  1. I actually laughed out loud at that one. TrapperJ I always wondered why my G3 175 was rated for a 90 and the Tracker 175TXW is rated for a 75. Anyway I only have a 60 and it does just fine running mid to high 30's. Youll love that boat. I saw all the incentives in a flyer they sent me and no wonder those boats are as popular as they are! Good luck with her!
  2. Whatever you do (I have never done it nor looked into it), use a soft polisher. Using something very abrasive like pumice could take off a good portion of metal which would result in a very shiny, loose gear in your reel.
  3. Try changing two things. Go with 6 or 8 lb fluoro, scratch the braid even if it is that thin. And up your weight. 1/8 oz on a plastic work for fishing 18-35 ft deep is way too light. I would put money down that you are not even reaching the fish. Try atleast 1/4 to get that deep and work it off the bottom
  4. Get a game camera (infrared) and put it in your backyard facing the boat. Any movement will set it off and youll have proof. Getting one with a video feature is even better.
  5. I dont see how you couldnt show emotion. Sad thing is that a lot of people who see him as the winner never look past the emotion that he showed when he won. Everyone on this site is different and we can understand what he really is. Personally I loved Chris Lane as a winner. I think hes a great guy, with a great personality and a great work ethic to go with it. Heck of a fisherman too. Pace just kind of showed that "oh, I won, cool" attitude that didnt sit well with a lot of folks. It will be interesting to see how this year goes for him if sponsors will push him outside the comfort zone in terms of promoting products
  6. when are you going? ill be going out on march 18 and 19
  7. Its not talking trash, its talking facts. Compare the features on a Citica E and the new Curado G. Look at the spools for one. The curado was always a big step up from the Citicas and they brought the rice points closer together and now the Chronarch is right on par for the features found on the old Curado E. Im not in any way shape or form saying the new Citicas and Curados are bad reels, but guys who put hundreds of hours on these reels a year are willing to pay more for the quality package you got with the Curado E's. I personally will never buy a new Curado or Citica. I will however buy the E series. I have a bunch of them and they keep ticking even with the abuse I give them. The chronarch would be one I would get should I need new ones but the upped price from the Curado has ticked a lot of people off.
  8. Ya, I can understand if it was a repo unit that they would take the electronics and props since they arent designated as part of the boat itself and they are the owners property, but I wouldnt risk that on ebay. If you could get a mechanic to look at the motor first, since the lower unit was replaced then I would say do it but your taking a big risk on a boat that seems to have had a few impacts.
  9. Cost for a regular 31 size battery is roughly $1,000 depending on which company you choose. Major expensive is an understatement
  10. Grass carp have been introduced here and fishing in the summer (when you can figure it out) can be on fire. Most of my fishing is DEEP. 20 ft plus. Lighter weight carolina rigs (1/2 oz weights and under) with lizards, drop shot on a light weight and deep cranks all produce very well up here. Most of the time its on hard cover (trees, weedlines(even though you dont have any), old road beds, humps in the middle of the lake), and main points and secondary points are all the best spots I have found year after year
  11. Keep them all right where they are. All heavy weight in the boat should stay as close to the back. Youll see a lot of pros move their heavy terminal tackle, weights, hooks, batteries all to the back to get more bow lift and in turn more top speed. I have two 27 series deep cycles and one 24 series optima dual purpose in the stern of my G3 175 and have no issues whatsoever
  12. ^^ agreed. Iaconelli has been known to push this as well. On spinning reels where you are running a straight fluoro mainline, a bigger spool helps a lot in terms of memory and coiling. Smaller spools tend to let the line jump off a lot more. However, 8 lb and under tend not to produce many issues at all for me so I use it on any reel I want. Anything heavier I usually go to a casting setup
  13. I only got one actually. Pflueger Patriarch 30 with a St Croix Legend Xtreme LXS610MLXF for specifically drop shotting. Running 6 lb full spool fluoro on it.
  14. Thats not a true octopus hook. That is a circle octopus which is about the worst hook you could use. If you set the hook, you will NEVER hook the fish. These hooks are designed to roll in the fishes mouth and into the corner, and with constant pressure hooks them. This is designed for bait fishing to help prevent gut hooking. Use the regular drop shot hook, circle hooks should only be used for bait. The top hook in your picture is in fact an octopus hook. Some people call them by different names but that is what it is. These you will have no problem with. Drop shot, Split Shot, G-Lock hooks all are quality contenders, and depending on personal preference these are what should be used
  15. I have the 597ci hd combo, not the one with the DI. I do love it. The gps works great, and gets me right on top of spots that I have previously marked, down to a few feet. Ive sat in my boat in my driveway, turned it on, and it shows sometimes that Im going about .2-.3 mph but thats usually expected from a GPS. Speeds are bang on, and the clarity on it is great for the price. If linking to other units and DI is a must, than I cannot comment any further as I have no experience with either. Im not going to drop that money for a FF for a 17 ft aluminum boat
  16. Optimas are great, I run them as my starting/accessory battery but I cannot justify the price to use them as a straight trolling motor battery. The Everstarts do just fine
  17. one thing that kind of irks me on that is the fact that he pulled off both the main prop and the trolling motor prop, both of which can be very good indicators of how hard a boat has been used and the condition that the boat is in. He also completely stripped the boat and the carpets look very worn as well. Other than that the rig looks pretty clean, but be very careful buying sight unseen. He also wants a $500 payment right after sale
  18. Your battery is shot. You definitely need a new one. A new battery will generally run about $80-100 if you buy one at Walmart. (Been using them for years and for the abuse I give batteries they are the best for me). To answer your other questions, yes, the batteries should be charged as soon as possible after you get off the water. The lead plates in deep cycle batteries sulfate when they are not fully charged so leaving them for any period of time at all will harm your battery and not let it get to full charge in the future. A 24-27 size battery on a 32 lb trolling motor will last quite a while, given that you are not going around the lake on full power the entire time. Use it only as needed and it should last all day.
  19. I had the exact same issue. I ended up turning the Humminbird mount backwards so it would turn away from the windshield and not towards it. The wider side of the the screen swings out over the side of the boat which eliminates an external mount.
  20. I dont see it as "getting by" by doing it that way at all. If two ways work perfectly for the application, why spend the money, or wait for Humminbird to get an extra transducer when a pipe clamp is all you need with the given equipment.
  21. Ill disagree with you. Ive been using adapted transducers for a long time and have never had one hiccup at all. All that I do use the mounting hardware like normal, but mount the transducer on the mount completely vertical. Then use a pipe clamp (a big one), wrap it around the motor and cinch down and your golden. Not sure whats wrong in your eyes with this mounting way.
  22. well they are discontinued, so really getting any of them is going to be a chore
  23. I spooled up 5 rods with new invisx from 6 lb to 12 lb 4 days ago. Just went yesteday out yesterday for the first time with it. I had only sprayed it with L&L after I spooled it and I would have never known that it was fluoro was that supple
  24. how about some sort of chain or tempered steel cable that you can run through them and attach to a tree or even a cement block you pour in the ground with a heavy duty i bolt
  25. e3 sports gemini
