  1. Outstanding thread! Probably my favorite on this site.
  2. Appreciate it fellas.
  3. Do these techniques do the same thing, or is there a difference? Appreciate your thoughts.
  4. I like a dark colored plastic worm, t-rigged. Maybe go a little larger than the standard 7.5in worm if the water is really muddy.
  5. Man I don't know where the heck I got that...glad I asked. You guys know more about the tiny narrow subject of "snap swivels" than I know about fishing! Guess I will continue to tie everything directly to the main line until I find a reason (other than laziness/convenience) to incorporate additional tackle. Thanks for all the insights.
  6. Forgive me if this has been asnwered already. I understand that most recommend swivels for crankbaits. Are there other lures that work well with swivels? I tie pretty much everything directly to my main line (usually 20-30lb braid) but am curious about possibly incorporating swivels. Appreciate your tboughts.
  7. Awesome! Congrats young man!
  8. Looks like a pretty little spot.
  9. In case you don't hit the wal mart fishing isle 3-4 times a week like me, heads up about a great deal on some decent lures. During their big bait bonanza, you can get all sorts of hula poppers, zara puppies, rebel crank baits, c. Cotton lipless cranks, etc for $1.50. Most of these lures are $5-7 regular price. Thought I'd mention it on the forum.
  10. I will be walking all over Clarks Hill twitching a t-rig up the bank and working some spinner/crank baits. Might even break out the zara spook.
  11. Kinda seems like the bucket thread...unprovoked, inaccurate, over-generalization. I fish like that sometimes and I assure you I'm not lazy or pathetic. Also spend a lot of valuable time bobber fishing with my boy. Why the negativity over simply different preferences? Now, if they're illegal, unethical, bad sportsmen, etc., that's a different story.
  12. Where I'm from (south Georgia) "bucket fishing" is kinda part of the culture for a lot of folks. I've got a ton of great memories bucket fishing. I've never looked down on that style of fishing or those who do it. Of course I do look down on law-breakers though.
  13. Blue: thank-you for the info. Do you know if the carp deliberately destroy the beds, or if they simply damage the beds while they're feeding on the vegetation? Just curious. These were some big buggahs...like around 15+ pounds. I hadn't seen them in the lake before so my heart was racing until I got a better look. Thanks again.
  14. Anyone know if carp and/or gar prey on bass beds? Walked up to my little spot on Clarks Hill and saw several large fish hanging in the corner to my left. Of course I started hyperventilating and fumbling to get my t-rig in the water as quickly as possible. After about 10 minutes I realized I had spotted several humongolous carp and a couple good sized gars. I've caught fish there before but didn't catch anything that afternoon. Not sure if the carp/gar had anything to do with it. The rude/inconsiderate dudes who brought their boat inside the very small cove may have had something to do with it also. Or, just plain old bad luck. In any case, if you have any thoughts on the carp/gar question I'd appreciate it.
  15. My head - I posted a pic on another thread a few weeks ago. That incident involved 1) my brother/son laughing their a$$es off for an entire weekend, 2) a stealth trip to the ER (couldn't let the wife find out), and 3) a couple staples in my head. Of course everyone in the ER thought it was pretty funny too, especially when they found out that I did it. It was on my second cast at 5 o'clock that morning...about 3 hours of sleep after my bro and I sat around the fire all night drinking beer and catching up on old times...I hadn't seen him in a couple years. It was funny, but could have been worse and was a good lesson learned about form/concentration. Besides that, sea turtles, stingrays, old ropes/nets, rocks/coral, a sock, a huge mantis shrimp (~10 inches), seagull (grabbed my lure), a few docks, and some nasty moray eels. Oh, and I did catch a seahorse one time, but it was in a trap, not a rod/reel.
  16. Hello…I’ve been on the forum for a couple weeks but just now posting an intro. So far, I’ve had a great time and learned a lot browsing the forums, watching the videos, and reading the articles. I’m in the Army and recently moved from Hawaii to Evans, GA (near Augusta). In Hawaii, I lived on a beautiful bay with some great flats right in my back yard with plenty of bonefish (oio), barracuda (kaku), and jack (papio or ulua). Leaving that was hard, but I’m from Savannah so it’s nice to be back in the South and close to home. Anyway, I’m kinda a beginner in terms of bass fishing. I’ve been spending a LOT of time walking the banks of Clarks Hill Lake, the Savannah River, and several small ponds/lakes in the area trying to pay my dues and learn as much as I can about bass fishing. If you’ve got tips for a beginner fishing strictly from the bank, or good spots in the Augusta area, please let me know. Thanks!
  17. That was awesome! Thanks.
  18. Appreciate all the advice fellas...might take me a walk tomorrow and see if I can spot any schools.
  19. New to the forum, fairly new to bass fishing...looking forward to learning a lot (and helping others when I can). You're standing on the bank of a large lake (Clarks Hill, SC), and a school of something (assume LMB or possibly striped bass?) begins to feed at the surface about 50 yards out. You've got a selection of spinner baits, jigs, plugs, poppers, etc. How do you proceed? Appreciate the advice.
