  1. Well that is good to know. Not that I would ever use anything than a single hook per bait anyway.
  2. Ya well I cant find anything that specifically states that. Everywhere I have looked says 3 hooked arms. Nothing about multiple hooks on one bait. Ill pull out the book when I get to work tonight. I also remember a Fish and Boat guy tellin me that earlier this year... Not sure yet
  3. Pretty sure thats wrong. Last time I looked it was 3 different baits. Whether each bait has 1 or 10 hooks doesn't matter. I could be wrong, but I remember it being a baited hook as counting towards the 3. Not each treble for example.
  4. I doubt you even need any type of waterproofing. I have the same exact boat, mine dont show any sort of rust. Im surprised yours look that horrendous. Water never even gets to that level, even if it did, you have foam sandwiched in there which wont let it through.
  5. Curious as to what your going to do about all those cracks in the gel coat? Are you going to resurface the entire boat?
  6. Itll probably be a little easier on you reeling wise if you can get a 6.4:1 ration on there. Using a 7.1:1 is like your cranking against something that wont move and you really have to slow down
  7. its tough but you basically have to learn as the day goes along. Look at water temp, water clarity, wind, sun and work from there. This usually takes away a lot of unproductive water before you leave the ramp. Think about those conditions and what worked last time you fished very similar conditions. Have rods rigged up with everything different, and just grind it out until you find fish. Usually covering water and moving fast is how Ill start to see if I cant get o active fish, and if that doesnt work slow down and pick the area apart that you think looks productive
  8. First ones are going in Pittsburgh and Harrisburg I think. DSG is based just outside of Pittsburgh so they are keeping it close. They WILL be carrying handguns as well as a lot more fishing and hunting stuff. I have seen new stuff being added to the inventory daily which is all stuff that DSG doesnt carry in their stores
  9. Lead doesnt come out of the ground as lead. It comes out as lead ore, (less than 10% lead) which is then crushed and burned in a blast furnace to separate all the minerals and metals out. The safety protocols which are in place within the plants pretty much limit exposure by workers (plus its mostly automated now). In its ore form, (most metals for that instance) arent very dangerous at all. I only know these weird things because Im a geologist Up around my region its asbestos you have to worry about a lot. We have a lot of serpentine which commonly forms with crysotile which is that hairy asbestos stuff
  10. my guess is a bad ground on either the switch or knob. pull the wires to both and check where they go and all connections
  11. The dicks rods do come from Pure Fishing.. Only reason I know is because I have unpacked about 300 of them. To ColdSVT, Im not sure how you could have possibly made the comment that your manager put you in charge of buying for your store. Every store goes straight through distribution and nothing is left to the store in terms of having any say of what they can or will get in. Only once a year is the opportunity given to employees to make half a dozen recommendations per department on what they should carry. Contracts are made with the companies with bulk ordering and it is split up by inventory, location and sale potential from there. If your manager said you had anything to do with the way your store got inventory you got fooled big time, or your lying. I've worked there for a few years now.
  12. did you do this? -put the filler spool on the ground, label up so the line comes off the spool counter clockwise. Reel under MODERATE pressure, not too tight that your squeezing and heating up the line, and not too light that it is loose on the spool? If you do the above with a mono you should not have any problems given that it is fresh line and hasnt been sitting in heat or in direct sunlight. How long has it been on the reel for?
  13. When I bought mine it had a 40 on the front. Thought it was fine. Then I got stuck on the down wind side of a lake with a dying battery on a windy day... That spurred me to put in two batteries in parallel. By the end of the year I said screw it and got a 70 maxxum on the front off a fellow member and have been happy ever since!

by far the best is the Evolve Vibragrub. One of the few products that lives up to everything the company hypes it up to be. Awesome flutter while swimming and on the fall. I go with the smaller size on a small darter head for smallies and the larger size rigged a variety of ways for largemouths
  15. ill get some to you sometime in the next few days. its supposed to pour rain here tomorrow so the cover probably wont come off. Ive seen the vinyl 176 before. Pretty neat setup and cleanup is a breeze with them.
  16. If you want to see any pics of my 175 Id be more than willing to post some up and show how I have it set up to see how you like it
  17. yes I have seen and used 6 lb braid. Not worth it in my opinion at all. If 6 lb braid was that invisible you would see nearly everybody using that instead of fluoro for finesse fishing.
  18. with 100% gas you dont really need stabil, but if its peace of mind then use it. Up here I cant get gas without ethanol unless I drive over 2 hours, so I am forced to use it. Ethanol, like all alcohols, bond with water and actually attract it, which as we all know can cause some serious damage when run through a combustion engine. Most, if not all fuel lines now are able to handle the eating properties of ethanol unlike older motors. Youll be fine running either gas, and if you need to use ethanol enhanced fuel then run stabil and youll be fine.
  19. Highly disagree with you. A few years ago when superlines were the new hot thing I started using it on my senko rod as well as my jig rod (both which are techniques where the bass often have time to sit and look at your bait). I noticed a major drop in the amount of bites I was having. Fish with any pressure at all will become line shy, look at trout for instance. Now I have been running straight copolymer or fluoro on all my setups with the exception of my punching rod with 65 lb braid and my hookups skyrocketed once I made the switch. Also, when bass are less active a lot of times finesse can be the totally wrong approach. When they get sluggish reaction bites are often the way to boat fish. Enticing a bass to eat and getting one to swipe at your bait as it wizzes by are opposite ends of the spectrum, and both should be used when finding a pattern that they want.
  20. Some things I look for. A ton of storage, trolling motor on the front, split or dual 25+ gallon livewell, ablility to get into shallow water and get back out, a deck that runs within a few inches of the gunnels for flipping/pitching techniques, and last but definitely my most important is how close to being level with the water I am when I am standing on the front deck. Standing too high can completely change your style of attack and being closer to the water makes you much more precise because you are right on top of the action.
  21. but youll never need to add oil to it when you fill up.
  22. I would honestly hold out for the 175. Not only do you get a bigger boat and a LOT more storage, but you get a standard 60hp with it as well. On the 165 and 170 the storage will be a nightmare. Think about the stuff you should have with you at all times (anchor, rope, pliers, screwdriver, throwable device, 2 lifejackets, running lights, rain gear, registration and permits, paddle, bailing device). This includes no tackle at all. In my boat I have one whole storage compartment dedicated to this stuff and I have a rod locker and a storage unit left over for tackle and rods. I vote to keep saving and get something youll love for a long time and not be wishing you had waited a year down the road.
  23. ^^x2. I would guess on the hookset his thumb pushed down on the spool, and while doing that he pushed the bar releasing the spool.
  24. you guys are making me happy I have a four stroke..
  25. Heres something I think that would work pretty well. Go to your local tackle store or Dicks. Get a few 3/32 nail weights (not 1/16 which is also common), push one into the tip of each end and go with a weightless wacky hook. While the 3/16 may seem light in terms of weight it changes the dynamic of how the bait falls and it gets down there a lot quicker to the bottom. Once it gets down to the bottom fish it like you normally would, except now the ends of the bait are hugging the bottom and when you twitch it or pull up it almost collapses on itself and then opens up again on the fall. I promise the fish have never seen that before
