Stupid Question About Fish/depth Finders
Most guys power them off of the 12v battery they use to start the main engine to the boat. Hooking the sonar units to a battery being used by a trolling motor has a tendency to cause electrical interference and can give false reading or a lot of "static" on your screen. That being said, for your situation I would recommend getting a small rechargeable 12v battery (similar to a lawnmower battery, Cabelas and Bass Pro carry them for around $20, charger included) which youll use just for the sonar unit. Keeping it completely separate from your trolling batteries is your best bet.

Goodbye Jon Boat... Hello To A Gorgeous Xpress (Pics)
Really nice rig there. Like the other guys have said though take your time on it. It definitely will rip with a 150 on there and can get sketchy REALLY quick the second you stop paying attention. Enjoy it though, looks like the guy never used it. BTW, add a G-Force trolling motor rope onto your list of add ons. Normal ropes break constantly and youll never have the G-Force steel cable snap on you. Best add on Ive ever done from a functionality standpoint

Blue Marsh Lake, Reading Pa
That first tournament your referring too had 29 boats, the second week had 45. You'll see the weights drop as the summer goes on along with a few high weights. All depends on weather and water temp to be honest. I fish almost every tuesday night up there, have placed quite a bit. If you have your spots, it can be excellent. Other days it can be brutally tough and you have to grind it out. To be honest, I hate fishing the creek arms. I will stay on the main lake 90% of the time, but like I said it is because I have my spots and I know how those fish act. They move around a lot more in the creek arms and you have to cover a lot of water from deep to shallow to find them.

Shimano Gear Set Replacement
I have a bunch of Curado E's. Never ever felt the need to replace gears on them and never heard of anyone doing that. Saying that your doing it on a near yearly basis is mind boggling to me. Not blaming you or saying your doing something wrong but if guys had to replace gears on their reels those reels would not even be popular, let alone as popular at all. Are they sticking or anything like that or just getting rough? Mine all have gotten better with time, and to be honest (and Im not a Shimano lover) I can compare them to a good wine getting better with age.

So It's True What They Say...
Not to put you down but every one of those issues can be avoided just by taking 5 minutes before and after each trip out. Battery test each battery after you charge them up, check them again before you leave (which should be after they sit for a bit), check props and cotter pins, and always carry extra fuses ad wiring accessories. Ive learned the hard way just like experiences you said and now if something like this happens on the water it goes from a ruined day to a 2 minute fix. A leatherman, fuses, and a small adjustable wrench can pretty much take care of most issues youll run into. Throw it in a small bow with the boat paperwork and forget about it till you need it

How Many Of You Snell Knot Your Flippin Hooks?
The number one reason why guys dont like to snell hooks is because they came through the back side of the eye instead of the front side. Scott Martin posted a video which illustrated why this is important. Essentially coming through the hook point side of the eye actually pushes the hook point into the fishes mouth when a strike happens. Doing the opposite pulls the hook away which causes terrible hook up percentages. I do snell all my flippin hooks. Basically a two fold reason. 1.) Exactly what I stated above, plus I feel it has a much better strength. 2.) Hides the knot in the bait away from the pegged tungsten I have on top of it, resulting in much less breakoffs when using fluoro

Shimano Spheros + ...?
A tidemaster could fit perfectly into that

Ewg Hooks, Hookset Issues.
Hook set harder. EWG's dont have a gap between the line tie and the hook point so you really need to get past the plastic and get down to the hook point. Set the drag so you wont snap the line and swing. Works for me and no I dont break off. Try it, worst that can happen is you lose a senko lol which today can cost a pretty penny!

Guess I'm A Bass Pro Shops Snob
You do live in Arizona... Ours has 4 aisles devoted to weights and hooks, 2 for trout, 5 for soft plastics, 1 for rapala, 1 for strike king and various other cranks, and one for spinnerbaits and jigs. Keep in mind these are all 12 ft long aisles. If its a big company we stock it.

Lures And Hooks On Carry-On?
When I flew on AirTran they designated hooks and lures with hooks as "dangerous" and therefore can be put in a checked bag but not in your carry on. I took all my reels in my carry on though and soft plastics are fine as well.

Why St. Croix!!
Im curious as to your opinion part. What is it based on? If its rods, then how are north fork composites and batson even on the list since they do not even produce production rods. As of now only blanks

Non Skid Paint Instead Of Carpet
Or just a textured vinyl like you see on a lot of newer G3 aluminum boats. You can get it by the sheet and install just like carpet, but you can spray it out instead

Interference Or Transducer Location....?
To clarify, if the transducer is lying flat, the top half should be above the hull and the bottom half below. Basically you dont want the entire transducer above the bottom of the hull to avoid the problem he is having and you dont want it completely below because it disrupts the water flow around it and can cause issues should a stick or anything hit it at speed
-
Interference Or Transducer Location....?
Yes I do Wayne. Thanks for asking. I didn't realize he stated that. That's what happening then is when accelerating there is a void of water around the transducer creating what your seeing. Long story short unless your fine going slow and keeping the back of the boat under the water you'll have to remount at a different point on the hull.
-
Interference Or Transducer Location....?
I cant tell from the picture but is the transducer actually above the bottom of the boat? Meaning take a ruler, put it on the bottom of the boat and is the transducer above or below it. I cant tell. If its doing that when you accelerate then there is probably no water there whatsoever. Ive had mine mounted half above and half below the bottom of the boat. This way any water coming under the boat comes in contact with it.

Music While Fishing
Always. Actually Im about to install speakers into the boat to keep the phone battery at a max. Its always techno music though. Odd thing is that my friends or guys tell me to turn it on when we are out because we always get into fish when I do

Rick Clunn Signature Series S-Glass Crankin Rods
I ended up getting them. I ended up with the jerkbait rod and gave my buddy the option for the other one. Fished it a bit to get the hang of it. Not very heavy at all (and Im used to a crucial) and it seems great for smaller squarebills which I fish a lot

Northeast River Md
Not really sure what I was thinking when I posted that. I was more or less referring to the flats out in front of furnace bay. The bay itself is an easy 2-2.5 miles past where I am talking about. I meant the flats out where that giant tree is out in the grass straight out from carpenters pt
