It's all about confidence. If you are used to throwing T-rigs and jigs and having success, mixing in the Jika and not getting similar results as quick will discourage your efforts, causing you to go back to what you have confidence in. This happens to me all the time when I try something new. Next time you go out, only bring Jika rigs and fish 'em. With no other options at hand, your confidence may go up. Just my 2 cents.
  2. When I tried this, I rigged it this way. I put the hook through the head off the worm, like a normal texas rig. Then I slid a small swivel with a blade on the hook before putting the rest of the hook in the worm. So the swivel/blade was below the Texas rigged worm. It can help on a slow day.
  3. I've tried this before, too, with a small Indiana blade on a small swivel while Texas rigging for an extra flash. Sometimes just a little something different can make a huge difference!
  4. Yep. This goofy Northern Indiana weather is killing me, too!
  5. Crickets. Crickets. And more crickets.
  6. I love early morning/nighttime Jitterbugs! Just like Colt 45, it works every time...
  7. Good job! Like the name of it
  8. It's only funny until someone gets hurt. Then it's just hilarious.
  9. Well...anyone try one out yet?
  10. Walmart has them in the store for 39.99. I have one and love it.
  11. Just picked up a 7' Tec Spec today for 39.99 with the online coupon. Seems pretty nice, for the price. I'll try it out this week
  12. Dicks has these rods $20 off right now. Anyone have one, and if so, do you like it? Looks decent for 39.99. Thanks!
  13. Search with the spinnerbaits, slow it down and get 'em on the Texas rigs. Toss a squarebill around any laydowns that you can find. Or throw a lipless crank above and through the weeds, ripping it out for a reaction bite. Boy, that sounds easy from my couch. Good luck and go get 'em!
  14. Shimano is like Honda. It rarely goes on sale because they don't have to. You'll still buy one.
  15. Wow, that's pretty nice! Heavy, but nice! Thanks!
  16. I still have my boat. Just looking into a kayak, too. Thanks! Where is that boat at?
  17. Sit on, smaller lakes, $500-$600 for now.
  18. I am starting to casually/seriously think about getting a kayak for fishing. I need some recommendations and /or advice. There are so many out there! Keep in mind this will be my first one and I am on a budget, so a Hobie with all the bells and whistles is out of the question, unfortunately. Thanks!
  19. Nice! You got on some jumpy fish! Great job
  20. I have a Sellus and love it. But I don't have a Veritas to compare it to.
  21. All this research and fishing and more research has turned me into my favorite fish! For example: If something looks tasty, I usually suck it right in... When its hot outside, I prefer to stick to cover and shade... Some people think that I have a big mouth... I might be attracted to the "latest and greatest lure", but I'm a sucker for a simple soft plastic worm... And finally...after spawning, I will stay in the bed while my female wanders off.
  22. Depends on baitcasting or spinning. For me, I use spinning reels, and will usually stay around 10 lb. test or equivalent diameter for Fireline or Power Pro. 6-8 lb. test for more finesse approaches.
