C-Rig Weights
Just a little tidbit that probably didn't deserve it's own thread. I bank fished a clear pond yesterday with a 3/16th brass weight with about a 2 foot leader set. I was bringing it back in for the next cast and it came through some submerged grass about 10 feet from the bank. I saw a Bass (2-3 lbs) shoot out and take off with my line. I reeled down and swept the rod back and missed. But it wasn't until it was over when I played in back in my head that I realized the lizard was behind the Bass as it took off for the depths. He nailed the shiny brass weight. Makes me second guess using brass. I usually lake fish stained water so this might explain some of those misses.

A Real Bass Fisherman
There's a fine line..fishing with the old classics vs. trying new stuff.. One day last Spring, I had one of my best days ever on a Ned rig for numbers and size. It felt like I do no wrong with it. Got back to ramp expecting others to have similar results and was surprised how slow it'd had been for most. That's one case where a "new" technique paid off.

Bunk carpet
I did mine this past weekend. Went to one of the less popular ramps and it took a little over 30 mins. The new carpet was thinner so I just went right over top...I guess time will tell but it looks fine.

Alternative to Uncle Josh?
There used to be a place down around KY lake that made them. Don't remember the name, they left a sample packet under my windshield wipers at the boat ramp. That's been some time ago though. I'm clinging to a few bottles of Uncle Josh in Brown/Orange. My black ones are long gone.

C-Rig Weights
I'm with you here. I still use the Carolina keepers but haven't tied swivels in years. Some argue having a lighter line that breaks first to save weights, but the keepers make it too easy. Why'd you switch to bobber stops?

C-Rig Weights
Thanks.... So do you think you feel the bite better with a heavier weight (let's say 1oz) that is planted on the bottom or a lighter weight (1/8) that would come off the bottom quicker once pulled through by the Bass. I guess where I'm going with this is..why guys are throwing big heavy 1 to 11/2 oz weights when the smaller weights ( like you use) work fine.

How long will you let a bait sit?
Reminds me of a story that've I told many times. Many years ago I was fishing with my non fishing brother in-law at my Dad's pond. He was burning a worm at warp speed. I think I was mid sentence in explaining why he was working it too fast when the biggest Bass I'd ever seen in that pond destroyed it. I stayed quiet for much of the day after that....lol

C-Rig Weights
This question would apply for any variation (C-Rig, Split Shot, Mojo...etc). Does a heavier weight increase the sensitivity of the bite? Obviously a heavier weight increases bottom sensitivity but what about the bite. It seems it does to me but not sure why it would. Just a random thought last night when I was putting some setups together for a little trip this weekend.

How long will you let a bait sit?
Good post, curious to see other responses. If I'm in the sweet spot (brush pile, laydowns) I might let it sit for 30 secs max. If I'm working a long point or big flat with a T-rig or C-rig sometimes my only pause is just long enough to move the rod back in position to move it again. I'd say on average I'll let it set still for 5 to 10 secs or so. Maybe that's too fast. I do struggle with patience. I've fished with people that say I fish too fast and others say too slow.

MLF has become a dink fest
Totally irrelevant...but it's been years since I've watched any of the shows. I know I'm the exception but I'd rather watch fishing videos on You Tube if I want to learn more about a technique. Ok, now the debate can continue...lol

What is the mono with the least amount of stretch?
Agreed...you'd think nobody ever caught fish on Trilene XL all these years..lol. Reel into the fish and set the hook.

What is the mono with the least amount of stretch?
Trilene XT might be old school but I think it has less stretch than most mono's. I prefer Stren but XT has less stretch.

Zoom Lizard - So Many Colors
I saw that on KY Afield. He was casting to a 4lber and saw what he described as a log come up from the depths and take it. He ended up catching the 4lber too....what a day.

Zoom Lizard - So Many Colors
Watermelon Red and/or Junebug work most of the time. I have seen on multiple occasions where a watermelon color isn't working until you throw the red flake one so now that's what I buy.

Out with old, in with the...not so fast
Between a deck restoration and painting the inside of my house, I have fished less this Spring than any other in recent memory. I did get away to KY lake a few weeks back and was able to get out and bank fish for a few hours at a pond yesterday. So at KY lake I put the old T-Rig up against the Toyko Rig. For those of you not familiar with the Toyko rig, it's almost a cross between a drop shot and a Jika rig, you can Google it. Anyway, by far, the old Texas rig outperformed it down on KY lake. Now I did the same comparison yesterday at the pond, the winner went to the Toyko rig by almost the same margin. Then for kicks, I broke out a Carolina rig and it blew both away....by far. Very unscientific I know, but I used the same plastics for each "test". At KY lake, it was the same lizard, at the pond, the same worm. No real point here..lol just an observation, trying new rigs is fun but don't forget the classics.

Right Vs Left - Opinion?
There is no right or wrong but I'm very happy that I switched to a left hand retrieve about a decade ago. BTW, it took one full day of fishing to get used to it as I remember.

PB&J Sandwich
Yeah, she's right...that's weird.?

Jigs with Trailers vs Jigs without Trailers
Yeah, if it works, keep doing it. I've never thrown a jig without something attached but I have put on some very unconventional trailers. Back ends of used up curly tails, brush hogs, and long before I ever heard of the Ned, I was using stickbaits(either whole or partial). I've caught fish on all of them.

Jigs with Trailers vs Jigs without Trailers
I read this in Dr. Jones book. I think he surmised a tube best matched his results....that's why I added tubes to my arsenal.

Is there a barometric pressure you try to stay under?
X2...and cold rain...I can do cold and I can do rain, not both, lol.

Watch your line
I don't keep logs, but when pitching into cover, I'd guess half of my strikes are detected on line movement alone. Either a twitch, walk off, or just going slack earlier than expected. When casting and working along the bottom, I go more by feel probably.

Spinning rod love!
I'm in the 50/50 camp, both are just tools. Neds, for example, on spinning gear. Pitching a 1/2 oz jig back into a log jam would call for my casting gear.

Drop shot knot
I like the look of this, will give it a try.. thanks.
