head for ledge and channel fishing with some success. Good worms.

Good stuff heavy, Ill echo some of the others, while you may move to smallies ans trout, you aren't done with LMB. In fact, ill bet you are just beginning a love affair with double digit hunting.
