  1. I have the exact same rod. Only Avid I have left.
  2. Pike is yummy, but I haven't perfected the art of deboning them like that! I wish more people would eat them too. I feel they are taking over too many waters in my fishing holes. Most of the reason people don't eat them is because walleye and trout are the favoured table fare and easy to debone unlike pike.
  3. I have an old cork crucial ml/xf rod (2generation old) it is the best finesse and drop shot rod ever for me and will not let it go. I'm sure the Zodias would have the same or close taper.
  4. Wow that is a big cat. I love the Shimano 50 sized reels I didn't need much convincing. I have both but I haven't been able to really test them out as I just got them a few weeks ago. I will be testing them out this week though on pike!
  5. I wish Fenwick didn't upgrade the ET rods, otherwise hands down I would recommend it. I'm regretting not nabbing the last two at my local shop. Good to hear the Avid X is better but it is still not the action I like. But still was a good sensitive rod.
  6. In general for bottom contact I'd go with the most sensitive rods. For moving baits I'd go less sensitive. I haven't fish either of those rods, but going by price and feedback the Zodias would be better for bottom contact and the fury would be fine for moving/reaction baits.
  7. Yes I've done that and get the same reaction sometimes. You're not alone.
  8. I just bought a 2 pc medium fast for traveling in the trunk rod. It feels pretty good, I haven't fished it yet but it felt good in my hands, paired it with a Curado 70 XG it was impressive.
  9. To each their own and their preference. I've never felt this grinding feeling and I own/owned Curado Bs all the way to Is. I also own two Chronarch Es, I actually find the opposite with the Shimanos, I feel they get better as they age. I owned other reels and I keep coming back to Shimano.
  10. I'd like to know too. I have two G Series and break them down, I haven't seen an issue. Can you provide pics too?
  11. Blue, they love the buzz baits where I've gone every year. Up in Northern Ontario where smallmouth is more dominant and/ or the only bass. Maybe it's because everyone else thinks the same as you do and I throw them something they don't see! I haven't seen many guys throw buzz baits in general come to think of it.
  12. Hello and welcome fellow hobbyist.
  13. Using these shiners for future bait maybe illegal, you should double check the regulations. Around here you need a license to breed baitfish and use as bait. Further you may cause harm to the waterways you fish if your shiners have a disease/sickness.
  14. Even in clear water I'm confident you'll still catch.
  15. Never handled one before so can't comment. You did get a great deal though! The only knock I had about quantum was the palm ability they always felt bulky for me but the energy pt I had was super smooth.
  16. Darren has given you great advice. Those two knots aren't hard to do. Just so you know I've fished straight yellow braid before and still caught fish. Main reasons I use leaders as stated in a previous response. Also other reasons are other lines have better abrasion resistance and adding a mono leader gives you the advantage of the stretch needed for treble techniques.
  17. This is easy. Put braid on all your reels and use leaders. That way you can use mono, floro or copolymer if you'd like. 40 lb braid would be good for your bait casters, for your spinning go with 15. Further doing it this way, your braid will last a long time and it helps save money by using other lines as leader material instead of constantly changing your line.
  18. I've never seen them Chronarch E that high. If I can truly get double, I should pick the ones up locally 3 of them nib for 115 each.
  19. Really 300? For a Chronarch E? Really? Crazy maybe I should buy those Chronarch Es. As for Curado I horrible, first I heard that. Any case send it back and get a refund, I wouldn't buy another product from the seller.
  20. I was going to suggest a 200 series reel for the IMX 894C, I own the GLX 894C and it balanced better to put a 200 series reel. I also agree 3/8 oz wouldn't be the best for a 4 powered rod, I'd go down to a 3 powered rod for this.
  21. They are 200s if they were 50s I would've bought them already.
  22. Doesn't it say? I'm guessing you're not buying rod glove or bps brand. They state the size. If I had to fathom a guess. The large would be fine for 6'6" to 7', the xl would be for the longer ones. But that is just an educated guess.
  23. Maybe practice rod building? Other than that no.
