I'm gonna be buyin a few of the poppers they look sweet

I had mine on a 6'6 ml st croix triumph for about 2 years and it worked great for fishing small plastics and small topwater poppers. cant necessarily recommend a rod in that price range but if you're willing to spend a few more bucks i'd check out the triumph. its a solid rod for the money

i've got the 30 size and its nowhere near too big. especially if you use braid you'll be able to fit a ton of line on there and it holds up really well for smallmouth fishing (shaky heads, drop shots, light jig and grubs). if you're gonna be fishing in tight areas like under bridges and stuff like that I would definitely go with a shorter rod, but if you aren't, I would honestly go with something longer just for the added sensitivity and casting distance

18+ in smallmouth is worth a picture. bass that are over 4 lbs are usually big for me in northern wi. just gotta find the right lakes

For fall I usually go with a smaller swim jig or an 1/8th oz hair jig. just try to move them both slow and wait for the bite. Use light line!!

I'd go with anything that you normally finesse fish with. 90% of the time im throwing a shaky head, dropshot, or tube for smallmouth, other 10% is spinnerbaits, cranks, and jigs

*** is great. 7'1 med heavy is a great all around rod

what kinda line you got on your reel? I can fish weightless wacky rigged senkos on a medium casting rod, but I usually fish them on a spinning rod because I can bomb them a mile and a half

st croix triumph, its about 20 dollars over your price range tho

gonna be up in rhinelander/lake tomahawk later this month and over columbus day weekend, anybody have any tips for fall fishin up north?

1/4 - 3/8, try to find something in natural colors, not a lot of people make green pumpkin or watermelon colored spinnerbaits, but the few that do are pretty nice

swing jigs or spinnerbaits, both of them work all year long

i gotta say i bought a pflueger president a year ago and its been great for dropshotting and shaky heads. haven't oiled the thing up at all and its still as smooth as the day i got it.

yeah thats what I've been thinking. could buy a decent rod for $100. guess some people have more money than others and they can choose how to spend it.. I'll stick to my $5 strike kings and rapalas

Yeah I guess that makes sense, what if that expensive paint chips off? I can tell you that fishin around rocks for smallies with 10 dollar spro jerkbaits takes it off. Maybe the more expensive baits have better paints and better finishes

I was looking at another topic on this forum a while ago and I saw some guys talking about $100 dollar swimbaits that they use. I guess my question is, are you willing to spend 30 dollars+ on a lure that you could lose in 10 seconds? Thought this would be a cool topic haha

which river were you on? that bridge looks like the one right by where I stay. think its on river road or something like that lol. if thats what you're catching down there I'm gonna fish down there more often haha

I've got the 7'1 med heavy *** with a tournament mg, great spinner bait/swim jig combo

they're good if you clean them right, but if you don't, it's gonna suck because you're gonna constantly be picking out bones. just make sure you get the Y bones out, there are a ton of videos online that show you how to do it correctly. they taste really good in beer batter

if I were you i'd try braid, but make sure you buy some fluoro or fluoro leaders to make a 3 ft leader with. 8 or 10 lb braid should be perfect for what you want to be using. i've been using the sunline sx1 braid in 10 lb on my medium light setup and it's worked perfectly

i got an mg for the same price as the regular speed spool. its smooth, haven't oiled it all summer and its the same as it was coming out of the box. it handles braid really well too

These are what I always use. work good for crappie and bluegill
