Gloomis NRX rods
NRX 893C is definitely the most versatile. I owned 4 of them, they handled a variety of baits. I sold all of my NRX's and got all Conquests. I currently have 4 of the 903C Conquests. As mentioned above the MBR action of the Conquests are even more versatile than the NRX's.

Your Favorite Rod and Reel Brands
I'm strictly Shimano/G.Loomis for rods & reels. I cleaned and repaired reels for almost 10 years. Shimano is #1 in my opinion for quality, etc. Daiwa is a close 2nd, then Abu Garcia. My current arsenal: (14) Shimano/G.Loomis Conquests (4) G. Loomis IMX Pro's (3 swimbait/1 crankbait) (10) Shimano Metanium MGL HG's (4) Shimano Stella FJ 3000's (4) Shimano Calcutta 400D's

Swimbait reel ?
I have (4) Calcutta 400D's for my big bait applications. They're built like tanks and hold plenty of 25lb.

All Shimano/G.Loomis here and have been brand loyal for almost 20 years now.... I used to clean and repair reels for almost 10 years when I was younger. My thoughts exactly and I've said that on all the forums I'm a member of until I'm blue in the face. I've got almost $200k in my truck, boat and gear so why on earth would I want to cut corners and only spend $500 on a mount for a fish that I purchased $200k worth of equipment to pursue and catch?!?!? Those PB fish and PB memories are why we all put in 40hr+ work weeks and obsess over these green and brown fish. I want to capture that PB fish and the memory in my mount! Dave's pricing used to be on his website, I guess he took it off. A simple email or text to him and he will give you the info, he's personable and easy to talk to. He kept me updated throughout the 12-14 month wait time and texted me pics at different stages of the build/paint process. He actually modified both my smallmouth and largemouth to match my actual fish better. He swapped out several fins, modified the mold and even used a seperate set of "flow through gills" to match my actual fish pictures better. You won't get that from a $500 mount...- Ranger Boat's Icon
Duh, I know that you only add the difference... Give me some credit here...... So that $16k difference is more like a $12-$13k difference, which roughly puts the top of the line Icon Ranger roughly 13% higher price than the Bass Cat. A 13% price difference is a FAR cry from being given the term "over priced", and everyone is freaking out about the price tag of the Icon Ranger when all the other boat brands aren't too far behind. Bass Cat was founded in 1971, so their 50th anniversary is coming up in 2021.... Let's see if they do something similar to Ranger and have a 50th year "mack daddy" Bass Cat model come out. I'd be willing to bet it will be at or above the $100k mark if they are already at $84k in 2018. And yes it's 2.5 years from now and new electronics, etc will be out and cost more than the current models, but it's close enough in age that it can be fairly compared to the cost of the 50th Anniversary Icon from Ranger. Someone will have to resurrect this thread 2.5 years from now and see if my prediction comes true........ Now I'm done with this thread.....- What’s your favorite rod and spinning reel?
I have four Stella 3000 FJ's paired up on Conquest 842S's with 8lb Tatsu on all of them. Love that set up....!- Best replica taxidermist?
Give Dave a text/email. He's at the top of the price spectrum, well over $25/inch for his "master grade", but if you look at the scale detail and overall detail of the pics I've posted and compare them to the companies like Lake Fork Taxidermy and others who are in that $500 - $700 range you'll see that they don't come close to Dave's work. On Dave's "master grade" mounts (both of mine are) he paints each individual scale, unlike other companies who do a generic overall air brush type paint job. www.davecampbellfish.com Good luck.- Ranger Boat's Icon
And still no response to the 3rd time I've mentioned the beyond absurd, over priced $84k Bass Cat?!?! ? At least Ranger "earned the right" to charge what they do. Look's like Bass Cats are right up there in price with the Ranger's judging by that $84k one I posted earlier with 9" graphs... ? You'll probably say that $84k Bass Cat is a "good buy" / worth the $84k....??? I'm done with this thread... Ranger is #1.... ?- Ranger Boat's Icon
Nor is it in the equation for me... I went in depth about the speed aspect of bass boats addressing DINK WHISPERER's video post, not your post. And if Ranger's are so "over priced", what are your thoughts about this almost $84k Bass Cat I posted earlier? So this $83,996 Bass Cat is reasonably priced.......?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? https://www.boattrader.com/listing/2018-bass-cat-boats-jaguar-103121089/ And it just has 9" graphs!!! LOL You add two Lowrance 16's or two Humminbird Solix 15's and you're getting close to the Icon price..... (The Icon comes STANDARD with a 16"/15" graph at the console and a 12" graph at the bow btw).- Ranger Boat's Icon
LOL, nope it doesn't settle anything because the sport isn't boat racing... Yeah, ok the Bass Cat is 2.4 mph or whatever faster.... big whoop, so I get to the same spot 30 seconds to 1 minute later. Every fiberglass bass boat between 20' - 21' with a 250 on it will do 65-80 mph. It's not like a Bass Cat does 150 mph and a Ranger only does 30 mph?!?! I don't understand the guys that constantly swap out props, etc just to gain one to three mph?!?!? Call me old at the age of 36, but I could care less about going over 70 mph on the water even though my boat will do it. I have 35 hours on my G2 now and I haven't even had it over 35 mph yet... Occasionally I run my boats WOT just to do it for a second to get them to breath a little or if I'm trying to out run a storm or get to the bank quick to take a dump. Otherwise, I cruise right along at my G2's optimal cruising speed of 30-33mph @ 3k rpms. As I said in my earlier post.... : " Now, is it the #1 "go fast" boat, no. If your main focus in a BASS boat is speed, then you need to be in the sport of boat racing, not fishing...." If you care about a go fast boat, pick up boat racing and get a boat like the Jason Quinn look a like in this video below.....- Ranger Boat's Icon

I owned a 2009 Z520 (a pre-Johnny Morris Ranger) prior to my current "Johnny Morris Ranger" and I see the same quality in the build, no "down grade" in quality....- Ranger Boat's Icon
