  1. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the previous Citica pretty easy to do the same thing anyways?
  2. Oh and I'd like to add that in this small community pond where the avg fish is 1lb, I'd get a 5 fish limit in 30 minutes. I use this pond to practice techniques. It's fun to see everyone there get amazed when I pull up fish after fish and ask me what I'm using! Drop shot and a jig is deadly there. So 5lb bag is easy here, you can get the odd 3-4 lbers here but very rare.
  3. Same depends on which body of water I am fishing. If my local waters, I struggle to get 5 because it is so pressured. I'd say 8-10 lb would be average and 15 lb would be excellent. If I'm fishing the waters further away I'd say 5 fish limit isn't that difficult and I'd catch 15lb on average. Good day would be 20+ lbs.
  4. I had an older extreme and it was MH/F. It seemed stiffer than the rating, but I think this was one was 2 generations ago. It was a decent rod, but heavy. Good luck with your new rod!
  5. Exactly what I said in the other thread! This is going the same path as the other threads.
  6. Squarebills and I wouldn't rule out jerkbaits.
  7. Like a lot of have said. Side arm or roll casts are ideal. Although I also don't have problems bombing them. Curious if it's the brand you are using? I use -> Generic, Strike King and Booyah never had a problem.
  8. When I first got into bass fishing and tried FC for the first time (Vanish). Vanish turned me off to FC for awhile, using it as main line many random break offs. Definitely crappy as a leader material too. I made the switch to Seaguar Red Label and never looked back.
  9. I agree 100% with this.
  10. St. Croix makes good rods. I use to own a few Avids, but I found that Shimanos Power/Action suited my personal preference. So I switched. You may want to handle both and put a reel on them to see if it is what you're looking for. Both are good rods and competitive at that price range and don't think you would lose either way. I don't have experience with the Avid X though.
  11. I don't have experience with this one and if it's the new model, I haven't pulled a trigger on one. I own two older Crucials and they are fish well.
  12. Yeah I remember a thread not long ago that was pretty heated.
  13. My favorite are my 50 size Shimano reels. (Curado 50E, Chronarch 50E, 50MG)
  14. I would agree most of the time it is asked for bottom contact. I am partial to the Astos series and i can get them for 149. Everyday. For 99.99 that is a steal!
  15. I dont know why all the complaints still. Dont buy it if you can get the Curado I cheaper. What will probably happen is you will be able to get this cheaper anyway. I bet you can find this later for closer to the 100 price point. Sounds good to me.
  16. When I go fishing I don't usually bring all my CCs, Bank Cards or leave my wallet in my car. No reason to have it on the water really, I'll carry my license and ID.
  17. Yum Dingers also aren't bad. BPS brand Stik-O's though are my favorite stick baits.
  18. I like my loan GL2, but for the price if you're buying new especially there are better rods for Jig and Worms. They aren't the best rods for it imo. I have a 893C and use it for spinnerbaits and swim jigs. For bottom contact I'd rather pay for a Fenwick Aetos.
  19. I have a lot of jig rods too many to list, but my main rods that always have a jig GLX 894C, 854C, 853C and a Cumulus 7'2" MH/XF.
  20. I do one handed casting most of the time, especially if I want to make a quiet entry. I feel like I have better control, especially for finesse tactics.
  21. Last year at a cottage lake I frequent. I threw a white spinnerbait 3/8 oz, it was my last cast before coming in. As the sb was near my kayak about an arms length. I saw a massive head come out of nowhere. It was a big pike. I saw my sb disappear, took me a split second to realize what was happening. I tried to set the hook but it was too late. I pulled it out of its mouth. I really need to react better.
  22. Yeah that was my initial thought. I'm guessing they are using it to balance better? I haven't held one yet, but I'd overlook it if it performs well.
