Walking Worm-Revolutionary or Mediocre
These aren't new, been around for several years. They haven't been banned from any tounaments (no need to ;D). P.S. I have some Helicopter lures and Flying Lures in the garage that well meaning family members gave me for my birthday a few years ago if anyone is interested!!

Reel Mechanic or other reel junkies
That's typical round reel construction. The Calcutta 250 has the same 2+1 bearing arrangement. The new Calcutta 200b has 3+1. The Daiwa TD Luna has a 5+1 arrangement, same as the Quantum USA 600 had. So, it's not really a big advancement as far as round reels go in the last 15 years. As far as that goes, the new, OhMigod, I gotta have one $350 Core only has 4+1 bearings.

Shimano rebates yet???
Guys, if you're expecting a rebate pay attention to all your mail including junk mail. Most rebates are processd by contracted companies who specialize in mailing out rebates. I got one for a printer that was like a post card and looked like a piece of junk mail. It was on the way to the trash when I took a closer look. Just a heads up.

Registration Req'd?
It varies from state to state. In Texas, that Jon Boat has to be titled and registered. The trolling motor doesn't.

G loomis mossy back rods?
Mossy back and IMX are not available in the same series. Mossyback is only available in the "Bass Jig and Worm" series and your choices are GLX or Mossyback. IMX is available in the "Classic Bass" series but Mossyback is not.

Its Now my 2nd year of baitcasting
Simplified explanation. The cast control knob (on the handle side) applies constant pressure to the spool. The centrifugal brakes apply pressure to the spool at speed; the faster the spool is spinning, the more pressure is applied. There is no pressure at rest. Magnetic brakes apply braking constantly regardless of speed, except for Daiwa Magforce V which is proportional.

Its Now my 2nd year of baitcasting
I have and use both types. Here is what works for me after a number of years of experience. On magnetic brakes, I set it in the middle, on centrifugal with 6 pins, three on. I have some reels with 4 pins, I have all 4 on (I am thinking about trying 2 on and 2 off this year). Then I adjust the cast control so that when I am holding the rod out straight and release the reel spool, the bait falls slowly to the ground and the spool will make 1 or 2 revolutions after the bait hits the ground. I adjust the cast control whenever I change baits if the new bait is different type or weight. I know many people adjust the brakes all the time to get maximum distance, but this works for me.

Sudden-expertism
O.K. here goes. I have been a registered member of this site for two years and yet I have only made 78 (this makes 79) posts, but I have read a lot of the posts and discussions. Unlike some members, I just don't see the need to make a post on every discussion just to run the numbers up. Am an expert? I don't consider myself expert even though I have been fishing including bass fishing for longer than a good number of the members of this site have been alive: right at 60 years. My grandfather started me at age 7 with a knuckle buster bait cast on an old steel rod and I am still learning new techniques, e.g. drop shot and shakey head. I only post when I think I have something useful to add. I don't post just because I don't agree with someone (unless I truly feel or know for a fact that the post is false). I have arrived at some conclusions about the "expertism" demonstrated here. A lot of credence is given to advice, opinion, etc, based upon the number of posts a given member has made. I have read enough posts to conclude that there some members with high numbers that I just plain ignore but a newer member may accept because of the number of posts. Members with a low number of posts seem to get "called out" for their opinions much more often than those with higher numbers of posts. Just because some one has a high number of posts does not make them an expert. There is one poster on here that six months ago didn't know a rod from a reel. Since then he has averaged about 8 or 9 posts a day and now weighs in with advice on everthing. Opinions are like noses, everyody has one and they're all different. That's what 95% of what you get on any web forum; opinions.

Need Help with buying Baitcasters
I have two of the Midas reels. I have no complaints about them, the dual braking system is great for casting a variety of lure weights BUT I got the on sale for $99. At the regular price of $150, I would choose a Daiwa 153HSTA. I have the previous model and from what I have been told by some knowledgeable people, the new one is really worth the bucks.

Question for Mo. anglers
I move to Texas from Mo. in '91. Lived there 50 years before I moved. Truman was one hot lake then. I haven't seen any thing about Truman for several years. Is it dead or what? I remember talking to Denny Brauer and Chet Douthit at Bucksaw point about the fishing there. I sed to fish it a lot and am just curious since I will probably be going up that way this spring or summer and was thinking about doing a little fishing while there.

Poll question for right or left hand fishing
For baitcasting, I cast right handed and reel left because like most people I have observed, I palm the reel. If I reeled left handed, I would have to cast, switch to my left hand, then switch back to my right to palm. For spinning on the other hand, I cast right and reel left because the rod is held the same way for casting and reeling.

brand boycott
I have to agree with Dodgeguy on Red Cast. IMO, people buy Red Lightning which is totally different from Red Cast and don't like it.

Fishing/boat shows - a thing of the past?
I went to the DFW tackle show last weekend. What I like about this one is the possibility of finding some real bargains: I scored a new in the box green Curado 100b for $109. There were several small (wht I like to call "semi-custom" rodmakers with some good deals, a couple of dealers had the 2007 Falcon Caras for $80 and for the Shimano posse, one dealer had Cores for $259!!! I am serious as a judge on that one.
