Worst Boat Traffic Lake In State
I will pick Norris here in east tenn. Since moving here I tried going up there once in early summer. OMG. I really believe pontoon boats and beer put a target on bass boats trying to fish a bank. And boat ramps are a joke...why why why do people wait and load picnic baskets and blankeys in the middle of the ramp when attempting to launch. Loved it back in Oregon on the Columbia from Hood River up. Very little boat traffic...river to intimidating to most and the wind keeps the rest home. Fishing.....awesome. Tight Lines

Setting The Hook With A Texas Rig
Went out yesterday to work on the ol vertical hook set again. Sheesh....the first dozen hook sets (this is no kidding) I missed. I was beside myself. Then after that it was bout 95% hookups. They weren't huge fish 1 to 2 pounders but wow....was one of those I wasn't holdin my mouth right days.

Most Memorable Lake You Have Ever Been To?
Hands down lake Powell. Soooo quiet up in those canyons you could hear a pin drop a hundred yards away. Taking you boat under cliff overhangs in storms and water so deep and clear it almost looks black at times. Fishing when I was there out of Bullfrog was awesome and quite an adventure. Such an awesome place...think of it often.

Oil Or Grease
Many years ago a man from Shimano came to our stores and showed us how to do some routine maintance on our reels. It was awesome. Of coarse he used Shimano grease and oil and due to this I still use their grease and oil. He mixed a little oil with his grease to add to the worm gear to make it more watery and then just used a" little" bit. And for bearings less oil is more. I know I just touch up the ol worm gear once in awhile with a q-tip and then a little greasy oil and my reels work good.

Improved Clinch Knot - How Much Faith With Mono?
When I used to work in a sporting goods store we had a knot tester and did a lot of knot tests. We found out for us that the Trilene even when tied a little bad was a decent knot. When tied well it was awesome. The Palomar when tied well was awesome also...but if tied imperfect busted much easier that the Trilene. So have stuck with Trilene myself....

Co-Angler Advice...advice For The Back Of The Boat
I would mention not to cast back down the bank from where you came. I find it frustrating when back seater snags and doesn't say anything for a few minutes and then you have to turn around and backtrack a number of yards!

Shore Fishing Rant ( Fishermans Garbage Left Behind)
I carry trash bags in boat and during the day will on occasion pick up floaters as I head down or up lake. It's a feel good feeling and a shake the head feeling for some of the #@!$. Tight Lines

Berkley Trilene Xl Or Xt?
Always thought the XL to soft and never held up. XT was to stiff. As far as the Stren...had some bad experiences so that to is a no go. I use Excalibur lines but thats my choice. Lots of people will use these others and be perfectly happy. The world gives us many choices.

Carolina Rod Question
If possible could I get your opinions on say a 7 1/2 ft carolina rod. I have tried a couple of my older rods and have broken them on hooksets. I don't think I set to hard but was sure disapointed. I picked up a Ducket 7 ft plus heavy cranking rod the other day and it didn't feel bad. I'm using a 6 1/2 short ol fenwick composit now and it's holding up but too short I believe. Am throwing 14/17 lb line. Thank you for input

I've owned two pair of Coasta del Mar prescription now and must say they have been awesome. I also have a pair of clip ons for the glasses too that are light and have had no problems with any of them. Would buy another pair.

Bass Fishing With...
I'd probably enjoy fishing with ol Hank Parker. Seems easy going and besides I got his pic with my wife a number of years ago at a Nationals and he seemed pretty cool. Don't need to go fishing with some pretty lady.....I need to concentrate on hooksets...not mindsets!!

Setting The Hook With A Texas Rig
I know this is a re-run but I looked and had no luck. Was out on the water yesterday and it was slowwww. Just before going in decided to fish a worm on a Texas Rig. 1/16 oz bullet, 2/0 EWG, non-pegged by the way, ten pound braid with 10 pound fluro leader, four inch worm. Had heard mentioned a straight over the head hookset was best so this was in the back of my mind. Well, we got lucky and started getting a ton of bites. First three hooksets were to the side....miss,miss,miss. So then remembered....started the over the head and did much better.....much. Wasn't 100 percent but noticably better. Does anyone have any input on this. Partner had same results. Thank you much and tight lines
