Looking for 8 oz. Sinkers...................
Google the Kittery Trading Post in Kittery Maine. The last time I was in there they had a pretty good selection of salt water stuff. And they ship most every thing.

Took my 89 tournament tx out the first time and it died!

Tipping a Fishing Guide
Yes it is customary. A good guide does a lot more for you than a good waitress or waiter over a longer period of time. I tip according to the job they do. Even if we catch few fish if the guide puts forth the effort and is pleasant to be with he earns a 10 to 20% from me.

Battery Charging Question
I haven't had that problem. I would search for the chargers manufacture on the net and call their tech reps.

Geez I hate spinning tackle
Baitcasting is my preferred tackle but there are situations where spinning gear provides the best presentation. My newest spinning reel is over 10 years old and I have no problems with them at all. I have had my knuckles rapped a few times but you learn to get them out of the way. My take on problems with spinning gear are line twist and what ever you call that phenom when a bunch of line jumps off the reel. I can't recall the last time I had a line twist problem. Be sure to put the line on without twist, don't crank against a slipping drag, make sure baits run true. Put a swivel in the set up for baits that twist and for those little loops that sooner or later result in a bunch of line flying off the spool always close the bail with your hand not the crank. To keep from cranking against the drag I just set it tight and back reel. Since closing the bail by turning the crank is a long time bad habit I just need to concentrate. I am very careful making sure soft plastics don't spin an d on inline spinners I put a good quality swivel in the system.

flourocarbon line
I have not used fluoro on my spinning outfits but love it on baitcasters. I don't understand why FC would twist more than other lines on spinning gear. Would someone let me know since I plan to put it on a spinning rig soon.

Gammy EWG hooks: Hookup problems
I seldom use any hook other than Gammy ewg on soft plastics and haven't had any problems. The lakes I fish are pretty much weed free so I only tuck the barb under the skin if I find that rare tree in the water.

Buying 1st Boat, Need Some Advice On Motor HP
Javelin has it right. Go for the rated HP or you won't be happy with it in the long run.

Depth Finder Interference
I run Eagles on the bow and console with no trouble both get power from the cranking battery. This is from what I've heard not my experience since I've never my sounders set up off the TM batteries. Running sounders off the TM batteries can cause interference.

Rod!

Using Fish Finders?
I refuse to call mine a fish finder. It is a depth finder that allows me to seek out structure and cover that provides areas that attract bait and fish. Now, tell us about your river, depth, flow rate anything else to give us a clue as to the water you are fishing.
-
what line do you prefer
So much depends on where and how. The lakes I usually fish are gin clear. So I use fluorocarbon for most applications. Mono for surface, spinner baits and shallow cranks. Braid for the main line on C-Rigs and either a mono or floro leader.

Anyone still using their older equipment?
I have several bait casters that are over 50 sitting on a shelf in well deserved retirement. I don't have a spinning reel that I use that is less than 25 and except for 2 bait casters that are probably 3 to 5 years old all the rest are at least 10 and several in the 25 year age bracket. They all work just fine.

BC Line On Spool Not Even?
I have had this happen several times using my Berkley spooning station. When I take the rig fishing the line evens out. Blows my mind as to why and how.

Anything I've overlooked?
Try your tow vehicule;s jack to see if it works. My current van's jack works; the previous vehicule's did not. I trailered almost 2000 miles each way from NH to the MN/ONT border country several time and into eastern ONT over 700 miles many more and the biggest problem was me. I cut a corner or two too short. I did have the nut come off the ball stud on the way to MN/ONT one time but the pull load on the ball shank held the ball on the hitch until I got there and I had no damage. Now I check the ball nut often. I do check the bearings for heat every time I get out of the van.

Wow Bill Dance has been a fisherman a LOONG time
I've been fishing longer than Bill but the only money is outflow from my pocket to the Bait Monkey. But I don't regret a penny of it.

Lower unit weep hole.
Keep us posted. This one had my head addled!

Lower unit weep hole.
Maybe the light went on in my brain. If the hole you are talking about is good sized and threaded that is an oil fill hole that vents the lower unit when filling and should have a gasketed special threaded plug like the lower drain/fill bolt. If that screw is missing you need a new one and you need to drain and refill your lower unit.

Lower unit weep hole.
I understand auto water pump weep holes. They tell you when the pump seal has begun to leak and your WP bearing is soon to fail. I have had lots of outboards and never heard of a lower unit weep hole. I'd suggest you contact Bombardier in Waukegon, Il. They bought out Outboard Marine some time ago. Johnson may have a website and Evenrude and Johson for years were identical engines except for the decorations.

Spinning or Baitcasting for Senko
I prefer baitcasters over spinning. I cast Senkos and their knockoffs down to 3" with little trouble. The 4" and 5" cast like rockets on a baitcaster. I'd say it depends on which system you use most confidently.

Lower unit weep hole.
Excuse my ignorance but I'm trying to figure out what a "lower unit weep hole" is.
-
lightest lure on a baitcaster
I cast 1/8 jigs with a small grub pretty easily on a BPS Prolite finesse comboand 10# flourocarbon but any thing less than that is tough and I think counter productive. In my oiniion the rod is every bit or more important than the reel.

Depth finder spliced into Trolling motor power
And that gives you another battery to charge. My boat has everything but the TM's running off the cranking battery and it works just fine.

Stupid Newb Question about setting drag
Remember that line friction through guides on a flexed rod adds considerably to the pounds needed to pull line off the reel.
