  1. Drop Shot - Period 1/4 to 3/8 White/Chat Spinnerbait Super Fluke Jigs
  2. Gotta get me one of those. Awesome that your wife has that many rods too!
  3. I'd probably go for what aprw1 suggested for those techniques. Not sure the comment why you are exclusively using braid for pike infested waters? Do you mean you use a floro leader? Floro is more abrasize resistant and it isn't as easy to break off by a pike vs braid.
  4. Mine are in my furnace/basement hanging on the wall horizontally held by metal hooks. Hooks are wrapped with felt material to protect from abrasion, plus the rods are in rod gloves. Each set can hold 4-5 rods. My reels are in a cabinet/cubby sitting on top of a towel that is placed on my custom tackle storage system.
  5. No offense..ha, But these pictures make me wince. Are those Stradics in that cooler?
  6. Now that would've been an awesome deal.
  7. I thought the Coalition was just on the market last year? Why are they discontinuing so fast?
  8. For reaction rods I learned last year that you can't go too cheap. I had a cheapo BPS rod that I bought as a combo (Pro Qualifier Tournament Combo). The combo was 79.99, obviously the value was mostly because of the reel, I decided this rod as a spinnerbait rod would be fine since I believed you could feel a bite easily because of the nature of reaction baits. BOY was I wrong! There were many times where I didn't know I had a bite or feel any differences at all. Once I switched up rods to a Shimano V Rod and Compre, it was night and day. So I now I believe the rods even for reaction at least have to be sensitive enough or you miss fish like I did last year. There were many times I didn't know a fish was on until it was too late. But you don't have to go too high in price, like I do with bottom contact.
  9. The PQ Tournament one was made in China, I haven't broken it down to confirm..but I hear the bearings are less quality. I do know the PQT does feel different when I fish the standard PQ side by side. It feels smoother (the PQ). The standard PQs I've seen are stickered made in Korea. I also noticed the PQT's frame is a little more "shinier" than the PQ. I mean you really have to pay attention to details to notice the subtle differences. Having saying that, the reel is still not a bad buy. If you are buying the off the shelf PQ you are fine, it is the one that are sold as a special buy...look at the name. For instance - Pro Qualifier "Tournament" Combo, tournament being the key word there. Or the Prolite Special Limited Edition. It is all about the wording.
  10. Here is what I carry depending on the situation: For the bank - 4 rods, (2 Casting and 2 spinning) Kayak - 6 rods (4 casting and 2 spinning) Co-Angler 5 or 6 rods - (3-4 casting and 2 spinning) Having state that, I have 20 bass rods. Yes I have a problem, but at least I'll be ready when I get my boat either a Nitro Z7 or Tracker 176TXW.
  11. This thread has inspired me to try other ways to fish fluke type baits!
  12. Brother, I think you have a problem. lol
  13. My preference, they would have all braid. Baitcasters will have 40-50lb braid and leaders for the appropiate presentation. The spinning rods would have 10 to 15lb braid with leaders too. THis goes for most of my techniques.
  14. I have my Veritas paired with a PQ too...pretty good combo!
  15. Yeah same here and the price at 79.99 makes it even harder to resist.
  16. I couldn't tell you if that is the case but it is possible. If they did fix their quality issues, at 79.99 that would be a great value. Personally I wouldn't hesitate to get another Veritas.
  17. I'm not familiar with most of your setups..so I will comment in general (power/action). Kunan Competitor 6'6" MH & Diawa PS2-SB Baitcaster - Spinnerbait/top water/swim jigs Abu Garcia Thunder Stick 5'6" Medium light action & Shimano Bantam Crestfire CR100 - Dropshot rod/split shot Abu Garcia Black Max Combo 6'6" MH Rod & Reel Baitcaster - Your main jig rod and texas rigs (plasticss) Pflueger Trion 35 Reel and a 7' Pflueger Rod Combo Spinning - What is the power/action? My assumption is M/F - if that is the case (Senkos, weightless plastics, shakey head, small jigs and cranks)
  18. I own the 7'3" Veritas, I think it is the perfect length.
  19. Congrats and I will follow suit by eyeballing weight, I think it is 3.5-4lbs.
  20. That last comment was for the other posters regarding private vs public. Sorry to confuse or maybe I'm confused! The ponds around me are a bit different...I can throw in those areas, but it maybe pike or bass. I guess where you are, you don't have to worry much about the toothy critter!
  21. I challenge you to catch fish throwing a dirty sock at the end of the line. Sorry I know stupid, but you said anything! Also, I don't think anyone was stating catching a 5lb+ fish in a private pond/lake was not fun...they are just saying it is more gratifying if it was in a pressured/public body of water.
  22. Why not just get floro and use it as a leader? (I do all the time) assuming you are using braided line already. Simply put floro makes your line almost invisible, more abrasive resistant than braid and due to the lower stretch is more sensitive than using mono. Frankly, not sure why anyone has to convince you. If you don't like it, then don't use it...if you're catching fish without it no reason to change.
  23. I agree with this, my St. Croix Avid 6'6" M/F is my favorite swim jig rod and is my all time favorite jerkbait rod.
  24. At least they caught it before it got to your door step.
