When will a lady angler haver her own fishing show?
There was a gal with a Canadian show a few years ago. She had plenty of talent and it was one of the better shows. I can't remember her name but it was on a Canadian station that we got when we lived close to the border. I remember a show she did from a lodge on Lady Evelyn lake that was special.

24V trolling Motor question
Running the TM and big motor off the same batteries is going to make starting the big motor suspect towards the end off the day.

drop shot fishing in the northeast
I have cast the rig into shallow water and walked it down in to deep water with good results all of the way down.

hp-speed
Time in transit on a 150 acre lake won't be much different regardless of the difference between a 175 and a 200.

College student alternative spring break fishing trip--your help needed!
Look at Lake Point Resort in Eufaula, AL. Good largemouth, spots, hybrids and crappie. The weather would be colder than FL but it is closer and should feel real warm coompared to northern WI.

Which do you think a bass prefers?
I think they go for which ever is available!

My boat shakes at low speeds prop maybe?
If your prop is badly damaged and therefore out of balance it could be shaking and worse it could be beating up your lower unit bearings.

fish handling gloves that wont hurt there slimy skin?
This past spring I worked with a group of volunteers to remove fins from several thousand fingerling landlocked salmon. If I remember correctly NH Fish and Game gave us soft cotton gloves that we got soaking wet then snipped the fin and released the fingerling into a trough leading back into a F & G tank.

New to me 97 Astro does this speed sound right?
I have an 89 Astro 18FDX with a 150 Merc and might get 55mph on the gps. With no tackle and a short fuel load, one person I got 63mph - radar gun - when the boat was new. I don't recall the rpm's. I hope you have as much good luck with yours as I have with mine. It has just been a super boat and still is picture pretty.

Are Length/Slot Limits Still Revelant?
On the Ontario side of the MN/ONT border the small mouth size restriction is nothing more than 13.4 inches. The last time I was up there if you needed an eater for dinner it was tough to catch one small enough.

problems with trolling motor
I don't have first hand experience with this but I'd pull the prop and check for weed and/or fishing line. If you chew up the prop shaft seal the motor will fail yeal fast.

Would This Be a Rude Thing To Do?
You are being allowed to fish private waters. You should ask the owner first or you might lose your privilege.

Kentucky lake ?s
I have a friend with a cottage on Barkley who fishes there for a week or two in mid to late November and catches numbers of crappie. We bird hunted in southern Il for years and had more too hot years than cold ones. Southern Il is closer to Memphis than it is to Chicago.

gas motor sizing
If it is just a wake limit (not a hp limit) I would opt for the maximum hp motor allowed for your boat for the following reasons; 1. If you go to bigger waters you will be able to handle longer trips across the water and 2. If you decide to sell the boat it will be much easier with the boats max motor. Boats and motors last a long time if well maintained and by going with the larger motor you will be pretty well set as circumstances change.

Easier up North?
I have fished for bass in FL, AL, GA, TN, KY, IN, IL, OH, NH, MI, WI, MN and ONT. The fishing is good every day but the catching ranges from terrible to supurb depending on the time of the year and the game plan I put together. Realistic expectations must vary with the particular piece of water, time of year and weather conditions. A lake I fish reguarly in New Hampshire I think 50 fish a day is not special in mid May but 5 is a great day in late July and August.

noise on D/Finder screen from TM
Thie ia a what I have heard reply not one of personal experience. I have heard that if you run the TM and sounder off the same battery you can get noise on the sounder. Sounds like you don't run both off the same battery. I have run the puck off the TM with out a problem. I'd check with with MK.

late eightie's merc xr-2 150? Good motor?
While I second fishfordollars very good advise I have a 1989 150 on my boat and it is a jewel. Now that I say that it has been very well cared for. Serviced by myself every year and professionally every two years. If by injection you mean the oil injection system mine has never been a problem.

Replacing Compartment Springs
I have an older Astro that is an identical boat to the ProCraft. The springs are extension springs. You might be able to find a hardware store that carries an assortment. If you can find springs with nearly the same diameter and wire size they should work. My springs still function but I would like to go with gas springs but I am a bit concerned about the strength of the tab on the boat you would need to fasten the gas springs to.

Starving Fish
Big heads small bodies is a sign of too many fish for the forage. Friends who have owned privcate ponds and lakes have DNR based goals in number of pounds of fish to harvest per year. I bet your local DNR can give you some guidance.

Deep Hooked Bass Must Read
1. I always debarb the hook and have for 30+ years. 2. On Crigs I use circle hooks. Also debarbed. 3. When I deep hook a fish if necessary I go in through the gills. See In-Fisherman. 4. Several years ago I bought a gadget called a "Debarbit" which cut off the barb inside the fish and the magnets on the gadget brought out the hook pieces. 5. Since I began to use 2 and 3 I have never needed to use the "Debarbit". I have not kept enough data to be sure that I don't lose more fish with a debarbed hook but I don't lose many and my gut feel is that debarbing has little effect if any.

What causes plastics to break down?
I worked in the polymer industry for nearly 40 years and some thing had to contaminate the baits or get in the bag. While it could be excessive heat it sounds more like a liquid or gas that is not compatible with the plastic got at them somewhere along the line.
