  1. I know that wasnt a review...but notice, most guys that responded have more than one Endurance...that speaks volumes. I wish i was able to afford a NRX or a Legend Extreme, but i cant, so i buy these... the best value in fishing. I really think there are comparable rods out there but they cost 75-100 bucks more.. beware tho once you buy one, you will buy more.
  2. I have 9 Powells. 8 endurance and 1 max left. And yes the endurance is worth the extra 30 bucks over the Max. Endurance 714-My jig rod (2) Endurance 723- one is a worm/fluke/senko/ soft plastic rod, i use the other for spinner or chatterbaits, swim jigs, buzz baits, hollow body swimmers,...(my most versitile rods) Endurance 804, Flippin punching, jigs and plastics Endurance 695cb Shallow cranks and lipless cranks (2)Endurance 712 spinning rods, drop shot, and other is all things light Endurance 725 - frogs and big topwaters Max 765- flipping punching Ive had a few other Max rods and have sold them to fund other reels and endurance rods. Both are great rods. The two rods that you are looking at at probably my two favorites.
  3. All this talk about pizza, the wife and i stoped at the our little pizza joint on the way to pick up our son from his grandmas place. Luckily its half way way between her place and ours. Man it was good. 13 bucks for a pizza that takes us two days to eat is awesome. The pizza was huge, deep and load with calories that we dont need. Only 8 slices, but one standard sized plate can barely hold one slice.
  4. Weightless t rig, 3/0 worm hook. Skip lure under dock, wait, feel the strike, set hook, reel in hawg, rinse and repeat.
  5. Why not a Lews TP... that would be my choice... i want a 7:1 reel that is light enough to throw the hollow body frogs, soft plastic topwaters, and light topwater baits. Just because the reel is light enough to handle light lures doesnt mean it can handle big fish, or alot of slop. The BB1 wouldnt be a bad idea,...but TP is my pick You can always upgrade the drag on the TP iif that is a sticking point.
  6. Move on. Dont waste time if they done bite the first couple casts. Ive learned the hard way, those fish will gt in your head and in your pride. You will waste more time and lures just to catch nothing. The first deep break is normally a winner for me. My mental state on the water is more important than my pride... move on, and catch a fish that will bite. You can try and may even catch one, but ive gotten to the point where ill cast twice to them and move.
  7. Its simpler for me to just buy them painted.. it stings the wallet a little more but its one less hassle.
  8. Been there and done that... like Slone said, it may be smoking a little but its fine. And when i did add a bit more than you did and mine is fine.
  9. 4 of my favorites! If you add PB&J then you got me pegged.
  10. Hard to find real pizza down here, but theres a little hole in the wall about 45 mins from me that is run by Sicilians (hope i spelled that right) they make a deep dish pizza in a brick oven that is to die for! Sauce is kinda sweet, the bend of cheeses are awesome (put on sparingly, the way i like) freshly cooked Italian sausage that is cut and ground up in small thin chunks. Pepperoni, mushrooms, black olvies. Im hungry now
  11. Good stuff Fly, what colors did you order?
  12. Where is Endless, i havent seen him post in a while.
  13. IIt works out well. This way if any of the Kayak guys wants to take take some time on a larger boat then they can.
  14. Whitwolf, lives in the Hickory area.
  15. Vote for the 7'1" MH I use a 7'1 Powell 714 Heavy and it does well. As for casting footballs and casting jigs a long ways it does good there also. But normally, im not trying to BOMB it for distance.. ill know what the bottom contour looks like and cast about 20 - 30 yards. And that is plenty far enough. Durring the spring and summer, ill use alot of flipping jigs and do mostly medium range pitches and skipping with it... I can skip and roll cast with a longer rod like a 7'4 but its alot easier with a shorter rod. Either way, you have to find what you can live with..and what works best for what you do. Other than my deep cranking rods, my jig rod is the only rod that I label as "for this technique only" i do that because i feel that my selected rod is PERFECT for that application. All my other rods, ill use them for a few different type of lures each. My advice is whatever rod you get, try it out with other techniques when you first get it and see what it excels at for you. But it should make a darn good jig rod. I say this because i got the Powell 723 for a jig rod and decided it wasnt as good for MY jig fishing as it was for spinners, chatters, hollow swimbaits, and t rigs... i eventualy bought the 714 and found that it was exactly what i was looking for.
  16. D&M Custom baits 5in Flappin Craw on a 1/2 jig. Rage Tail Craw or Lobster on a punch rig, or on a big jig... Rage craws/lobsters are good on anything.
  17. Wow. Thats 66-83 yards. Make a video of the cast and pacing it off. Post it on here. Id really like to see that.
  18. I agree. In fact, the Villian was made to match perfectly with the Revo MGX. And it doesnt get much lighter than that.
  19. 30 yards is good distance... but there are other variables in play that can aid in increasing casting distance. Lure weight, line size, type of line, rod length, rod action, and casters technique and of course the reel itself. Ive paced off 43 yards plus or minus with my deep crankin rod using a 3/4 oz crank bait dummy. Like brain said, im using decent equipment and do not see the 50 yard bombs some folks chat about. Other than deep cranking or A rigs or somung like that, i really dont need the 40 yards.. id venture to say, most of what i do is inside of 20..
  20. Theres a video on you tube of David Fritts chucking a crankbait over 60the yard with a BB1
  21. Abu rods have a good following here locally too. Hahaha i had to take a jab at ya on the bar money...lol in all seriousness, you have certainly earned the right to drown a few on the weekennds..we thank u for your service... Sorry for the short hijack
  22. Of course YOU would! Sounds like an another opportunity to burn your bar hopping money on a rod..
