  1. Real nice fish congrats. Really can't tell but my humble opinion 8-9 lbs.
  2. Shimano fan but I would also agree lews because of the aluminum frame. If you want Shimano go with the Citica.
  3. Most of my reels are Shimano. I love my 50 sizes the best. I do own two Daiwas and three BPS PQs.
  4. No I don't think you would be losing out. I use a 1000 for bass fishing and pan fishing. Either reel will work.
  5. I have three pqs absolutely no issues for me and it isn't hard to dial so you won't backlash. Maybe needs a check up or cleaning?
  6. For flukes I use a m/xf spinning. For Senkos I use if t rigged a mh/f rod, if wacky rigged I use a m/f or m/xf. Depending on the type of hook I use.
  7. Sam welcome to the board.
  8. Nice fish and welcome to the boards fellow bass fisherman.
  9. Welcome aboard!
  10. Definitely great tips. Also no fish is that important.
  11. Dude can I join ya? Looks like a great spot!
  12. My two favourite ways to catch sallies. Cranks and a split shot rig with a 6 or 7" worm.
  13. Welcome to the forums!
  14. I like 4 brands that I like fishing with. Shimano, G Loomis, Fenwick and the BPS Carbonlite.
  15. I had a few more good days (quantity) but not much in quality. Plus I didn't go as much as I wanted to go out. So I give myself an average. 2016 I hope to change that since I'm working temporarily in SF and going to my project in West Texas. Although I'm finding out there isn't much out here in WestTexas. Fort Stockton area.
  16. Anyone from SF want to show me the ropes around the bay area? I won't have access to a car though. Still need to buy some equipment, still debating if I should bring some down from Ontario Canada! Send me a PM!
  17. Congrats! I concur it does look like a 3lber.
  18. Great thanks for the feedback guys. Antares it is!
  19. I know a pond that similar to what you're describing. Majority of the time plastics is the winner. If I stuck with cranks I'd probably be skunked and if I was lucky I'd get 1. However, if I dropshot a 4" worm, craw or whatever (small). Oh and I catch more if I'm using a natural color. I'd catch 10+ every outing. When they are on the bottom I will go with a split shot rig. You are just going to have to fish how they want it not how you want to.
  20. For that price range, Fenwick Elite Techs and BPS Carbonlite. I do agree what Tom states too.
  21. So I'm having a difficult time to pick one. I wish I could afford both! I am leaning towards the Antares because it will be paired with a GLX 853C or 894C. I am mainly going to use it for plastics, that is why I would prefer the higher speed. Plus the fact the Antares is half the price! But the Aldebaran is no slouch and I like size 50 reels. Right now my 853C is paired with a Curado 50E and my 894C a Chronarch CI4+. Both are being sold for the same price. (300 USD) Both are mint (guy didn't fish with them at all). Which would you take?
  22. Yes 25" pike are tasty. But it is bitz to clean and filet.
  23. Respool but dont throw away the braid. Put it on your pitching setup. No wasting line.
  24. Just so you know though they arent light sticks.
