Just received another 1 in the mail today and will be ordering another tournament pro this week.

Palomar for everything and it's only failed a few times and that was my own fault for not retying.

Matt Cashion is by far the best person I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I really wanted to try a Cashion rod but all the off the shelf models have the Fuji acs reel seat and I hate it. I called and spoke with him about it. He built me a rod using the reel seat I wanted without any extra charge. $180 to my door Seriously one of the nicest people I've spoken to.

I use both but I think I rely more on the brakes. My thumb is always there but i dont have to feather it much. I got my 1st baitcaster only 9 months ago so I'm still new but picked up on it quickly. On my lews tp I only have 1 cent. brake set and no mag brakes on. Throws a 1/2oz jig perfectly.

If it works for you then be happy with your purchase. People use to catch fish with a cane pole. I used to have 1 casting setup and fished every lure I own on it and it worked just fine. Now I use a Kistler Micro Mag crankbait rod. It's a 7' med mod/fast action. Currently on special for $99 on their website.

Just wondering if anyone uses them on here. I only have two spinning setups but they are on cheap rods since it was before I started getting more serious about my equipment. Yes I understand they are only $40 some dollars so they aren't that high quality either but gotta be better then the Berkley rods they are on now. Probably going to pick up a 6'6 M and a 7' M

Yes very true. I tend to fish a little on the fast side so the slower is better for me. I also look at ipt instead of the ratio itself since it can vary from company to company. I don't even own a 7:1:1 reel because I feel like the lure would be out of the water more then in with how I fish.

Seems a little odd since most prefer a slower reel to keep the bait in the water longer.

What he said ^^^ I have 8 myself 6 casting and 2 spinning. If I take my boat out alone then 7 are on board. With a buddy I take 4-5 so he has some room fit his stuff but if I'm fishing the bank then I have 2. Obviously it's nice to not have to change lures all the time by owning multiple rods but in reality we don't NEED them all.

Exactly! If I'm paying up to $200 for a rod then I'm not going to chance it plus it's a nice way to showcase them all.

I hang mine on the wall using Berkley rod racks you can get at Walmart for around $10.

If you get another 7' MH you can use it as a strictly plastics rod and use your other 7"MH as you have been for jigs,spinnerbaits,ect Looking at my rods hanging on my wall I have the following tied on. Kvd 2.5,lipless crank,T-rig senko,spinnerbait,jig,weighted wacky

You can pick up a kistler micro mag fiberglass crankbait right now for $100 on special. It's normally like $180. I have one but I've only used it a few times but I like it so far. I landed plenty of pickerel one day on a kvd 2.5 and it was great. 7' mh moderate

You won't be upset by your choice and if you are I'll buy it from you as long as it's a LH model. I have all Lews reels except for my BPS PQ that I'm trying to sell and replace with another Lews. I have a tournament pro,BB1Z,2 regular tournament models, and one tournament mg which was my only Lews option at the time for a low ratio LH model or it'd be a BB1. I had a regular speed spool also but sold it to a friend since he liked it so much. The Tp is the best value for your money at $160 shipped

Typically you buy the rod to meet the application it's being used for. With that being said it's only your 3rd setup so you might be looking for something more all around. You already have a 7' Mh rod but 2 won't hurt. You can throw about anything on something like that. I have 3 in that size range currently. Jig,spinnerbait,chatterbait,t-rig worm,ect all work fine

My friend has a smoke and I used it all the time before I got my own stuff. It's a awesome reel but I can't give you any comparison to the mgx. The smoke got a great review from tackle tour and some of the pro fish them as well if that maters to you. Yeah there are some decent spots to fish. Most are typically over fished or you can't use a boat and the place is pretty large to walk it all.

I've never built a rod but I did have an Mhx blank built for me and it's a great rod to fish with. The blanks have gotten great reviews online.

I have a quick question for you builders. I have a split grip rod with Eva foam grips. I don't like how fat it feels. Is there a way to remove material by hand that won't ruin the foam? I was thinking either a file or some finer sandpaper.
