  1. Skeet reese is a dang good fisherman. Alot of these guys could still out catch most average folks even if they were using "wal mart special" im guess prpbably uses the victory reels and rods.
  2. State - NC August 2006 Roanoke Rapids Lake 15ft deep Rip rap point with steep drop Zoom Brush Hog (full size) texas rigged on a 5/0 EWG with 1oz weight bouncing lure down the point, lift and drop 8.8 lbs Largemouth It was 7:30pm, it was HOT, Dominion Power was pushing water and the current was heavy. I do not have a digital copy of the photo only hard copy that i will attempt to scan in
  3. Good job! I like the crucial / saros combo too.
  4. Im going to need Bullet21 or RedLineRobert to adopt me and my family. Yall have the coolest toys.
  5. Ive made it known im a braid/ floro guy, but i finally bought a spool of YO ZURI HYBRID, in 6lb test. Gonna try it on a spinning outfit and for leaders. Im gonna see what all the fuss is about.
  6. As light as you can get away with base on YOUR waters and your gear specs. I have 30lb braid for t rigs and platics and ill go as low as 8lb floro leader on it and up to 12 I have spinning rod for finnese worms and wacky or whatever and it has 10lb braid with a 6lb leader. Other2 spinning rods have 20 lb braid and 8lb floro leaders. 10 lb mono or floro is a good place to be. But let your gear and cover decide
  7. Hey bud, i had a slump that lasted for all of 2007!!! It gets better. 2008 and 2009 were my best two years ever... Be patient, sometimes on the water we DONT think about the stuff we read on here or sound fundamentals, we just go with the moment. If going with the moment doesnt work within the first hour, drop back and punt. Meaning; sit down, put the rod down, and answer some fundamental questions. What season is it, what are the fish normally doing, what signs am i seeing, whats the water temp, what forage have i seen or do i know whats here? Answer those questions and dont be affraid to do something that you dont like or dont completely understand. Make a point cast fewer times, but make them accurate and give the lures a soft landing. Focus on exact technique...try other presentains.. and remember to focus on where the fish are in the water colum, not where you want them to be. And if all else fails, just whip out your smart phone and make a "help me post on BR" and somone will respond. Good luck buddy... and one more thing...when it doubt, slow down
  8. I doubt you yakkers take the same amount of gear that I do... After i solve the equation of new electronics for my bass boat, im probably gonna actively start getting seat time kayaks and hope to buy one with my christmas bonus. So 2014, ill be a part time yakker! CP, im gonna make sure we can buddy up at the meet and greet, i want to see what you are made of!!! ...and if you bend one my hook points, im going to send you swimming... just kidding buddy. And you are welcome to fish with me. Nitro, it must have been a slow week if you are instigating with the yakkers, if one of those guys hits you with their over sized forearms, you wont be able to make the meet and greet.
  9. 1/4 and 1oz are my most used. Depending on the depth of the dock will dictate, but 1/4 oz will do.
  10. Was he in attendance there?
  11. Im not surprised. I broke two JM rods and an RCX rod from BPS. Will not buy another. Mine were less than a month
  12. Sammies, buzz baits, flukes, floating jerkbaits....whatever i have tired on really.
  13. On the other sode of the state from you. Glad to know there are more folks from the tar heel state.
  14. I used to be content with 8....just wait, the bait mokey is coming for you Branden.. you and I are cut from the same cloth.. im just giving you a fair warning. Lol. I look at it as money well spent!!
  15. How many do you need? Who knows. How many can i get away with? Probably 3 or 4. I i carry about 15 my boat. Do i use them all? No. Absolutely not. Depending on time of year, i limit what i carry. Durring the winter this year i went out with Six rods most of the time. But you can certainly get buy with just two or three rods. If i had to limit it to three. 7'MH f c, 7M f c, 7ML f spinning If it were 4 i would add a flipping stick, if 5 i would add a MH Crankin rod. But im fortunate enough and blessed enough that im able to have much more...so i do that, its what i like...gives me confidence.. but thats just me.
  16. Look up some Bub Tosh punching videos on youtube, he spends some time pitching his product, but he goes into good detail about what to do and why it works for him. Ish Monroe also has some videos and articles about punching and flipping. I use a straight shank with a snell knot.

    Welcome
  18. Hey, you can also search "frog rods"i on the search feature here and will see that this is a common topic, there are pages and pages of good stuff.
  19. I have zero experience with those rods listed above and we dont know your max budget. I use a Powell Enurance 725. 7'2"H But there are other rods out there that i would use too. Dobyns Champion 725 Any St. Croix Rod Castaway Skeleton 7'3 H Shimano Crucial 7'2 H Powell Max Frog rod 735 Powell 704, Powell 714, Powell 705 And probably a bunch i havent mentioned.... good lu@k
  20. This is one of my go to jigs for any application: casting, flipping, pitching, skipping under docks, ans swimming
  21. Whooo hooooo... there are two things that make me wana jump up and down, watching a young person geting Baptized and seeing a young person catching a HAWG! Good job proud papa. Good luck dealing with a swollen head for a few days.
  22. Imitating shad i would guess. Ive had more luck with natural colors that match up well with pan fish as far as swimming a jig. The cool thing is that these color combos are good crawfish imitators too. Green pumpkin with orange, pb&j, okeechobee craw..ect..dark brown with light brown and orange... all good things to swim a jig with.
  23. Good deal. Size doesnt matter too much with new techniques..its a good way to learn the technique and hook set that works for you with that technique. I looooooove swimming a jig, i call it the stealth spinner bait. What colors worked for you today and where were you fishin?
  24. I can get by with Vanish. But not my preference for a mainline. Its not horrible if you soak it down with KVD LL, but its still no where close to an untreated spool with Sniper FC. I have a spool left of vansh that im trying to use up as leader line. I will say that it is a strong line and i havent had any knot breakages.
  25. I have not fished a *** rod and i do not doubt that they are great and well built rods. But why in the world do people on this site and other forums talk about this 99.99 (entry level) rod as if it is the end all and be all to fishing rods? This to the point that people are touting this rod in the same class as rods like Dobyn Savy, Powell, and ect. ..i would need to fish one and see but i think that is non sense. *** does have another rod line that appears to be extremely nice... havent heard much talk on about them... Dude, buy the powell. If you dont like it, PM me and ill buy it from you. I dont need any more rods, but i have a feeling that i wont have to buy it from you.
