  1. I have (4) Calcutta 400D's for my big bait applications.
  2. I cleaned and repaired reels for 10 years, those 3 models of reels you have are all tanks. If bearings aren't giving you problems just clean, oil and reuse. I would get new drag washers for your reels. There are many videos online that go step by step on how to clean them. One thing I always do after a trip is remove my reels from the rods and store them inside the house in Plano XXL 7080 boxes to avoid high/low temperatures in the garage to protect the reels and line. Another thing is I always loosen the drags all the way to "relieve" the pressure on the drag washer, etc. Doing that will lengthen the life of your drag system and keep it operating smoothly. Good luck.
  3. Thanks. I don't crank a ton. I didn't have an issue cranking with my Aldebaran 50's. I haven't cranked with the Metaniums yet, but I'm sure it'll be the same as my Aldebarans, just have to slow down myself. I use bigger crankbaits most of the time anyway (10XD, etc) and for those I use my Calcutta 400D's which are 5.1:1. I never had an issue with the small/medium crankbaits "wearing me out" with the high gear ratios. Also, I'm 6'4" / 255lb and have big hands, the XG is the only model with the larger handle, which I wanted.
  4. Another DD largemouth and a smallie over 7lb...
  5. Anything BUT an Interstate... They're garbage. I've got (4) NorthStar/X2 31 series AGM's in mine. Good luck.
  6. Thanks. I'm set for a while... (10) Metanium MGL XG's (4) Calcutta 400D's (4) Stella 3000 FJ's
  7. My first rig, a 1989 Ford Festiva with a plastic BassTender 2 man boat with a trolling motor... I started at the bottom...... I saved money like crazy, lived well below my means and upgraded rigs over time to my current 100% paid for rig. I'd rather live in my current modest paid for home than to "keep up with the Joneses'" and live in a $500k+ house in a swanky part of Louisville that isn't paid for with a fat mortgage payment every month. I haven't been given a dime or inherited a large sum of money, all from extreme money discipline... Keeping your debts in check or even getting 100% debt free (which is an unbelievable feeling by the way ) opens many doors in the future and is a huge weight off of your shoulders! Proverbs 22:7
  8. I bought 14 Conquests without ever holding one in my hand. I'm 110% satisfied with all of them.... My vote out of the two you mentioned is for the GLX (or better yet a NRX 852S or Conquest 842S). Good luck
  9. Actually, she is awesome about letting me go during "peak" times... I've got 7 four+ day trips planned between now and May.
  10. I've got everything I want as far as equipment... I just need some more "signed permission slips" from the wife for me to go!
  11. TW got me for $925 of baits...
  12. Keep in mind there's a reason why a Lamborghini costs more than a KIA.........
  13. I have (4) Calcutta 400D's for my big bait applications... Stick with Shimano or Daiwa, they are the top dogs in the bass fishing reel industry. Watch these two videos... Mike and Matt explain why you should use the Calcutta's.
  14. Never fished with the new Chronarch. The last Chronarch I owned was the pearl colored ones back in the early 2000's. Since then I've only owned the high end Shimano reels like the Calais, etc. For me it was between the Antaras and the Metanium MGL. There's a reason why the Metanium is $140 more than the Chronarch.... I'm sure the new Chronarch is a good reel, not "bashing" it. I just wanted the best I could afford. I'm very happy with the Metanium MGL.
  15. Congrats man! Glad you didn't try and claim "9lb 7oz".......
  16. +1 Just sold my Aldebaran 50's and got 10 Metanium MGL XG's, love 'em....
  17. Recently updated my arsenal... Sold all 10 of my Aldebaran 50's and got 10 Metanium MGL XG's. Also sold my 4 Exsence 3000's and got 4 Stella FJ 3000's. Arsenal as of now: (10) Shimano Metanium MGL XG's (4) Shimano Stella FJ 3000's (4) Shimano Calcutta 400D's (14) Shimano/G. Loomis Conquests (4) G. Loomis IMX Pro's - 3 swimbait, 1 crankbait
  18. Stick with Shimano and Daiwa. They are the top dogs in the freshwater bass fishing reel industry. I'm strictly a Shimano/G.Loomis guy. You get what you pay for. There's a reason a Lamborghini costs more than a KIA............... Good luck
  19. Yep. I said the same exact thing about Brian Schram's "9lb 7oz" from LSC.... #fake news........
